We resolved ourselves to yet another decent cup of coffee; I ordered a latte, my partner, the more brazen, a double espresso. At first glance the coffees weren't as we'd, sadly, become accustomed to; the latte was creamy, hot milk enshrined with a strong taste of sweet, bitterness; the double espresso was topped with a thick, luscious crema, underneath was sweet bitterness. I wouldn't classify this as a hidden gem, however: it's in the heart of town, right next to the outdoor ice rink, in the same complex as one of the public parking structures. And it isn't the most relaxed space, since it's small and tends to get crowded both with take-out and for-here orders. My kind of coffee spot. This is a perfect place to take a book or laptop to study/work and relax. Plenty of space, lots of comfy seating. Cozy (brick/timber) atmosphere. Has a few TV's which they graciously changed to a football game for me on Sunday. Staff are really chill and nice. The latte's and chai's are awesome. My GF and I look for places like this everywhere we go and it became our spot to go for a few hours each day and relax. Their secret here is the breakfast burritos. The menu is extremely limited but ont be fooled. I was expecting a pre-made tin foil burrito but I was delightfully surprised (they are loaded with goodness and are made in their panini press). This is TRULY the ONLY place in the Vail Valley/Avon/Edwards area that knows how to make a good cappuccino. My husband and I tried five different places before this one, and all of them failed in terms of frothing the milk and using the proper ratios. This one is fantastic. I hope they expand and that we eventually get one in Edwards, but for now it is worth the trek to Vail village. Bonus that they also have agave nectar for sweetening. Pro tip: maybe wait to talk s*** about your customers until AFTER they leave the store... or are at least out of earshot. Been to this location three times now and each time all of the staff acted like they had better things to do than take our order and we were an inconvenience for being there... and they weren't even busy. And I've heard them saying rude things about their customers multiple times after they walk away while sitting inside, which is totally inappropriate. I refrained from saying anything about the first time, because I know all too well being in the service industry that we all have our days and occasionally let our annoyances with other things get the better of us and show through in our service... but obviously this isn't a one-time occurrence anymore. Another thing I understand from working in the service industry is that it's really not THAT hard to, at the very least, not make your customers feel like they should leave because they're inconveniencing you. The coffee here is at least semi-decent and I do know a few friendly people who work or have worked at Yeti's, but from my experiences here I'd have to say they must work at the Eagle location because the friendliness at the Vail location is lacking. This is your quintessential local coffee shop. They have a creative offering of coffee drinks and the barista does some cute latte art! I ordered a regular latte and the gluten free spinach pocket which was delicious! I took home a slice of the gluten free and dairy free pumpkin bread and was wildly impressed.
