Drinks were strong and inexpensive (compared to CA prices). Food was very good. We popped in to watch Thursday night football, so we had pub food for the most part; steak fingers-excellent, buffalo wings with sauce on the side-very good, and chips and guac. The server Glynis was awesome. I probably will never be in Glendive MT ever again, so I won't be back, but I recommend the place to anyone staying in the area. read more

We stopped in here last night at the lounge casino. Was a nice little place. Machine were loose, very surprising for a small place Was very clean and the staff kept checking our drinks to make sure we were ok Drinks free while you gamble The food smelled so good in the restaurant that we decided to have dinner here They had a prime rib special.. However I didn't get it because when I ordered it rare the server told me I wouldn't be happy with it because it was at best med rare then the other server / barmaid asked what was we talking about she then proceeds to want to argue with me that prime rib is never served rare at any restaurant. ( Really ??.. Wow !!.....) So I ordered the Scott's Choice and hubby ordered the salmon Both were very good Soup was excellent. Rice was kind of dry Also ordered lemon meringue pie to go All in all a good place to relax unwind and grab a bit to eat As for the hotel I can't tell you we stayed across the street However they do have truck and trailer / large vehicle parking here Not sure if hotel accepts pets or not I would have given 5 stars but having a waitress want to argue with me over something she has no idea about... I think this is probably 5 stars for "truck stop motel in small-town Montana". It's actually a good motel by any motel standard. We stayed in a ground floor pet room and did not have problems with noise. Room smelled a bit musty, but seriously, pet room. We put a cat in it and I'm sure he didn't improve the aroma. Room prices were the cheapest in town. Attached hotel restaurant is pretty decent too. Good prices, a few local brews, and the burgers are allegedly from MT grass-fed beef. (They do taste better.) Wait staff are friendly and accommodating; I asked for extra-crispy fries and got 'em with a crunch that would satisfy a Belgian. I don't know if I'll ever pass through Glendive again, but I'd stay here again if I did. read more

We were so excited to find that this place was open on the 4th of July! We came in and ordered an appetizer of nachos. Not realizing how huge they would be, we also ordered 2 meals! When the nachos came out, they were huge. They were also very delicious. We also ordered a taco salad and a veggie sandwich, which were also both very large! The before sandwich was especially good, and very filling. Our service was great, both fast and friendly. We really enjoyed eating here, and went to the casino after! Unfortunately I didn't win big! This was the third time in two years to the establishment. The service gets worse over time. The quality of steak prep is still the worst I've experienced in Montana, which is unfortunate because of the quality of beef available here. Maybe a new cook would make a difference. read more

A friend recommended this place. I stopped and ate supper and it was quite busy. I had to remind the waiter a couple of times to bring me the additional things I asked for. However, the food was excellent and I had no complaints. The baked potato was cooked perfectly and so was the steak. This is definite recommend if you are in the area for dinner. read more

This restaurant also has an attached casino which seems to be the norm in Montana. There are "casinos" everywhere, but I digress. YRI is a typical diner; service is fast but general inattentive. My issue mainly was with the quality of the food. My grilled cheese was average and tasteless. My husband had a pathetic house salad and unappetizing flank steak with a bland sauce. The previous reviews do not reflect the reality of this restaurant. Unfortunately, there are not many other options around, particularly later at night. read more

The YRI restaurant doesn't look like anything special but the food is delicious and the staff could not be nicer. I ordered two salads to go -- a Greek salad with shrimp and a Buffalo chicken salad. The Greek had more shrimp than an order of scampi and the Buffalo was just spicy enough with tender chicken pieces. The whole meal was satisfying after a long day's drive. If I ever pass this way again I would detour for a repeat. read more

Food over all at this place is very good. Since this is beef country I was curious and ordered the big ribeye (medium rare). It was cooked perfectly and the rest that came with it, which is the mash potato & gravy and meaty beef barley soup was very tasty. Most of the peps in my group ordered the 1/2 burger and they all cleaned their plate and claimed the beef on the burger was very tasty. All home made including the pies (coconut & lemon meringue pie also excellent ). Service ok, but would go there again. read more

Five stars for cleanliness. Two stars for customer service. We've been staying in a lot of budget hotels this summer and this is the cleanest one we have been to, spotless but the towels and sheets smelled a bit like chlorine. The AC worked well and there was a huge selection of channels on the flat screen tv. The room was spacious, but the walls were thin. We were woken up by a dog barking in a nearby room. They seem to be a bit understaffed. The wait staff appear to be trying to handle both the restaurant and the hotel at the same time. It was hard to get through when we called. When someone finally answered we were put on hold for ten minutes. Thought they forgot about us, so hung up and tried again and finally got to reserve our room. She said she did not forget about us, but was busy answering three different phones. All in all, we would stay here again. read more

Let me start this review with the service is very nice and polite and the burgers are solid. But, our hopes of finding a cute, truck stop, family owned hotel/restaurant on our road trip was disappointing for the following reasons. 1- They didn't have our reservation, even though we had called and set it up. When we checked in, they didn't have our name on file and when we told them we had a dog, they didn't have any pet rooms available. The woman checking us in (who was actually the bartender bc the server/front desk person didn't know how to use the computer) felt bad and gave us a room anyway bc it 'wasn't our fault that someone didn't reserve the room properly'. Redeeming star #1. 2- The room was clean enough, but the towels reeked of chlorine and all the carpets in the place had water stains. 3- Poor management as the front desk/waitress was the only one in the entire hotel/restaurant helping customers/guests. Poor girl was running around trying to get everyone's orders, run food, and check folks in. The bartender and cook finally helped (reluctantly) while bad mouthing the girl to the customers saying she was 'crashing'. I've been in the restaurant/hospitality industry for years and this only reflects management's lack of training program and understaffing on a Saturday night. Overall, I'd come back for a burger, but nothing else. And we had such high hopes! read more

This is my third visit to YRI. Traveling with a well-behaved Brit, it is the perfect stop. Clean and convenient. Dated and well worn - yes. But so am I! There's nothing like a safe, well lit parking place that backs up to your door. And relieving the dog is a snap. No elevators, long halls, stairwells, lobby, etc. Best value in town. read more

When on the road this is a must stop for a Montana Breakfast. Introduced to this gem when we stopped over night from MInneapolis on our way to Big Sky in 2006. We were up early filling with gas when state trooper Rossi pulled up to the gas pump behind us. A friendly morning chat had trooper David Rossi of the Montana State patrol escorting us to the Yellowstone river inn. And we make a point to stop every time. The southwestern omelette is my favorite. Everything they make is truly homemade. Good clean rooms. Older decorations. This inn would have gotten 5 stars of there was more soundproofing in the doors and the appliances in the room were quiet or the rates were lowered accordingly. Our room had a mini fridge that talked while running, which actually worked to create white noise to drown out people in the hallway which could be heard through the door. We stopped here on our way back to Seattle from Wisconsin. The most amazing service and cheeseburgers. Our bartender was courteous, friendly, attentive, very sweet. The good- motel is clean and comfortable by $70 motel standards. The Bad- Motel seems to be staffed out of a restaurant. I had to ring the bell 3 times and wait about 5 minutes for anyone to come in. The rooms have 2 entry doors one from the inside and one outside entrance. when I stepped out of the out the outside door which I had not yet used I found another key hanging from the lock which would have allowed anyone into the room from the outside. Worst biscuits and gravy ever. Biscuits were sour tasting and the gravy was super thin. read more

Restaurant has good food and there is a very nice little bar attached to the hotel. Very conveniently located just off the interstate, with a gas station right next door. New Years Eve supper for the family of five. Arrived about 6:30pm . Very friend gentleman greeted us and took drink order. Ten minutes later accepted orders of the evenings. Total bill was about $155 plus I tipped for total of $185. Left YRI about 7:50pm. The service was very SLOW as this was NOT a busy place. 45 minutes later food arrived all were luke warm. Not happy. But the waiter did a nice job..We were usually happy with their lunch or evening meals. Pick up the pace YRI.we expected more for the price. read more

One of the BEST small town diners I've ever been to! I ordered the chicken strips and they were phenomenal, they were an appetizer and they were the size of my head. I had to add this restaurant to Yelp. It has really good food and wine at really good prices. They give you lettuce choices for your salad: iceberg, romaine or spinach. There is an option to add two colossal shrimp to your steak order for a few bucks. The bottles of wine were priced between $13-21...for a whole bottle! Many choices of pies were available for dessert. It's a winner. I'll be back! read more
