Delicious latte's and plenty of seating. This place is popular too, but they do have some seating out as well. I just got a Chai Tea latte, and it did hit the spot. From what I remember the breakfast items are premade, so ingredients are what they come with, because of that I did not get anything to eat that day.

Yellowbird is an adorable small coffee shop in St Paul which has one of my favorite drinks off all time, The Selby. It's a chai latte with ginger chai, vanilla syrup and burnt sugar. So so so good!! The place is usually busy but the staff is very friendly! I love the fun menu and so many drink options! There is a small attached lot and free off street parking available.

Stopped by on Saturday morning to try their fall flavors, got the Nutty Bird and very much enjoyed it! As much as I loved my drink, I was a little shocked when it rang up around $8.50 but I did appreciate that there's no extra charge for alternative milk. The inside is smaller, a handful of tables for small groups, as well as a couple barstools by the window.

Such a cute coffeeshop with a nice tucked away vibe despite being right on Selby, Yellowbird does a great job of being a cozy coffeeshop with nice seating indoor and out. Tons of yellow bird decorations really add to the ambiance. And the coffee is great too! Fast service when I was there, and my plain cold brew was rich and refreshing, exactly what I needed.

Perfect little urban neighborhood coffee shop! Lots of tasty coffee options, very friendly staff, and a pleasant mess of evidence along all the walls that they care about the neighborhood and the larger community. It's a small enough space, with a contented enough customer base, that it can be a bit crowded during peak hours. They have parking spaces in the back (NOTE: it's not the parking lot next to them, you have to enter from Dunlap Street and park behind them), but those are also claimed quickly when it's busy. So just park on the street like we all do for so many businesses in this charming part of town. I like the Hamline, a sweet coffee treat with a modest mix of unique flavors; it's good enough to get every time, but I want to try more of what they have. I've also had a "morning bun" which I really liked (heated up is best).

What a local gem. Friendly service, cute location and yummy treats. Perfect spot for a meet up! Street parking, convenient location, clean bathrooms and dog friendly!

Cute coffee shop with a great variety of signature drinks! I got the Lex which comes with chocolate and caramel and ordered it iced. It came out quickly and tasted pretty good. There's some seating inside, and parking behind their store which is very convenient. I didn't spend much time here, more of a grab and go thing but I'd love to come back!

First of all we found this place on Yelp and landed on it because of the high reviews and how close it was to our airbnb. I was a bit worried about a wait as it looked popular but with two people we were able to get in pretty quick (less than 5 min wait) on a Sunday morning. It was packed though, so there might be a wait. Space is at a premium in this building and despite being a bit crammed in it was still a great experience overall. Honestly everything was wonderful. The server: A+, ambiance: great, food: holy hell it was delicious. I had some sort of benedict that came on cornbread and was paired with some incredible hashbrowns. Chef's kiss. I also ordered a specialty mocha for fun and it also did not disappoint. This place is a slam dunk for breakfast. If you live in the twin cities and you haven't eaten here yet what are you doing!?

I have seen people argue with the owner. It's a small place and he values his staff so much that he will not opt for income over his staff's mental health or stress level. I admire that so much. Based on my affection for " hole in the…read morewall" type places & the restaurants outside appearance I knew I had to eventually give it a try. The interior is clean & cozy with just the right amount of booths & tables plus a Waffle House style counter right in front of the flat~top griddle. The very personable & friendly wait person immediately brought me water, followed by a hot mug of coffee. Happily it was just a regular "cup of Joe" diner style coffee instead of the dark, muddy, bitter Starbucks imitation stuff found in all the trendy places in this area. After checking out the plate of the other counter customer I decided to have what he was having; the Uptowner eggs Bennie. English muffin w/andouille sausage patties, perfectly poached eggs hollandaise sauce sprinkled lightly w/ cayenne & a large order of crispy hash browns made with real fresh potato instead of the dehydrated-then rehydrated boxed kind served in most places. Everything was absolutely spot on! The breakfast menu also features pancakes, various egg dishes & many omelet choices. Sadly, I could only eat one breakfast! I really enjoyed watching the cook rapidly crafting the various dishes in front of me; this guy was a genius at the grill! He & the other cook seemed like they really enjoyed their work, smiling & laughing while carrying on a conversation in Spanish. In short; the food was terrific, the service awesome and the atmosphere welcoming & neighborly. I will be returning often!

I love the authentic cafe vibe in here: cozy, simplistic diner basics like counter stools and booths. The place is adorned with drawings from kids and adults alike showing love for the Uptowner - so cool. I ordered some breakfast classics: hashbrowns, bacon, eggs, etc - and WOW the meal was delish. The hashbrowns were perfection! My service was great - the one server holding things down was so kind and efficient. I love diners where you can see the chef griddling right in front of you. A man in need came in towards the end of my visit, and the waitress provided him with a cup of coffee to warm up - I chose to pay for his coffee, but it's these little acts of kindness from restaurant teams that show why restaurants are the heart of our community. Thank you!

Even though I had never been to the Colossal Cafe, they seemed to be just what we wanted. The cute cafe (Grand Ave location) is a cozy place and it was easy to find street parking around the corner, not far from the front entrance. We were able to snag a table by the window, so it was also great for people watching. My cousin ordered tea and I ordered coffee and I was pleased that they came by frequently offering refills. The service was helpful, cheerful and friendly, perfect for showing my New York cousin, what "Minnesota Nice" is all about. The food was excellent. I had the bacon, green onion and cream cheese omelet ($16) which I really enjoyed. I also enjoyed the toast with a side of orange marmalade. The omelet was well made (not always the case when I order at a restaurant) and the ingredients they added gave it a cravable taste. In fact, I was so impressed with this combination, I made it at home the following weekend. My cousin had the Greek Frittata ($15.50) with grilled marinated artichoke, spinach, green onion, feta and tomato. She thoroughly enjoyed it. Although the total a bit on the tad on the high side for breakfast ($45.88 before tip) this was a great place to have breakfast, chill, and talk.

If the weather is nice, the outdoor seating is definitely the way to go because there is a ton of it. Our server was friendly and had some really helpful recommendations, which I appreciated. The one downside was that they did not check in very often. Normally that would not have bothered me much, but the restaurant is very strict about table time limits, so it created a surprisingly stressful dining experience. It felt like we were racing the clock while also waiting to get our server's attention. The drinks started things off on a decent note. The banana bread latte was good, but I honestly could not taste any banana bread. The espresso martini was also fine, though it leaned pretty bitter and was not the easiest cocktail to sip. The food was all over the place. The mini donuts were easily the biggest disappointment. They somehow tasted overfried while also lacking sweetness, which is not exactly what you want from a donut. The monkey pancakes were much better. They were loaded with sweet toppings, but the pancakes themselves were not overly sweet, which kept the dish from becoming overwhelming. I also tried the pork belly biscuit. The biscuit itself was delicious, but the entire dish was absolutely drowning in sauce, and the pork belly was much chewier than I expected. Overall, there were enough things I enjoyed that I would not completely write this place off, but between the uneven food and the rushed feeling created by the seating policy, it was not the relaxing brunch experience I was hoping for.
