I have gone to Yoder's quite a few times. I like to purchase the peanut butter to take home but you have to keep it refrigerated so make sure you have a way to keep it cold if you are traveling. Also, the hidden gem here are the donuts that they sell at the gift shop. If you don't get there early they run out. read more

They were busy mid afternoon. We had a very short wait. The staff were all very pleasant. The fried chicken is some of the best I've ever had. The salad bar is very nice, tried the poppyseed dressing, it was delicious. The hot fudge brownie pudding and soft serve vanilla made for a terrific first time experience for me and my family. We've been here several times over the last few years. There is always a wait for a table, no matter what time we go. The line moves fairly fast. Service is usually quick, although at our last visit, we were ignored for about 10 minutes and they weren't real busy. A lady did hustle over when we just got up to go to the buffet. The fried chicken is very good but choice pieces go quickly. Most everything else needs salt. They have a lot of senior patrons so I guess it's easier to add salt at the table than to get it out! DH loves the noodles. The salad bar is good with a nice variety. Desserts are mediocre -- get the ice cream. read more

I went for the buffet, figuring an Amish place would have a good spread. Well, it was alright, but not what I was expecting. The fried chicken was crispy, which is always a plus, and the flavors were decent enough. Though, I have to say, that chicken and noodles needed a good dose of salt. It was just a little bland. Excellent buffet provided by Amish cooks and waitresses. The food is good, and the buffet is constantly replenished with fresh offerings. The waitresses are polite, friendly, and attentive to your dining needs. The bakery goods are great as is the attached gift shop. I've been there 3 times in 5 weeks and can't wait for the 4th time. We drive all the way from Kankakee just to go to Yoder's buffet. We have never been disappointed. First thing I do is go for the yummy fried chicken. Always repeat trips to the buffet just for the chicken. The rest of the food is also very good. After eating, we go into the gift shop to browse and then buy some homemade bread to take home with us. Usually make at least 2-3 trips a year. When granddaughter visits from Las Vegas area ,this is always one of the destinations for us!! read more

The seating was quick. The salad bar was good with a good variety to choose from. The entree bar was always full of people and food was quickly refilled. The chicken was flavorful,mashed potatoes and vegetables were excellent.. They do move a lot of people in and out. The worst part of having a good meal was the standing in line to pay. Touristy restaurant with favorite comfort foods. Guests enter into a lobby with a gift store similar to Cracker Barrel to the left selling homemade pies, jams and apple butters and various home decor. The restaurant consists of a few rooms with country style decor. The fireplace providing heat on a cool fall day felt nice. There is a menu available but most people choose the buffet. Salads, vegetables, fried chicken and ham are featured. There is also a dessert bar on the side. While the others in my party went that route I chose the three item combo. It consisted of a bowl of chili, half sandwich and a slice of pie. The chili was good with a slight touch of heat from the spice but not something that requires water to cool. Sandwich choices are chicken salad, Blt or toasted cheese. The varieties of pie include the standards, a daily special and a seasonal special. All were good. Great atmosphere and friendly service is what makes this place. The food is not the best but the experience made the day. read more

My husband and I ate here yesterday after visiting the Great Pumpkin Patch. We have eaten at quite a few Amish restaurants and this one by far was the worse one we have ever eaten at. Met family at location for 1st visit. Arrived at 11.20 to a packed business. Family had already grabbed a seat. We seated ourselves and was approached by a very nice lady who welcomed us and advised of available drinks. She offered us a menu or buffet. All four of us elected to get the buffet. The location was roomy, clean with comfortable seating. The restrooms were roomy, clean and ADA accessible. The buffet was well stocked. They had wide variety of comfort food with all the fixings. We enjoyed the Fried chicken / Ham / real mashed potato's and gravy / dressing and vegetables. For desert we all ordered pie. Highly suggest coconut cream pie. I am allergic to gluten so my options here are very limited. If you don't have food allergies, this restaurant features a grand buffet with fried chicken, ham, chicken and noodles, salad bar with many homemade salads and some delicious looking desserts. I ordered a grilled chicken breast with BBQ sauce with mashed potatoes. Both were good and the service is very attentive. They bring fresh bread and there is delicious apple butter on the table which my family enjoyed immensly. But it does not lack the warmth and hospitality that keeps this successful and thriving business going year and year. There is a fresh and beautiful hot and cold buffet full of Amish specialties and soup and salad as well as dessert options. Or order off the menu; it's all good. The service is fast and professional and we instantly developed a repertoire with our server which kept us coming back all week. OMG!! I didn't think anyone could top the doughnuts I had at the top of Pikes Peak in CO. (The altitude does something magical to them). That has all changed. The Amish have destroyed all other doughnuts for me. Anytime I am in this area or even somewhat close I will go back. It's not just the doughnuts either. All the food I ate there was on a different level. You can tell it doesn't have the government regulations all over it. It's all natural. came around 145 on a friday afternoon. place still very busy but since it is a big place we were seated i mediately and our waitress arrived very shortly thereafter asking about drinks and if we had any questions. yoder's is famous for their buffet so i looked it over. the selection was huge and all looked great. apparently almost everyone gets the buffet which is all you can eat for $15.95. both my wife and i decided to orderfrom the menu which had a very nice selection. my wife got the walleye special and i got the fried chicken. they both came out in short order and were both excellent. i also got the cheeseburger soup and it was great as well. they had a nice selction of sides as well. too much food, good food, very reasonable prices, great service. unfortunately we don.t live close so it may be a long time before we come back read more

We drove 2 hours to get to Arthur Illinois. To visit shops and go to the famous YODERS BUFFET. First I want to say ARTHUR ILLINOIS is the cleanest , well groomed area I have ever been around. That put me in the right frame of mind. We passed a lot of Amish homes before we ever got there.when we showed up it's just like what you think it would look like modest size , beautiful landscaping,well maintained parking lot with ample amenities for handicapped parking and the parking lot is well designed for easy access and if it's raining their is roof covered driveway you can easily drop people off at so they don't get wet. When you walk in you will see a nice wholesome atmosphere, to the left is an area to do some shopping for fresh bake goods with attendant to help with any questions. Amidst all that aromatic smells your drawn to hand carved and hand crafted items . Then you get seated right away but don't worry if there is wait they aim to please. The have a menu or you can let the waitress know that you want the buffet. She will ask what you would like to drink? They have Pepsi products, juice,coffee. As you walk around the buffet tables you noticed is well designed. Everything smells great, chicken, mashed potatoes and much much more. Did I mention everything is homemade. The chicken is juicy and warm to the touch. I don't know how they cook it , what type of butter or oil they use. I can say the wings and breast were unbelievable tasteful. The chicken was not over cooked and the beautiful thing was I can always get more .the deserts was to die for, if you can imagine cakes and cookies , icecream and everything else it was there. there's a cute 3x5 laminated sign that they pull out and put it on the table when they seat you that reads... "we will be right back" The tables was spaced out very generously from one to another so that you don't feel crowded and have a meal with your family or friends privately.. on the table theirs a couple of Amazing spread in squeezable containers that contains apple butter, peanut butter spread that's a mixture of Amish peanut butter and marshmallows. At first I didn't want to try it. My wife said it tasted amazing. As the lunch was rounding down I tried the apple butter. I've ate that before from my family made it, Lamberts, Apple Butter festival in Kimswick Missouri.. I tried it it was the most amazing flavorful butter.. The Amish did it right.. Now it's time to try the Peanut spread or maybe it's called peanut butter spread.., it's light in color. My wife put it on plain Amish bread . That's another thing to talk about the bread was moist, fresh. I can go on for hours talking about Amish bake goods. Now I took a big bite of the bread. So I can give my honest opinion. I usually eat peanut butter with toast so that the peanut butter would have time to melt and get more flavorful with bringing out the roasted peanut taste more intense. I didn't do that with the peanut/marshmallows spread.. My first thought or impression was it's light ,not sweet or overly sweet not by a longshot. It was not gooey like or butter usually is. It had a good texture. It had a mellow texture. Not any pun intended. It doesn't have a marshmallow taste. I guess by using the marshmallow it made the peanut butter taste better if that's possible. Since I love peanut butter. I wished I tried the sorghum molasses. I didn't ask them for it. If you don't ask .you miss out.. my and my wife we bought 3 jars of Amish apple butter 12oz jars... 1 jar of peanut spread 20oz.. I eat more apple butter in the winter time than anything else.. in the Amish market I noticed that they sold real honey with a small piece of the cone inside the jar.. if you've never tried real honey that it's a treat that you will always remember. Me and my wife took my daughter and son-in-law up to Yoders, it was their very first time. They loved it! we all ordered the buffet since that's probably their specialty. They were very impressed as well as us!! large buffet, large salad bar, soup bar,desserts and ice cream. Besides caramel and chocolate they had marshmallow cream topping which I've never seen before at other buffets. after enjoying a very large meal and stuffing ourselves we went and cruised through the gift shop which has lots of nice stuff!! you can buy cinnamon rolls, Home made bread ,peanut butter spreads, pie, ect.. this building is humongous so there's always room!! i'm sure people from Champaign and other surrounding communities come here because the towns not that big!! I've been coming to Yoder's for years whenever the family gets together for the holidays. It holds a special place in my heart and in my stomach. The service is always friendly, the food is always fantastic, and I always have a good time exploring the little shop. I can't get enough of the Amish peanut butter slathered over a warm cinnamon roll. The Haystack is one of my all-time favorite breakfast meals, and the buffet is always on point. read more

Food not bad but nothing to brag about. Good ole home cooking everything was fresh. Not much spice but there was s&p available and chalula to help out. They give you fresh slices of homemade bread and they have apple butter or home made peanut butter. Fried chicken was crunchy laced seasoning. And the fish didn't have much of a batter and was very thin and not flavorful. Wait staff was very friendly and helpful. Delicious! Stopped in for some food after the Aikman experience. It was pretty busy, but since it was just two of us we were seated fairly quickly. We were going to order off the menu, but our server said the kitchen was busy and she suggested we get the buffet and since my daughter is 3 she was free. We had lunch pricing which was $12.99. We each had a piece of broasted chicken ( the best chicken) l, corn, green beans, pickled beets, and ice cream for dessert. I also had some strawberry rhubarb cobbler/crisp ( omg it was amazing. Wish I could have taken some to go). My daughter loved the apple butter and peanut butter sauce as well so naturally we got one of each to go. I would love to come here and try some other items. I used to love coming here growing up in central, Illinois. Unfortunately, my last 2 experiences within the last year have changed my mind. The food is mediocre at best (besides the Amish peanut butter - that never disappoints). The buffet is what most go for, but the hot food isn't hot and doesn't have much flavor. The salad bar is just okay, and The dessert (I tried a cobbler) was not the greatest. This place has turned very touristy, which is great for the owners, but not for a quality dining experience. We were sat in a side room right next to dish room which made for a loud lunch with servers quickly passing by with arms full of dirty dishes to look at majority of the time. read more
