This was one of our stops on our little free adventure day…read more Gallery 9 was a gorgeous gallery space, very well situated in downtown Los Altos and had a front end artist resident along with several back area un-sold pieces from past shows by other artists. I loved several (already sold sadly) pieces from the resident artist Naomi Mindelzun and of the pieces in the back area really gravitated to the two men fishing - the artist adored the water and it absolutely came through. The reason for the four over the five for me is that many of the back section pieces felt amateurish. Many of the artists seemed newer and less honed in their skill, and it showed in what Gallery 9 portrayed. When we left the honey even commented that he was shocked by the watercolors presented, as he is currently taking a watercolor class and felt several students had produced higher quality work from that class. All in all the service was polite, if not completely hands off (what I personally look for in a gallery) and I would definitely stop by again.

All proceeds support Montalvo Arts Center with the aid of a battalion of volunteers, young and old. From the first hello by Gail when greeted at check-in to exiting venue, high touch experience. Thoughtfully coordinated and seamlessly orchestrated, including redirecting exiting auto traffic due to nearby auto accident. Meal was delightful including iced tea and coffee. Can upgrade to wine and bubbly for a fee. There were roaming models (Sunny - a Tita from the Philippines - was in our area) showcasing outfits from a local Los Gatos boutique. Raffle for a 10 person dinner onsite. Gift shop with crafts to buy. Have more time can explore grounds. Was encouraged to take home the floral centerpieces which had plastic floral bags to aid with transport. If don't have a generous friend to treat you to luncheon, can purchase tix for $75. I was excited to learn they host Sunday high teas in November before Thanksgiving. Will add to my Yelp! High Tea collection.

The Great Lawn in front of the main building ie the Montalvo Center allows picnics without reservations - just set up camp under a tree. There's a very well maintained Italian garden right next to the great lawn with varieties of succulents, a pagoda like structure and cedars. Also saw a wedding in progress while we were there and it is such a beautiful location for it! I will definitely visit again to explore the trails. Parking can be a little hard on weekends but you gotta just wait till a spot opens. If the event venue is booked out - that makes parking harder since they reserve a lot for guests. The special engagement on Saturday afternoon was a reception with the artists which had refreshments in the lobby and live music in the art gallery along with all of the wonderful displays captivating attendees. The artists for this exhibition followed a theme, creatively connecting technology to aspects of humanity, and the setup inside the space was effective and appealing. I was particularly impressed by the works of Steve Dellicarpini, one of which explored the impact of AI, utilizing ChatGPT and a grid of fans and lights. Another one of his pieces, The Book of Donald (Fifth Gospel of the Apocrypha), appeared as scripture sitting atop a golden toilet, the sculpture representing the twisted messages of social media posts. I was also amused by Shannon Wright's Partner in Crime: Commemorating a Decade of Swiping Left in Silicon Valley, showcasing a C-print image filled with words associated with online dating, set up like scrabble tiles. There were so many unique exhibits to view, I'm glad I didn't miss the current show. FYI, the parking lot right out front had a sign saying parking is enforced every day including weekends, but the permit machine next to the museum was out of order or nonfunctioning. So this ended up being a free trip altogether.

I knew in advance that on Thursdays (2nd & 4th weeks only), the public street parking in front of the building was off limits for street sweeping/no parking between 7am-11am, so I got very lucky pulling up in front at 11am sharp. Nice. Easy walk. The Foster Museum was very simple, decent, positive, and relaxing environment filled with gorgeous nature views/sketches/watercolor artworks by the U.K. artist, Tony Foster. Good feeling here. Free admissions and good customer service staffs. You can just walk in or register online. There's a tiny gift area not far from the public restrooms. I signed the guestbook at the end of my walk. Good place to hang around/includes unlimited paper, paper/pencils/samples/etc. If you like to sketch and get some creative inspirations, all the nature artworks in the gallery is definitely a good place to start. Not huge, but perfectly quite and calm for art lovers. You can request for an orientation and/or tour as desired. Great first impression during first visit. It's the positive feeling I get from observing the energy and various colorful artworks. Simple and stress-free. Good value/free admissions is totally worth the 1-2 hours here. They also host art classes too, but I will need to take time to browse around online. Good vibes. Staffs are friendly inside. Hidden place. Love it.
