They had an AC team come in and although they couldn't fix the unit while we were there, they had a portable unit installed to take care of the immediate issue. And more importantly, Manu, the manager, worked to reach an acceptable arrangement to cover our discomfort. Everyone who works in the shop the owners included are amazing down to earth people. Getting to see the shop in it's daily routine while we took the class was great. Everything they do here is done with pride. It is truly an American made shop!! With their pride in not changing what Tom Morgan created is exactly what keeps them a great company. Ric Plante the rod smith who teaches the class is one of a kind. His moto is there's nothing we can't fix. Now days that's very rare!! The work is very repetitive and takes time but with Rics patience and great teaching skills it helps to keep on going. This river felt like a movie set, as it is exactly what you think Montana would be like. I was sitting there pinching myself like damn places like this actually exist? Being from LA and living in New York, I rarely get to be this connected with the earth, so when I get the opportunity I do my best to enjoy it. The other thing I realized was having a clear view of the night sky, with no light pollution, is beyond humbling. The stars just right in your face FLEXING on you, with shooting stars being a regular occurrence. I just felt so connected to everything, and everyone. 100 years ago and all of eternity before that, every human being had this view every night. It would explain why we were much more religious/spiritual. I think a non light polluted sky would solve a lot of our current problems: It reminds you how small you are, or that there has to be some sort of creator or purpose to all of this. Every dot in the sky is essentially another sun...? What an insane concept. I can't even comprehend that. In a weird way though, it brings me peace. The Outfitters group that takes us out onto the water and teaches us to Fly fish is Montana's Last Best Outfitters " MLBO" Some of us had never picked up a fishing pole let a lone a fly rod. Others who have fished with your regular rod and reel learned very quickly there is a huge difference between that and a fly rod. Lucky for us we had the staff members from MLBO. They were patient and very knowledgeable with the rods, and specific flies to use, having them on the river with us almost felt like we were cheating. Sure we had to put in the work casting and landing a fish, but each one would point us in the direction to cast and sure enough a few moments later we were struggling to land them. MLBO has generations upon generations of knowledgable, passionate and experienced fisherman. In the military when someone has been on tour after tour we call them "seasoned veterans" or "salt dogs" well the members of MLBO would be the "seasoned veterans of the water" Thank you guys for everything. I couldn't imagine being in your neck of the woods and not wanting your guidance on the water.
