These candles are amazing! When I first started my job, my boss gave everyone in the office a…read morecandle at Christmas. I have bought a few more since then when I've seen them set up at the LoDa Art Walks. I was pretty excited when I recently learned that these candles can be purchased online. These soy candles smell so wonderful! They're come in a variety of scents and they are very fragrant. One candle burning will easily smell up my den, kitchen, dining room, foyer, bar, butler's pantry and hallway (that's 7 spaces to 1 candle). They sell for about $10-$15 each and come in pretty little jars with a twine bow and tag. I know it's pretty impressive that one candle can smell up seven rooms, but the best thing about these candles is actually the cause behind them. Lights of LOV is a candle making business created by Light of the Village. The purpose of Lights of LOV is to help those who are underprivileged or face other obstacles such as a criminal history, to learn job skills, work ethic, and appropriate behavior and dress for employment. If you aren't familiar with Light of the Village, it also offers summer camps and after school programs for children, life skill programs for adults such as GED classes, addiction recovery, driver education. It's a truly wonderful organization that relies on community support. What's a better way to make your home smell wonderful and help others than buying a Lights of LOV candle?

The tiles, the massive windows, the tub upstairs-- you'll know it when you see it, and the pillars (of course)-- this place oozes southern charm and there's no denying it. On top of all that, the couple that owns it are the nicest people you'll ever meet and they know how to throw a beautiful event. Since my first visit, I've returned for an event and a local maker's market. Both events were well organized and well executed. Even better, the love that's shown here for local entrepreneurs and small businesses is incredible. Needless to say, I'm a fan of The Pillars and hubs better thank his lucky stars we're already married. I'd book an impromptu do-over here in a heartbeat. Don't tempt me!

It was bought about four years ago by Dave & Heather and reopened as an event venue. Heather brings decades of event experience to the table and Dave delivers loads of good old fashioned "know how". They are an awesome couple whose smiles light up the house! The home has original tile floors, high ceilings and a beautiful staircase. The large Southern style porch is anchored by gorgeous pillars, hence the name! Be sure to check out the stained glass located throughout the place, both up and downstairs. The big claw foot tubs tempt me to lease out the place for the evening just to enjoy a relaxing soak. (I don't think you can lease it for a bath, but a girl can dream can't she?) Upstairs is a gentlemen's lounge for the groomsmen to hang out in and there is a separate area for the bridal party. The brides room has a huge full length mirror, closets and private bath area. It also features plenty of comfy seating. What a lovely place to get married or host a party. The kitchen is modern and updated, ready for caterers. There are so many interesting rooms to stage various things from live entertainment to food. This one is a true Southern Belle filled with charm and ready to host your major life events. I am looking forward to attending my first Market Day. They are held once a month, on a Sunday and have at least 50 vendors including organic produce, dog treats and crafts.
