My belly is always happy after four Yesterdogs at Yesterdogs. Of course, you can have one, two, or a dozen (!). I'm not judging. I just know that few pleasures in life compare to a tasty wiener in a soft bun, piled on with house made chili sauce, pickles, onions, and mustard. The menu boasts five flavor combos, one of which is a veggie dog option. Try them all! It's pretty simple here. Order your dog(s). Add a drink or nah. Add chips or a cookie or nah. Pay cash. (It's cash ONLY, but there's an ATM on site.) Take your noms to go or have a seat in their vintage dining spaces. Swallow, go to bed, repeat tomorrow. Plus, keep your eyes on their socials for all sorts of fun and goodies as Yesterdogs celebrates its 50th anniversary!

I've been meaning to try Yesterdog for awhile now and was so happy to make a visit. The vibe is very eclectic and the location is pretty unique. The service is good but be prepared to pay cash. Obviously the star of the show are the hot dogs and we were able to give them all a try. I thought the way they build them on a pizza peal was really cool and unique! If you want a good dog in a unique environment, give them a try!

Yesterdog hot dogs are the best in Grand Rapids. I always get the Ultra dog and I love this place. It's cash only so bring cash! lol Service is fast & Dogs are yummy .

If you know, you know. Yesterdog is a Grand Rapids staple, and you either love it or you hate it. I love it. It's known as being a late-night stop if you've had a few drinks, but I also like it sober. This isn't Chicago or Detroit, so don't compare them. Yesterdog is its own thing! The buns are steamed, soft, and squishy, and the hot dogs are not snappy. The chili is gloppy and salty, and it's honestly some of my favorite comfort food. It's super messy so be ready for a lot of napkins. New owners recently took over the spot but so far have kept everything the same, including only taking cash. Try your hand at the tip target and grab a seat at a lumpy booth. Enjoy the many photos and messages left by previous patrons. The menu is simple - hot dogs (my favorite is the cheddar dog), chips, and beverages. There is a system of ordering so read it on their website. And don't forget cash. (They do have an ATM on site now.) Metered street parking and paid parking lots are all over in this area.

It's been years since I've been and it was the perfect nostalgic feeling being in there getting the best hot dog! Service was great, and the booths felt just as they were from when I remember them back in high school.

I haven't been in Grand Rapids for over 20 years, but I can still remember how badly I loved going to Yesterdog's with my dad as a little kid!! The business is cash-only and the prices are cheap! $3.50 for a piece of history and delicious hot dogs. The employees are friendly, happy to help, and the whole vibe of the place really feels like some well-loved local spot. I got the Ultradog with chili-cheese, ketchup, mustard, onion, and pickles. Everything came together perfectly and about 2 months later from this trip, I am still raving about these dogs! The chili was amazing and definitely a recipe I would love to steal. I also got the in-house made pickles, which hit the spot. Not too vinegary and complimented the ultradog perfectly. For those that like to eat at food places with a historical aspect (like me), I would love to add that Yesterdog has been apart of the Grand Rapids community since 1976 and was founded by a local who wanted a good food spot on his favorite bar row. Between Pinks in LA and Yesterdog in GR....I would honestly have to say that Grand Rapids does it better...‍...sorry guys!

Been coming here for years as a Grand Rapids native and finally leaving a review. The place is always nostalgic never changes, with the writing on the wall and cool ambiance. The staff greet you when you come in and get your order and food comes out sub 5 minutes later. The food is very cheap for what you get, the bread always tastes amazing paired with the dog. Will always stop by when in town

Great hotdogs are hard to come by these days--but thankfully, there's Yesterdog. The hotdogs are top-tier, the vibe is spot on, the prices are fair, and they're open late. What more could you want? And if you're into pickles on your dog, their homemade relish is next-level. Total game changer.

Came in with my husband while in Grand Rapids and it was PACKED. Before ordering we went to the restroom, which there is a single person bathroom which is gender neutral and yes, there is just one so a line was already in existence when we got there and continued to trail behind up. It was clean, but very "dive bar" like with graffiti on the walls and words carved into any wood. I did like they had the antique style metal pull to flush the toilet, I had never used one like that before. I ordered the ultra dog (chili, cheese, onion, pickle, ketchup, mustard) and my husband got the chili cheese dog. It is cash only, but I do believe there is an atm inside. We ended up taking them to go but the inside was very nice and both of us said we wanted to come back and sit down for a meal eventually. Both of our hot dogs were good, but I will admit the chili was a little more runny than where I typically get my chili dogs. I can eat the chili dogs I normally get without making my shirt look like I got none in my mouth, even while in the car. No such luck with these, but I'll admit that I may expected too much for every chili dog ever to be car ride friendly. We will definitely be back.

    Look of depression.

This is just sad. I love hotdogs. I've always loved hotdogs. People think I'm an idiot for always choosing hotdogs. In this case, I was an idiot to come here. I have no idea why this is so popular. The dogs were undercooked, underflavoured, and sloppy. Not the "Ooo, how fun sloppy." The buns were poor quality, fell apart immediately. You know the kind of 89 cent bun that comes apart in patches. The dog was like school food quality. Zero bite, thin, like pasty, boiled uncharred. Sad experience. Even the condiments were lacking. How they make a sauerkraut and chili that's not packed in flavour should be studied. We circled around twice, the first time there was a massive line. Around 2 hours later, it was empty. The order was quick, too quick -- but frankly since everything was underflavoured and undercooked it makes sense lol. I can't rate this place 1 star, because service was good and the atmosphere is endearing. It could use a good clear....I get the old school style of things, but also it did feel a little gross eating these dogs and looking at a layered of dust on everything. There's old school, and there's old school but clean.... But god lord GR, come to NYC. We'll show you a good hotdog. Honestly, you could get a higher quality hotdog from a cart here.

For what it is, it's not bad. The wiener has much to improve on. The chili was great as a topping however.

So went in today and it's cash only. Everything in GR is going cashless. Walked out never to return.

Table's biggest hit was the…read moreKing Louie Fries which were their seasoned crinkle cut fries with melted cheese, shaved beef, and giardiniera peppers. I think the Chicago dog and the Italian Beef with the au jus on the side were solid, but nothing to write back home to Chicago about. Better than Portillo's, kind of reminded me of Mr. Beef almost. Getting the sandwich wet is usually the rite of passage, but I went for the au jus on the side. Don't make the mistake I did. Everything just falls out of it when you tilt the sandwich to dip it. Also, if you think you can eat hot giardiniera peppers, just think for a quick sec longer because these ones were pretty hot for someone who has a decent heat tolerance.

It was portioned correctly. It just was very bland compared to what else you can get in Grand Rapids. The chili cheese fries also were not horrible but I wanna say they were great. It is just gas station cheese and chili from a can. Again, not horrible just nothing special. Overall, I probably wouldn't recommend this place but I also want to steer someone away either especially if you are drunk and at the bar across the street. I'm sure it tastes much better. That being said, I think it's a perfect restaurant for its location. There is not a ton of competition directly next-door or across the street. And technically, the Bar across the street has food of a similar quality however it is a nice alternative It's up to you. There's much better places in town for hotdog however, I would give the spot another shot to try the Italian beef. I have heard it is not excellent, but I have not had it Personally.
