The person who did the work also walked me through design and material options. I originally wanted a Doric-style column, but they recommended a rectangular column using a durable PVC-type material (used for piping) and even reduced the price. I was hesitant, but it turned out to be the right call. They completed the job in one day and the house looks noticeably upgraded. Afterward, I noticed some movement in the railing slats. They explained it's normal since the railing is custom fabricated on site (not one solid piece), and similar to others in the neighborhood. Still, they came back out and glued them at no charge, and now everything feels solid. The finished look is beautiful--neighbors have already asked for referrals. Professional, responsive, and stood behind their work. Would recommend.

We had Jose's team come in for biweekly maintenance of our plants…read more We have these vines in the back. I ask his guys to slowly take them down. I don't mind taking it slow. I then ask Jose if he would do an off-cycle cleaning where they take down all of the vines all at once. He quotes me $700 or something stupid like that. I decline. His guys come back. I ask them to keep going with a methodical removal. They say no, because Jose told them to stop. I call Jose and ask if they can continue with the slow but steady removal. He says no. It's unbelievable that I'm paying them to maintain my garden, but by saying no their up charge, he now REFUSES TO MAINTAIN A PLANT THAT'S PART OF THE GARDEN!? Unbelievably unprofessional. Jose happen to pull up in Front of my house walked forward not saying good morning or anything when he saw me he immediately looked perplexed like he was no longer a gardener?!???! I ask if he was with a company (I was expecting a different service this day as well) and he said no he's here for gardening with a confused type expression on his face. Jose asked me how long has it been since my yard was cut and I told him 2 months because my guy retired and he told me "No...it's been a year!". ???excuse me??? I'm thinking is this guy serious. I don't know why it mattered or even why I explained to him the timeline my guy last cut it. I mean...hello...that's why I called him. I don't need to lie or why he would accuse me. So after I explained like an accused girlfriend with the psycho bf Jose said "no ...I'm experienced it's been a year". No he didn't....Yes he did. I said ok whatever Jose what's the estimate? Cause the guy didn't talk any business he just immediately went into this thing about how long it's been since the grass was cut to make an excuse for whatever his true issue was but then Jose says "let's cut to the chase I can't cut it because the grass is too high for his tools and they may break.?????? What was once a tired and dated 2-bedroom house is now an adorably modern and expansive 1-bedroom, complete with spa-like bathroom and vaulted ceilings. Throughout the process, Max was responsive and transparent, and was regularly onsite to supervise his subs. He was happy to provide input but also happy to let me make my own choices and decisions. Unbelievably, the project came in on time and on budget.

Our electric cooktop and hood broke many months ago, and we thought that replacing it with a gas…read morecooktop and new hood would be straightforward. It turns out that was not true. One plumber could install a gas line only, another plumber could install a gas line and the gas cooktop but not the hood, and an appliance installation technician could not install the cooktop because he could not cut into the existing granite top. So I found Max of MRI Construction and Remodeling on Yelp, and he said that he could do the work within that original scope -- cooktop, hood, and gas line -- but that we should anticipate a backup plan in case the granite cracked during installation. Because we plan to live in this house for as long as possible, we decided to go through a full kitchen renovation. We had a prior experience with another general contractor who was impossible to get a hold of and who could not ensure the quality of the subcontractors he hired, and interviewed another general contractor who gave us the impression that we would have to engage with suppliers and subcontractors more than seemed feasible. We are happy to say that we just finished our kitchen renovation last week! And it was finished a week earlier than scheduled. We are thankful to Max and his team of subcontractors! We are really happy with the final kitchen, given how much we cook at home. And surprisingly the process was easy despite its size and time of 6 weeks. Max has the strengths and qualities you want for your construction projects: he's incredibly responsive, honest and communicative, and willing and able to troubleshoot issues that come up, as they invariably do, both small and large. He makes recommendations if you ask and gives you options for decisions for which there are too many options. He works with an amazing group of subcontractors who are experts in their craft. There was an exception with one subcontractor but Max was able to get that course-corrected so that the project finished strong. We appreciate his integrity and his willingness to ensure that the project meets your needs and expectations. We are grateful that we found Max on Yelp and for being able to work with him on a kitchen that we love and also within budget!! Thank you, Max and MRI Construction!!
