This is a family owned cafe with great breakfast food, the service was friendly and took my to-go order right away upon arrival. This place is amazing! So many customers and the atmosphere is great... I did seat near the big front window where I could see the beautiful courthouse and monument. Staff were very helpful and courteous. This is a great little place to stop. Very homey place with GREAT service. Lots of locals there so that means they like it too, not just a tourist place. We were there for breakfast. Our family has been coming to Lake Shelbyville for many years and the last couple we've made sure we stop when we're in town. Breakfast is our usual staple when we stop. Today I stopped in with my brothers before heading out to the lake. My brothers had usual two eggs over with bacon toast and hash browns. I had a ham and cheese omelet. The omelette was loaded with ham, I mean loaded. Was very good. I also had a side of bacon....could have been cooked a little longer, my brothers felt the same with their order. Restaurant is small with about a dozen tables and it was busy at 11, but not completely full. However, despite having two servers, they were overwhelmed. Tried to take our food order, but we hadn't gotten menus. When the food came, asked for ketchup but never got it. (It was really needed for the almost raw hashbrowns.) Had the garden omelette and while I'm grateful the eggs were cooked, the veggies were folded into it cold, uncooked, and nothing was seasoned. Thought we'd try Lisa's as the quality of the food has declined recently at 'Farm House'. Sadly to say the fare isn't any better at Lisa's. It is less greasy, but the toast is hard,dry, and cold. I asked for hash browns extra crispy, they weren't crispy at all, kind of cold in fact. We've eaten here twice, so I guess the first hard toast.. cold hash browns... wasn't a bad day! The food at Farm House might be better and it's certainly less expensive, by probably close to half the price for breakfast for two. I do like the exposed brick walls at Lisa's, very attractive, that is why I gave two stars. read more
