The olive oil on the chickpeas was rich and aromatic, blending beautifully with the fresh vegetables. The yogurt dish, creamy and tangy with just the right kick of garlic, reminded me of my dad's homemade Lebanese breakfasts. The fresh, warm bread tied everything together--it was like a little piece of home away from home. Ottawa Kabab is the kind of place where you can tell the food is made with love and care. It was tasty, but I preferred the meat one. Although my husband liked the cheese and sausage better, so I guess it depends on your tastes. At any rate, we both agreed that they were delicious. I ordered on UberEats for pickup. Staff were friendly and efficient. They even wrote "Thank you" with a smiley face on my takeout box, lol. The restaurant itself has some seating inside as well as a patio. The parking situation is the only downfall. There is free parking in front of the restaurant, but there are not too many spaces and it's very tight. Difficult to maneuver around. Then I saw a young family carry their plates to a table adjacent to me. And they all had these massive plates too. So after stuffing myself and hardly putting a dent in this pile of food I had to load up the take out clamshell. It would hardly close and weighed 2-3lbs (after filling myself). So if you want to buy one dish and eat a tasty healthy meal for a week. This is your place. I was really stoked to see Om Ali ($5) on the menu, but unfortunately they sold out at the time of my visit, so I got the Rice Pudding ($5) instead. I've had the Rice Pudding before at their food truck and it was just as good as I remembered it. I'm glad to see the price of the Rice Pudding didn't go up because the price of the Koshari went up $4. The regular Koshari was $8 at the food truck but is now $11.99. They didn't have the meat Koshari at the food truck, but they do now at the restaurant, so I got one of each type: Liver Koshari ($13.99) for myself and Chicken Koshari ($13.99) for my husband. Koshari is a carb lover's heaven. I has macaroni, spaghetti, fried vermicelli, rice, lentils, chickpeas and fried onions. I enjoyed my version with stir-fried liver and bell peppers on top. The liver was nicely cooked with some crispy pieces. I would get it again. I had one tiny piece of chicken from my husband's Koshari and it was good too, but I liked the liver better. My husband enjoyed the taste of his chicken Koshari, but his tummy did not feel well after eating it. I had no gastrointestinal issues after my meal, so not sure if there was an issue with the chicken. The wait was a bit long for the food (about 20 minutes). The owner was apologetic for the wait. Al-Oumara just opened a year ago (I believe) and since then, they've grown from a 2-3 person team to more than 7 people. Although Lebanese food was introduced years ago with the Shwarma food chains, Al-Oumara provides customers with a Schwarma take-out counter, but with more delicious options and platters. A mini grocery store, customers can buy freshly butchered meat, freshly made pre-packed or bulk salads and spreads, desserts, and I've even become acquainted to their beverages including Bonjus that comes in a triangular juice box and Kazouza a sparkling juice drink. I'll never forget the couple of times when they gave me a free dessert on the house or when they gave me pita bread from their bakery because they were sold out on their shelves. A family owned and run business that makes you feel like you're part of the family.
