Beautiful park, sits up on a hill in Seattle. Has a great walking path around the playground a nice soccer field/basket ball court and community center. Beautiful art lines the concrete walls around the area, great variety of equipment for the kids to play on. My kids really enjoy this park, great views in the distance on a clear day. Lots of picnic tables so pack a lunch and relax for a bit.

Awesome park in the middle of the city. No needles found! Mini soccer field is an added bonus.

The last time I did this my Apple Watch said I had climbed what is equivalent to 22 flights of stairs. The final stretch is steep and your legs will definitely know that you earned the view. The beautiful flowers and trees also make the walk worth it during the spring and summer months. There is a nice resting area at the top. I am also happy to now see snack vendors setting up here because a cold drink really helps before walking back down. As someone who lives in the area I would not drive up. Street parking is limited and always seems to be full. The hunt for parking might become its own workout. I am not sure if it is officially part of the park but there is also a playground for kids a few sets of steps downhill. Do not forget to walk over to Parsons Gardens to see the flowers during the summer. You should also stop at Marshall Park for views of Elliott Bay and the cruise ships on a clear day. The walk along the West Queen Anne retaining walls also offers beautiful scenic views. Kerry Park is a must visit in Seattle. It is also a great local walk to enjoy with your dog friends.

Extra points if you visit around sunset. It's small and parking is limited. Be prepared to park and walk - especially if you visit during peak times.

However, this park is so amazing I think I can rate it 5/5 stars without needing to visit the visitor center! Discovery Park is Seattle's largest park and has amazing views of the Cascade and the Olympic Mountain ranges. You can head down to the tidal beaches to look at sea critters if you time it during a very low tide, or visit any time to hike and admire the forest, cross the open meadows, and listen to the streams crisscrossing the park. There's even a lighthouse! During summer season, there's a free shuttle bus Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to help you get around the park, as it's so large some people might be put off by the distances needed to walk around the various points of interest.

My husband grew up in Magnolia, so he took me here for a hike last weekend, and I was completely blown away. We explored the south side and walked the Loop Trail. The path is well-maintained and offers stunning panoramic views of the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. It's hard to believe you're still within the city limits! It's the largest park in the city, so there is plenty of space to enjoy nature. Whether you want a serious hike or just a peaceful stroll to see the water, this is the place to go. Don't forget your camera--the scenery is post-card perfect!
