Came into Yeagers Sporting Goods with a simple mission: finish Christmas shopping for the last couple people on our list. Easy, right? Wrong. What actually happened was my husband found approximately everything he has ever wanted. Jackets, gear, "ooh look at this" items, suddenly it was less holiday shopping and more Yeagers-sponsored shopping spree for him. And honestly? I'm not mad about it. Because now I know exactly what Santa is bringing him (Great job, Santa. Nailed it.) We did successfully shop for the people we came in for...one lucky person is getting a Yeagers gift card (which honestly feels like a win for everyone). I also found the cutest raincoat ever, cowboys, cows, and horses, plus matching rain boots, BOTH marked down. I mean come on. Instant joy. Yeagers has an amazing selection of high-quality, top-tier outdoor clothing brands, a massive toy section, a great shoe department, and just so many things you didn't know you needed until you see them. It's one of those places where you go in for "one thing" and leave smiling with a cart full of happiness. Highly recommend especially during the holidays. Love this place. I got into fishing this year and went in knowing nothing. The young men who work in the fishing department are great. They taught me knots and lure combos and didn't make me feel stupid for not knowing anything. They have live bait and all the lures you could want. The selection of weights is less than some but only because they are often sold out. Prices are pretty average, I've seen some rods on sale but haven't seen sales on tackle yet. I appreciate the time they take in getting you set up and the welcoming atmosphere when you come in. The cashiers are always kind. read more

I have always been a fan of Yeagers and they continue to amaze. The parking lot is a bit crazy with the hills and small isles that is the biggest downfall and even that is not to bad. They have a great array of items and all at good prices, even at the gun counter. This is our go to place for ammo there is a good selection with affordable pricing. You can find anything for camping you could possibly need. The employees are very friendly and helpful. I was shopping with my mother and she waited for me upstairs while I looked at the toys downstairs and a lovely employee kept her company it was very appreciated. I scored some great deals on some clothing and toys on this trip. All in all this is a great place to stop in and check out. read more

Want to start out by saying I have been a long time customer of Yeagers. Over the years I have bought fishing,hunting,kayaking gear clothes from them. I was loyal to say the least. Over the last few years I have seen the place lose it customer service and inventory. Recently, I took in a hobie kayak for some simple repairs for a hobie dealership. My kayak sat there for almost 5 months and no one even looked at it. I called every month and would not hear back from the manager. He finally returned a call and said they would get to it soon and parts were ordered. Needless to say parts were never ordered and 2 more months went by and nothing. I finally gave up and picked my kayak up. Through this whole process it was pretty clear the manager doesn't care about their customers and keeping them. I would not recommend buying anything from them. Especially in the kayak department. Buy elsewhere even online you will have a better experience. read more

Go to REI for rentals. Was ignored for an hour and twenty minutes being the only people in line, another party being helped (for over an hour). Love supporting local business but certain employees don't understand a sense of urgency. Meanwhile others working overtime. You can acknowledge the people waiting for an hour and say LITERALLY ANYTHING. Guy was carrying a conversation with the people in front of us, small talk and storytelling standing around. There aren't many toy stores around anymore but Yeagers is classic with everything from board games to bouncy balls to those tiny plastic animals you can buy for cheap and glue to your dashboard to keep you company on long drives. The sporting goods part of the store is also classic: with lots of camping, hunting, fishing, boating and hiking gear that you won't find at Target or Wal-Mart. I don't know if Wal-Mart has cheaper prices on some items, but they definitely don't carry a lot of the specialty stuff you can find at Yeagers. Honestly, I couldn't be more impressed with the exceptional customer service at Yeager's. Dylan and Corey in the ski shop are awesome! Everything was on sale being the end of the season so super happy about that but the service that these guys have given me is over the top. Yeager's is like stepping back into the 1970's. Its got everything you could want in regards to sporting goods, plus the whole down stairs is a toy store. The whole store seems very schizoid. I had a friend that worked there in the 90's and the staff just put stuff where ever it would fit. That really hasn't changed. It's harder then hell to find something, even if you work there, but that's kind of the fun part. Its like a big scavenger hunt... Along the back wall is where they sell the guns. Its a huge wall of rifles and shot guns. Mixed in with the guns are the heads of giant herbivores that where unlucky enough to meet the wrong end of one of those guns. She showed me the whole selection and pulled out a model that was on the shelf for a while and told me she would give me 30% off. The tent was awesome! I put a 100 year-old shotgun on consignment, which sold fairly quickly. I then got a call that the shotgun wasn't working, and it was going to be sent off to be fixed. Fast forward 3 months, and I still hadn't received a consignment check, so I called to inquire. I was told I'd get a call back, but 5 days went by with no call. I called again, and the same thing. Finally, after 6 phone calls I was told that it had needed a new firing pin, but the cost was only around $50, and that I could come by to pick up my check. Come to find out that the cost of parts and labor for the firing pin was actually $200. The fact that it took so long, so many phone calls and that I wasn't even informed about what the repair costs would be is very unprofessional. I won't be putting anything else on consignment there in the future. read more

You can get the same fishing equipment , ammunition and firearms at other local stores for far less, sometimes 50% of the price . They also do a poor job stocking products and keeping the store organized. I love this local sporting goods store and they are my first stop if I need gear for camping, skiing or canoeing. The ski and paddle shop staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Most recently I received above and beyond service with ski boot fitting. I highly recommend shopping at Yeager's! We bought our son a pair of snowboarding boots from here, and after the first time he wore them the soles started to fall off. We tried returned them or exchange them and they wouldn't do anything to help. All they would do was email the manufacturer. It's been over 2 months and we have heard nothing from the store or manufacturer. I try to support local businesses but I can honestly say I will buy nothing from here again! Brendon, manager in the ski department, is fantastic. My husband and I came in to look at cross country ski equipment 3 times (!) each time meeting with Brendon, and each time spending maybe 45 minutes with him trying on ski boots without committing. He was endlessly patient, easy going, friendly, and non pressuring. We ultimately felt great about the cross country skis we purchased AND about Brendon. Awesome service!! read more

Great store with really good selection. The return policy is not great but it is pretty clearly stated at the registers and thats just how it goes sometimes. Fishing, hunting, clothing and toys... they've got something for everyone. That being said could you please work on the younger employees to be less worried about there personal lives and a little more worried about the customer that would be great. I was helped by an older bald gentleman over by the gun counter and he really had a ton of information and generally seemed interested in helping me. That is the difference between the 2 stars and the three stars. I'll keep going back partly becuase you're kindof the only game in town, partly becuase I like to buy locally and partly becuase the prices are generally good. I buy guns first of all and often. I've had to find a new place for transfers since my go to place Trading Post stopped transfers though I still buy a lot of new ones from there. Long story short I've had to go there three times for transfers. They don't call within three days of when the guns arrive at the store, there staff save for one very nice guy, are very condescending, and the last (and final time) I went there, they were trying to tell me about a rule the FBI had about an identification procedure that is not accurate. As I mention, I buy firearms often and around town, and in my years of buying have never encountered this ever an yes, I have bought many guns in this current year. What else is there to say? They are over priced, condescending, unfamiliar with the rules of procedure, and don't call when your gun comes in. Better places in town? Today I was looking at winter boots, hoping to find something, anything, in stock in my size (9.5 w), and reasonably priced. Once again, no luck. But what really aggravates me is being completely ignored! An employee, a young man, must have walked back and forth past me 4-5 times and didn't acknowledge me even once. Today was my first ever visit to Yaeger's. We arrived looking for a solution to carry our 2 kayaks on our car and were greeted by Dylan, who went above and beyond. The customer service was top notch. Not only did he help us get a rack and other gear, he showed us some basic paddle techniques and even mounted our rack accessory and showed us how to attach the kayak. Very dishonest business. On multiple occasions they have sold me defective products and made it such a hassle to return them I swore I would never go back. In one instance I had to argue with the store manager for several minutes just to try and exchange a defective pair of sunglasses. He offered me a $15 store credit on the $30 glasses. This year, I drove by their "Anniversary sale" and decided to pop in to give them another try. I overheard the cashier girls saying loudly "Oh yeah, we have to mark everything UP before we mark it DOWN." How dishonest. I wrote the store manager a letter expressing my concerns, and offering him the chance to make it right. He basically told me to shove it. I will never shop here again. If they sell you defective products (which they do all the time), you're on your own. They mark things up and then mark them down to provide an illusion of discount. Their managers are incompetent.
