I really enjoy this YMCA because it has a lot of space and offerings. It's a little hard to navigate at first, though. I parked in the main lot and entered on the top level, so I had to go downstairs to find the member check-in spot. Once I found the check-in spot, I did a little wandering before giving up and asking a staff member for help finding the cardio machines. Every staff member I've encountered has been very friendly, and they keep the space clean. The weights and majority of the cardio machines are in a walled-off section of the gymnasium, behind a walled-off fitness studio. There's a lot of space, even during busy hours. Upstairs you'll find the indoor track, some additional cardio machines (my favorite spot!), and an open area for stretching. There's a good variety of group classes here. I usually go to a different Y since it's closer to my home but one of my kids had an indoor soccer game here so it was fun to checkout a different location. It has a ton of parking but it was quite busy. It was a Thursday around 6:30pm when we went. I'm don't think all those folks were there for the Y but being a community center I'm sure there are plenty of unrelated Y events going on. I even saw an advertisement showing you could have a wedding reception there. There is a large pool area. A shallow pool area with a boat structure for kids and a big slide next to it. There are also plenty of swim lanes. I'll be bringing the family here to enjoy some swimming in the winter for sure. The gym is huge. It was divided into to part gym and another area to workout. Upstairs is a walk/run track around the gym and the workout equipment. I also saw they offer classes that my local why doesn't offer so I may check those out too sometime. The locker rooms were very clean but super chilly. The Y itself was good except for the staff at the reception desk. There were 3-4 staff there to help two guest and all were stand-off ish and unwelcoming - no one greeted us, hardly looked us in the eye, and it took a minute for them to stop what they were doing to help. read more

I personally love the Y in maple wood. I don't have much to critique about it because it gets the job done. I love the feeling of the gym as it and the staff know who they are and don't try to insist on anything different. Very down to earth staff! Great facilities as well! Tons of weights and machines. My wife and I love the upstairs portion next to the track as we use a lot of room and the equipment up there. Locker rooms are also well maintained and super easy to access. The only reason that it doesn't get a 5/5 is because sometimes it's hard to tell when people have certain areas rented/reserved. They do have an app that you can use, but I haven't managed it well. I come here with my kiddos every few months and they love the pool. We came here during a blizzard (04/10/2018) for my son's birthday and got the family discount. The kids didnt want to leave but due to the weather, they had no choice but to closer early. They also have open gym and an exercise room. I've enrolled my child to their basketball practice in the past and he loves it as well. I believe they also have tumbling classes for little girls as well so definitely worth it for its prices. DOWNGRADE for the Maplewood Community Center. This is regarding the gym and the on-site food options, so if you are looking for comments about other amenities, see below for my original review. The facility overall is still a great community center. BUT, a couple weeks ago I came in to see many empty spots in the weight center. Turns out the fitness director decided to take out 14 pieces of equipment and replace them with 2 pieces of equipment. In a somewhat defensive note she has attached to the comments box, she explains that many of the pieces of equipment were from the 1980s and that "all" of them are duplicates of other machines. 80s or not, there was nothing terribly wrong with most/all of the equipment. In fact, I think some of the removed (Cybex) machines were in better shape than many of the newer (Nautilus) machines that have such major tension issues that you can't really use the built-in add-on weights. Second, while some of the removed machines were indeed duplicates, not all of them were. Yes, a tricep extension and a tricep dip machine are both for triceps, but they are not redundant or duplicates. As for the few machines that were actually duplicates, now there are overall fewer machines and undoubtedly there will be longer waits for the equipment. As I mentioned in my original review, I chose MCC over SNAP and Anytime Fitness precisely because there were more weight machines. I am seriously considering changing my membership, as SNAP is easier for me to get to and now has about the same number of weight machines. AND, several months ago Subway was removed from the MCC. I don't know if the decision was up to Subway or the MCC. Eventually the spot was turned into a "snack bar." Say what you will about Subway, but at least you can get some protein and vegetables. The new snack bar is all carbs and sugar, concessions style crap. There's not much available you couldn't get out of a vending machine. So now I'm SOL if I need a quick (and vaguely nutritious) meal before or after a workout. If the MCC really cared about the health and wellness of its community members, they would serve something other than nachos, pretzels, donuts, and candy bars. SO, yes the MCC is still a nice facility with lots of options for hosting or attending events and shows. But the health and fitness side of it has suffered some major blows, that for me cannot be ignored. read more

Great place for the whole family to enjoy. Kiddie pool with slide plus another slide for the bigger kids and a lap pool. The life guards does a great job of making sure kids are not running or making sure they follow simple rules to keep everyone safe from drowning/hurting themselves or others. If your kids wants to go into the deeper water, for example like the 4 feet or the lap pool they must be tested by the life guard then given a wraist band. Its mini float and swim test. If you go there often like we do once a month then ask life guard for a form to fill out to show kids have passed the test therefore it on record. Also, kids under 5 yrs, must be supervised by an adult at all times. I almost forgot, you must shower before enter the pool. By doing my this, it helps to keep the pool clean. As for the locker rooms, they have three: family, men and women which are always kept clean. Outside of the pool where you check in and pay, there's a snack shop. You can purchase chips, pop corn, hot dog, chips with naco cheese, and other snacks. I know there's a gym, day child care and other ammunites but I haven't checked it out yet therefore I can't comment. My family and I rated this place five stars because the pool is always clean and the staff is friendly. read more

No YMCA towel service here, but they do have a snack bar. Shifting from Maplewood Community Center to the Maplewood YMCA for awhile now. It's lovely to look out the treadmill area over the wooded area adjoining the building. Indoor track, racquet ball courts, exercise equipment, decent class offerings are some of their amenities. read more

I really liked how this place looks. It's clean. And they have attentive life guards on pool duty. I only visited the pool area. The girls at the desk where crabby but it was a Saturday and I'd be the same so I'm honestly not to bothered by that. They weren't rude, you just could tell they where crabby. The locker rooms where clean. Bathrooms where clean. I think the price is great for a quick drop in. Definitely going back. Fun atmosphere. read more

The Maplewood Community Center provides a variety of activities for people of all ages. It has a lap pool and waterside for people who are interested in swimming. There are gyms and studios where people can workout, take fitness classes, play basketball, volleyball, racquetball, and do other sports. The community center provides fun classes for youth and seniors. There is also an auditorium in the community center where people can watch plays and musicians. It's a really nice place to come for the family as well as individuals. They have some fun programs for kids to participate in for summer fun. They recently redid the whole swimming pool area and it looks great. They have movies, shows, and other activities for families. Staff always seems pretty helpful and friendly and not sure if I have ever had a bad experience here. Plenty of parking as well. read more

Booked a banquet room for a baby shower on 3/30. Very friendly, nice & helpful staff that brought in an extra table when we asked. We booked for 3 hours & were allowed to go in 15 min early to decorate. Cleaned up our space and left. Definitely recommend to anyone as the rates were quite reasonable. Thanks again! read more

My fiancée & I are Ymca members and I recently just joined the Y& he has been a member since he was 5 years old. We always come to this specific location, check in, etc. Today we came & forgot to check in, as we were on the top floor where no one is present to greet us, a staff member came upstairs and called us trespassers & said to go check in. She was very rude & gave a lot of attitude. We quietly go down to check in & she continues to treat us like criminals by telling the other staff member to note our account saying we never check in. It was an honest mistake as we were focused on working out & again upstairs there is no check in desk so it is very inconvenient for guests. I also want to say how very disturbing it was to be treated in such a way by a place like the YMCA. I value great customer service but unfortunately did not receive an ounce of it today at this location. Me and my fiance will have to go out of our way to find a different location to work out at & honestly this is my first month at the Y & I probably will be canceling my membership! read more
