No reviews??!! The original Y in Muncie. Has a pool, basketball courts and a nice locker room area. Gym and free weight section is not big. If there's more than 3 people on the weights you'll be crowded. read more

It's the old Y. They have a nice pool, and if you want to swim in Muncie in the winter time, this is the go-to spot. The other facilities are a bit time warn and could use some updating. Probably best to go to the Northwest Y for lifting. read more

Before you read this just understand I'm only a concerned member and I don't mean anything rude, there's no body shaming here, or bullying.. I've been coming to this YMCA for a few months. Since I've been here there hasn't been much to complain about, there's a sauna and a pool and nice locker rooms for all ages and genders. This past week my fiancé and I got back into the gym after a Christmas break. Since about Tuesday we've been bringing our 10 year old niece to practice basketball, and today we let her swim for a little before we left. While she swam there were 2 lifeguards on duty, a young man and woman. I have no idea what the rules are, but from what I've always seen at the ymca, I've never known them to let their employees wear provocative clothing or inappropriately where the clothing ... the young woman who was life gaurding had a wedging sooooo far up her butt, she may as well have been wearing a thong. It made me and my fiancé very uncomfortable (even after getting home after this situation, we told our nieces mother and she was quiet upset with the management of this establishment as well) because I didn't know this woman nor did I know if she was aware of the wedgie, I went to the front desk and told the young man at the front desk about it. I even let him know I didn't want to just walk up to her as a stranger, so I came to relate this to them so someone she knows can tell her... he kindly thanked me and I walked back into the pool area. After a few minutes he pulled another young woman employee aside and told her what happened. She came in and I was anticipating the lifeguard to possibly giggle and pull the harmless wedgie out... but instead the message was whispered into the lifeguards ear... she cracked up and they all stared at me and my fiancé.. she "ACTED" like she pulled it out and obnoxiously and with great attitude said "I'm soooo sorry" i was kindve stunned and thoroughly rubbed the wrong way.. especially after the woman who told her about the wedgie left and the 2 life guard CONTINUED TO STARE AT US! I wanted to say something to a woman who I thought was the manager but I was so put down by the results of what I just encountered that i honestly don't think it would've made a difference.... I just hope they realize it's a place for families and children. Its not an inappropriate bathing suites showing ENTIRE butts place.. if this same woman was watching the same children in a childcare room and had a mini skirt on so short you saw the bottom half of her butt cheeks, I garuntee she'd be fired or at least suspended?! I'm appalled by the way the YMCA handled this and I definitely will be saying something again if the same problem arises. I'm sorry to have put such a bad review, but the YMCA needs to take into consideration that we TEACH our children the dangers of showing off our bodies and what kindve attention it attracts... Im just saying.. how many of their members are going to be uncomfortable from wreckless lazy provocative and very arrogant employees. I definitely WILL NOT come back if this happens again. read more
