Tacomasa Taqueria celebrates soft opening with Yelpers by switching things up with Taco Thursday! Thank you Hayley plus Ari and Team Tacomasa for the yumminess event! I heart tacos -- especially street tacos. The private event was also "training day" as a dress rehearsal for the entire team from servers to cooks. The team was sizzling and super friendly! Nearly everyone arrived on time, with Arianna handling check-in and Hayley guiding us to the designated spot. While waiting, I enjoyed two refreshing cups of Agua Fresca - jamaica and guava. There were 6 different flavors to choose from so anyone with mixology background would enjoy the drink station. We each got a choose of 4 generous of either Tacos, Mulitas, or Vampiros with choices of proteins. The tacos were delicious with the corn tortillas made in-house. I was being extra adventurous so tried the tripe and cactus (very acquired taste). The tacos were delicious with the corn tortillas made in-house. If I can do a re-do, I would opt-out of the cactus for chicken instead. I was so full that when it was time for dessert I almost cried knowing that I wouldn't be able to finish it. Finding street parking was pretty much impossible. Thankfully they're located in the corner near the public parking structure. I was seated with the last group. There's a decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating. I really like the Yelp napkins and table placements. Everything was clean, including the outdoor seating. Every worker was courteous, efficient, and attentive. Special shout out to Marco, the assistant manager, for giving us great recommendations! He's very knowledgeable about the menu items and helped us make decisions when we ordered. I ordered the Pollo Asada taco, Tripa taco, and Asado Vampiro. I really appreciate how generous they are with the meats. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The red and green sauce made it even more flavorful with a nice spicy kick. The vampiro was absolutely crunchy! The toppings and avocado were fresh. The Agua Frescas tastes exactly as it sounds. FRESH. I didn't get to try them all. I only tried the Pepino con Limón and Guayaba con Limón. The cucumber & pineapple were my favorite. I will say you can taste the cucumber more than the pineapple. The guava & lemon was citrusy. Thanks Hayley, Ari, everybody else on the Yelp team, and Tacomasa for this great event, I would never have known this was a training session for the restaurant, as the staff were 100% on point with friendliness, knowledge, and excellent service. Ordering went quickly and large portions of food came out very timely. It was nice to be able to taste the various aguas frescas. I tried three or four, and they were all amazingly fresh. The standout for me was the platano banana. It was so creamy, it was almost like a milkshake. The hint of cinnamon elevated it even further. I chose to go with four tacos. The Asada steak taco was my favorite and came with a massive amount of meat. The Adobada pork taco was a surprise, and way more flavorful than I was expecting. The Pollo Asado chicken taco was just ok. I think it could have used more seasoning or grilled flavor. I wouldn't normally order the Nopal cactus taco, but I was curious to try it as I have enjoyed a cactus steak in the past. It was actually pretty good, and a great option for non-meat eaters. I liked that all of the tacos came with onion, cilantro, and a nice scoop of guacamole on top. The two salsas were flavorful with different heat levels. I was so stuffed from eating the four tacos, I ended up passing on the ice cream to avoid a total food coma. The group events are always fun, and it is great to mingle and meet other Yelpers. This was some amazing food and amazing atmosphere. The lengua tacos especially I found delectable. Lengua has always been a crave-able meat to me, appealing to the part of me that loves stuff off the beaten path when it comes to my meats. Lengua hits with just that right experience of bold and unexpected. And the lengua vampiro taco here was superb--managing to mingle flavors and spices that accentuated the flavor of the lengua. The abodoba too was great. I thought it would make a great counter-point to the lengua and it did its job. I also enjoyed the watermelon aqua fresca. They had so many options that it was hard to narrow it down to this one. It was refreshing and not overly sweet. I really could have swigged this all night but that would've just left me a bloated mess. So too was the abuelita chocolate soft serve. It came at just the right time. I'm not really a huge fan of soft serve when it comes to dairy desserts. But I found this version of chocolate sauce--homemade I think--a deft touch and a step up from what you think of when someone mentions soft serve. The staff was great and welcoming. I had good interactions with everyone I came into contact with. If this is how they are everyday this whole place will be a success. Had to check out the buzz for the new Tacomasa in Brea and I'm happy I got to do so through the Yelp dinner party series. While we waited in line to order, Diana, a Tacomasa staff, was so kind to go around and present the menu and answer any questions. She was so friendly and made excellent recommendations. Ordering was simple and the staff were so attentive. Hayley was so kind as to walk us over to the drink station and then to our tables. A huge thank you to her and the whole team. I didn't order tacos but some other table mates did, and they were HUGE. The mulitas and vampiros were also sizable and very filling. I had one mulita de asada and one vampiro de nopal (cactus). The vampiro de nopal was my favorite. I love the crunch of the vampiro and the salsa, cheese, guac added such good flavor. I tried the cucumber and pineapple agua fresca and the Jamaica. Both were refreshing, but if you prefer a less sweet drink, like me, I recommend going with the Jamaica. The abuelita ice cream was divine and the perfect ending to a lovely dinner. Was delighted to see they had a large assortment of agua fresca flavors to choose from, my favorite was the guayana con limon but the sandia mixed with pepino con limon can in a close second. Also love that they have pebbled ice. Selected 2 tacos (lengua and adobada) and a mulita (asada). Meat portion sizes are large for the taco, which is A++. My favorite meat was the adobada, which was moist and flavorful and packed a punch. Close second was the asada. Finished the meal off with chocolate abuelita side serve, which was delightful in flavor, and not too sweet and overwhelming. I've lived nearby Downtown Brea/Birch and I can tell this spot is going to be a game changer, because it finally has the casual authentic taco spot it's been missing!! I was excited to try las agua frescas. Host came and asked if we wanted smaller cups to taste them all. Why sure,we will try. I went for the banana and that was like having a milk shake. I was SO grateful to be able to attend this Yelp dinner party--it was such a fun experience, and I would absolutely go to another event in the future. These gatherings are such a great way to meet new people, try different spots, and enjoy a lively atmosphere. This was my first time at this restaurant (though I later learned it's a smaller SoCal chain), and I was excited because I had been craving tacos. I was in the 7:30 group, so by the time we started it was sundown, which worked out perfectly since the space is so open--I imagine it gets pretty hot earlier in the day. Seating was prompt, and I was paired with five other people I had never met before. Everyone was lovely, and the vibe of the whole event was infectious. To start, we were able to sample all of the agua frescas, and my favorite by far was the guava lemon. I was so happy to be able to take a cup home to share with my girlfriend, who also loved it. When it came time to order, the staff was incredibly helpful in giving suggestions, and I ended up with the asada mulitas, pollo asado taco, and an adobada taco. Now, separating my food review from the event itself (because the event was 10/10), the food itself was unfortunately a miss for me. The chicken taco looked under-seasoned, and sure enough, it tasted plain--just regular chicken without much flavor. The adobada was also lacking, which was disappointing since I normally love adobada. The asada had the same issue: bland overall, and the sauces didn't do much to elevate it. At $5 a taco, I wouldn't come back for the food alone. That said, the chocolate ice cream was fantastic--rich, creamy, and a very generous portion size, which I really appreciated. I would come back just for that dessert. Another fun touch was the blind boxes Yelp provided. I'm a sucker for blind boxes, so this was such a cute surprise. I originally got socks, but I ended up trading with someone at my table for the jade roller (which my cat now loves). It was such a fun memento of the night and made the experience even more memorable. Overall, while the food wasn't for me, the event itself was a blast. Hands down the best Yelp event I have ever been to! We were able to order either 4 tacos, 2 mulitas or 2 vampiros + a drink + abuelita ice cream AND they had Yelp blind boxes for everyone. The Yelp team truly thought of everything--from the perfectly set tables and custom menus to the cute napkins and even a surprise goody box. Every little detail felt intentional. Service was seamless from start to finish--smooth check-in, attentive staff, and a sweet ending with dessert. The food? Delicious. I went for two Carne Asada tacos and an adobada mulita. Whoever decided to tuck guacamole inside that mulita deserves a medal--it gave it that extra flavor boost I've never had in other versions. And then there were the aguas frescas... Wow! This was my first yelp event and it has definitely inspired me to go to more! Thank you to the Yelp team and of course the team at Tacomasa for hosting and working so hard on such a great event! The tacos I got were pollo asada (chicken) and adobada (pork). The vampiro was asada (steak). The meat in everything was a good portion. I really enjoyed the meats and the flavors! I'm not a big steak girl and I actually really enjoyed the vampiro! Additionally, since it was my first vampiro, I did enjoy the texture of the crunchy corn tortillas and the cheese! Would definitely get again. Also enjoyed both the tacos and the meats. I tried the Sandia (watermelon) agua fresca and the green one (I think it was pepino con limon - cucumber and pineapple or lemon?) and both were refreshing and tasty! Had such a great time at this Yelp dinner party event! I got to try four tacos combo, which were steak, pork, chicken, and lengua (beef tongue) and the lengua was my favorite. Super tender, easy to eat, and the creamy guac + 3 sauces that were given to us on the side made everything pop even more. The chocolate abuelita soft serve was such a fun twist too, like it was a mix of horchata and Mexican chocolate, really creative and yummyy. I grabbed the cucumber lime agua fresca, which was refreshing and sweet without being over the top. This has got to be one of the greatest nights I've ever had this year. I have been eating tacos for the past couple weeks but this place takes the cake. The tacos were HUGE. My favorites were the lengua and pork. After two tacos and a mulita, I was full. There was no need to eat anymore. However, I was swayed by the smell of good food, so I had to get more! I love tacos so I was very excited to have been a part of this dinner party. Tacomasa was easy to find. There were plenty of parking in the structures or lots so I didn't struggle with finding parking. I ordered two vampiros (1 pollo asado and 1 asada). They were really filling and I was pleasantly surprised at how well-seasoned the meats were. Though the salsas weren't as spicy as I'd like them to be, they were very tasty and great additions to the vampiros. There was a huge selection of agua fresca to choose from. I tried both the sandia and pepino and pina. They were refreshing and not so sweet. The dinner party ended with the soft serve dessert. It was yummy and not too sweet. I didn't finish the dessert because I'm not too much of a dessert person. I left the dinner very satisfied with a full belly. Thank you Hayley for organizing this experience! :) Easy to find parking since this restaurant is located in a plaza. It's kind of hidden behind all the other stores, but you can't miss the restaurant name in big letters! The place is clean and spacious with seating inside and outside. You order at the register and then wait for your food using number signs they give you. I had a great time! My server, Diana, was incredibly sweet and took care of me the whole time. She helped give recommendations from the menu and checked up on me in the end to make sure I was getting the full experience. Really happy vibes from everyone which makes the food all moreso delicious! 9/10 Pork + Steak Tacos: The meat was cooked extremely well and the sauces paired nicely with the tacos. I will say I wished we got more side toppings like the onions and radishes but maybe they didn't want the toppings to deviate from the flavor profile they were trying to go for. I love heavy onions and radishes on my tacos, so I would request if this is possible next time. I prefer the pork over steak taco. 6/10 Steak Mulitas: I had no idea what a mulita was, so I was curious to try it out! It's like a taco but the burger version. Not the biggest fan of cheese in general and I didn't like the dressing in the mulita, so it didn't hit the spot for me. 9/10 Agua Fresca: I tried the Pepino con Limón (cucumber + pineapple) and horchata! Dived into an oasis of tacos today with the Yelp Elite fam and it was worth every bite! With a very diverse menu and very friendly vibes all around, the dining experience at Tacomasa Brea was awesome. With a pretty neat menu, we had a choice of either 4 Tacos, 2 Mulitas, or 2 Vampiros. Well, if you got the hint from my first mentioning of tacos...Yup, I got the tacos. I got the Asada, Pollo Asado, Adobada, and the Tripa. And my verdict of one says the tacos were pretty darn good! I especially enjoyed the Tripa, or Tripe - just really perfect on the crispiness and flavor. The Pollo Asado, or the chicken, was good but just a little drippy. But, still a good-tasting taco! The Guayaba Agua Fresca was a perfect choice to wash down my meal. I wish I had more time to try the other flavors, but I'll have to next time. I almost forgot about dessert, but absolutely loved the Chocolate Abuelita ice cream. It was so creamy and delicious! What an amazing set up for an awesome event for such a yummy restaurant! Born and raised in East LA, this almost LA - but barely OC Fullerton resident can NEVER say no to a new taco joint in the area! The Tacos here actually surprised me. The pollo was on point, juicy and flavorful with not a dry bite in sight! The guacamole definitely hit the spot with a splash of lime and a hit of the salsa verde. The Asada was clean, with large portions and went perfectly with the guacamole as well! The Adobada was double wrapped with the house made tortillas (which ALL tacos come with) and I believe had an avocado salsa on top. I should also add that all the tacos come with onions and cilantro and your choice of salsa. Although the tacos were delicious, what really hit home for me were the Aguas Frescas! I'm so happy to have a taco spot in birch street! Loved the food options they let us choose from, I ended up ordering 2 asada and 2 pollo tacos. They are very generous with the meat and guac. I think I tried almost all the Agua frescas and have to say the guava one was my favorite! All the staff were friendly , knowledgeable about the menu and had great customer service. I love the open kitchen layout. The taco was delicious!! the carne asada was so tender and flavorful. The spicy salsa was good, but as a spice freak, it could be spicier. I love the self serve agua fresca, I think that's a game changer. watermelon was my favorite, I had 2 cups of it and took a togo cup home. The chocolate abuelita soft serve was the cherry on top to a great dinner party. I love these type of events, it gets you to meet new people. What a great event! I hadn't been to a Yelp event in years, so this was a good event to start off again. Check-in was smoother and ordering was quick and easy. I ordered the 4 tacos: lengua, carne asada, adobada, and chicken. These would typically be almost $5 a piece. I also tried the watermelon juice and the Horchata, both of which were very delicious with a good amount of sweetness. The food came out fast and the portions were large! I would say 2 tacos could fill you up pretty well. I ate all 4 in one sitting and I was very full by the end of the event. I enjoyed the carne asada taco the most and the chicken taco the least. There was a generous portion of meat and guacamole in each taco (except for the lengua and adobada tacos), so it added more flavor. The chicken taco was nothing to rave about, but I'm also not the biggest fan of chicken tacos anyway. But I did want to try one of each. The soft serve was pretty good too. I saw what the mulitas looked like and they looked like one or two could fill you up more than tue tacos even. At the very end, everyone received a surprise Yelp swag, and I got the jade face roller. Neat stuff! Very well organized event and I'm glad I got to try Tacomasa for the first time. read more

Wow so well organized (again). The restaurant was great. The staff was so friendly and kept asking us if we want to try anything else. I had the four tacos so I could try all the meats. Interesting that they double the tortilla for the adobada which is my favorite meat here. The other tacos have handmade tortillas single layered. People say the guac is good but I'm not a guac person. Salsas were delicious. The one that looks like ketchup isn't but has a chipotle flavor. The one that is dark green is an asada salsa and mild. They have a spicy one in the back upon request. The atmosphere is clean and orderly with the color scheme of Clase Azul IYKYK. read more

I had the pleasure of attending the Yelp Dinner Party here and had such a wonderful time! Staff were so attentive and kind. I decided on 4 asada tacos with cilantro, onions, and guacamole. They have an assortment of agua frescas and I absolutely was OBSESSED with the sandia one. It was refreshing, had great watermelon flavor, and not too sweet. I also went with my cousin who RAVED about the guava one, will definitely need to try that one as well. Salsa was provided as a side and it was mild, but yummy enhancing the flavor of the tacos. The portion of meat was plenty, they didn't skimp out haha and it was very tender. We ended the night with abuelita chocolate soft serve which was so creamy and delicious with that hint of cinnamon. Great food, great company! Thank you Tacomasa and Yelp OC for another outstanding time dining out. It is so great to have this restaurant in Brea. The location is easy to find, easy to park in the FREE parking garages or on the street. I loved my food! The tortillas used to make my tacos were top quality--definitely restaurant level in a fast food concept. Appreciation to the tortilla maker. I ordered so much food thinking the size would be street taco size, but these are larger sized tortillas/tacos. That's great for the price! I loved my spicy pork taco--it was the star of my night, and I enjoyed the tripa taco. Both were super tasty and the guacamole was delicious. The chicken vampiros was excellent as well. I loved the cheese on it most of all and the chicken was tender and the crunch on the tortillas was chef's kiss delicious! Finally, I also tried the carne asada mulitas. It was delicious, but I had to take it to go because I was too full to give it a proper review. The Jamaica was super delicious and refreshing, and the chocolate Abuelita soft serve was great as well. Loved the cinnamon flavor so much. I'll return soon! read more

Great event !! This was a day prior ro theor opening! Staff was really nice, they made sure guests understood what they have in their menu and were doing theor best to answer any questions that we might have. The food was fresh and amazing too- i got fresh tacos, freshly made drinks and ice cream. This was my first Yelp Event and I'm excited to go to more! I had so much fun and met fellow foodies! Thank you to Yelp for the invite and the amazing Tacomasa team for a great night! The service was by far amazing! The lady outside handing out menus was so nice and friendly. She answered any questions I had about the menu, especially because I did not know the difference between mulitas and vampiros. The service inside as well was so warm and welcoming, the guy in the blue shirt also asked if I had any questions and was willing to let me know that I can mixed it up between the tacos, mulitas and vampiros. My food was brought to me and they gave sauces with it and the lady from outside let me know the difference in the sauces. They are very informative and came by regularly to check in on us. The food was delicious. I ordered 2 Tacos, Asada (steak) and Pollo Asado (chicken), and 2 Mulitas, Asada (steak) and Adobada (pork). I loved the mulitas the most because of the cheese melt and this was my first time trying it. I heard the vampiro is a crunchy shell but I don't usually like crunchy shells which is why I chose to try the mulitas which is a soft tortilla. I don't usually eat chicken tacos but this one was really good and I'm glad I decided to give it a try. All the meats were good and flavorful. The portion size looks right to the price, I think people would get their money's worth for the portion. They were very generous with the amount of protein and the guacamole. For the aguas frescas, I got the Pepino con Piña (cucumber & pineapple) and it was refreshing! I wish I tried the other flavors but I loved this so much. I did try the Horchata though and that was the perfect amount of sweetness to it. The Chocolate Abuelita Soft Serve was soo good as well, not overpowering in sweetness which I like. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family! I got sat next to some lovely ladies at a bar table and we got to chatting and added each other on yelp. What an amazing event - thank you so much to Hayley, Ari, and the Tacomasa staff for hosting! I ordered 2 asada, 1 adobada, and pollo asado taco and portions were super generous. We got to try any agua fresca of our choice, and the guayaba con limon was super refreshing and a nice palate cleanser. I enjoyed getting to meet fellow Yelpers, and we ended the night with fun Yelp blind boxes and soft serve which was the mixed vanilla and hot chocolate - creamy and a great way to end the meal. Staff was super nice and attentive. Overall, the event was really organized but definitely felt a bit rushed at the end since it was only an hour and it took time to check in and order + get our food (an hour and a half would have been better paced)! read more

I had such a fantastic time at this party. I went solo and was seated at a table with several other single Yelpers. There were cute Yelp themed menus and paper ware. We were hosted with a large meal, more than most of the table could finish. It was super fun to try all the flavors of aqua fresca and to meet new friends.
