I knew that we had a pay a visit while in town. What a great experience! Schroeder's has been open since 1891. While I loved learning about their history...it's a great place to shop. Schroeder's has a coffee house, men's and women's clothing, a yarn shop, bookstore, a toy store, souvenirs and all sorts of other merchandise. I bought a few books and a pair of moccasin slippers. My friends bought t-shirts and a puzzle. The people working the store were helpful, friendly and truly passionate about Schroeder's history. This is a store that has managed to stay true to its heritage, but stay relevant. If you're in the Manitowoc/Two Rivers area, Schroeder's Department Store is a must stop kind of place. Located in the quaint…read moredowntown area of Plymouth Wisconsin, the Sewing Basket has a tremendous selection of fabric- roughly four-large-rooms combined. I am always drawn into fabric stores while on a quest to secure fabric for my supremely artistic twin sister. I am not a quilter/crafter/sewer by any means. My twin sister has not met a fabric store she hasn't fallen in love with. So, for her, I went to the shop with no intention of purchasing material. I sent her photos of material. Next thing you know....one hour later... three large bags of material and $200 later, I escaped. Needless to say, my twin was pleased. Her particular favorites included the fabric with sewing cats and the Wisconsin-outdoor-printed fabrics. The Sewing Basket seems to be a community favorite- a gathering spot and a place that offers classes. The owner was very friendly and accommodating.
