I had a broken cord and posted to Nextdoor to seek help from my neighbors and Ivan commented that he could fix it and left his number. I called Ivan and within 30 minutes of that call, I had a fixed cord for a reasonable price. I got to use the existing cord which meant no waste - truly amazing. Parts are not as interchangeable as you would like, whether they be power cords or sync-cables, etc. [WTF? Even WITHIN a branding I can't use my iPhone 4s sync-cable with my new iPhone 6s? *jesus wept*] What this usually translates to for a customer who doesn't consider other options is going back to the manufacturer to buy replacement/substitute items - AND AT HIGH RETAIL COST. THE SETUP What I love about outfits like Computer Recycle Center and Repair is that they have economical solutions to these sorts of problems, either by having used-items in their inventory or by tapping into the alternative market for similar items. PROBLEM SOLVED Instead of having to buy a NEW Dell power cord for my Dell Inspiron at a cost of $75 (and a 2-3 week delivery time), I found a replacement power cord with the necessary specs from an alternative manufacturer for $17 ON-SITE. I call THAT a total win! OTHER DILEMMAS These folks are also great with good "sounding-board" advice - for example, what are some of the best malware anti-virus programs for your system/hardware configuration, what's a good system clean-up maintenance program, do you need to expand your cache memory, can your system support gaming graphics (mine doesn't, so I need a new computer eventually) etc. etc. THE LOWDOWN If you are looking for a less-costly - and possibly time-saving (and non-frustrating) solution to your tech problem, come check these folks out. When I entered the facility I was greeted by Vincent. Vincent was polite and very helpful. He weighed the items and gave me a receipt. The customer service is top notch and the value of bringing it in is priceless. They do offer pickup but it is cheaper to bring it in. This was the closest business to my house that takes scrap metal. Though they seem set up mostly for contractors and other businesses, they didn't treat me any different from their other customers. I was in and out fairly quickly. Just an FYI - there is a 3 day hold on payment if you don't have a contractor's or business license.

We chose Nance Property Services because his company would make every effort to donate the piano before they decided to recycle it. After getting a reasonable estimate, we booked an appointment for the next day. Phillip arrived on time, was respectful, and was a joy to talk to. Our piano was dated but still in good condition. He mentioned that people are looking for pianos like ours and that he knew of a family in Davis that could use it. Awesome news! In further chatting with Phillip, I found out that his company was the only one in the Sacramento area that did this. If you want a piano removed and donated to someone who could use it, I highly recommend Nance Property Services.
