A colleague at work found this place online that we have never heard of before and we go out to lunch once a week and enjoy trying new places. Looking at the picture we knew we had to give it try. What cool comfortable place with lots of history behind the building. The owner served us lunch and provided a history behind the restaurant, the recipes and where they get their food products. Their bread is local and their meat is from Usinger's in Milwaukee, WI. I love that place and their products. Well let's get onto the food. I was brave and had the Smoked Liverwurst. Hadn't had it for 30 years. Since I went fishing with my grandfather. Boy it was awesome and brought back some memories. The owner gave me large slices of bread so I could make a sandwich. The mustard and fresh onions made it! My two colleagues were craving hot dogs, so they went with the Yoerg Sandwich. It's the flagship sandwich. A quartier pound dog with German cheese and a pickle spear. It was huge and tasty to say the least. It was only $9.95. Great price for lunch these days. My new fav saloon in St. Paul. The cutest little hidden gem. Founded in 1848- lots of history! Cool pictures on the walls. The drink menu is huge. From beer, wine, mead, sours, cider and flights. They rotate their drinks monthly. Love the 100% (sweet) pear cider. The food menu looks good- lots of tasty options. And cheesecake. We live in Minneapolis and decided to take a day trip to Saint Paul. I don't know why St. Paul always feels so far away when it's only a 20 minute drive, but we decided to hop around a few restaurants and bars! This is the oldest brewery ever founded in Minnesota, but not the longest continuously running. It was founded just three years after Minnesota became a US territory! Crazy history! Immediately upon walking in, this place has a charming but spooky vibe! My partner and I ordered our first round of tap beers, we decided to go with the oldest ones we could find on the menu! They were absolutely delicious and full-bodied. It was a cold winter day outside, but so warm and cozy inside we never wanted to leave! To prolong to stay a little bit, we ordered a flight and shared it together. We thought it was smart of them to have get-to-know-you cards on every table to keep the conversation flowing! I haven't visited Yorg's in a long time, but we decided to celebrate there once again. As you walk into the beautiful Victorian building, you're greeted by a cozy atmosphere. The warmth of the fireplace and the old-fashioned decor take you back in time. We were promptly served by Berry and Erin, who made our night memorable. We had a fabulous time trying their extensive selection of hard-to-find beers. There's nowhere else that offers such an amazing collection of beverages from Europe. While there's always Britt's Pub, Yorg's has an even more impressive assortment. The wine selection is also very good, and the prices are incredibly affordable for the quality. We alternated between beer and bubbly while enjoying great conversation with Berry and Erin. The food complemented the beverages perfectly. What a great place! Came once before on a whim and it was super crowded so didn't get a good chance to look at their extensive book. On the return trip it was quieter but still with a steady crowd, and we got to peruse away at the seats by the fireplace. They have a ginormous selection of European beers, ciders, and barley wines. They also have meads. Loved trying a sampling of a couple things. They only had one server who was working extra hard. Service could have been a little better if she had help. read more

Really extensive menu! This place has lots of fun and funky drinks options, from wine and ales to meads and lambics. Our table of 4 had drinks from all sections of the menu, including a ginger honey mead, lychee beer, framboise, blackberry lambic, classic tap ale... the list goes on. It's a great place to try lots of new things, the prices were fair so you can get a couple different things. They also have great German food as well, and cheesecakes. The inside has dark cozy vibes, with a second story that includes some nice cozy seating options. The only thing that was recommended that I would skip is the pickle pizza, we agreed that it was fairly overrated and we've had much better pickle pizza elsewhere. We decided to go here on a recommendation about the food. While researching where it was, I recognized that it used to be "The Strip Club" steakhouse, which we had been to a number of years ago; so I knew what a lovely old building it was and that the inside should be very charming. This was exactly the case. The drinks menu is huge, but that's part of the fun of it. You can try things you just can't get anywhere else in the city (or even the whole state). We decided on a non-alcoholic beer from Poland. You could have fooled me that it was non-alcoholic! It was awesome. We ordered a smoked sausage/wurst that came with pretzels, mustard, and sour kraut. I suppose it was sacrilege to have asked for a side of ketchup, but that's what I did... But that was no reflection on the quality of the sausage -- it was excellent. I just like ketchup on things like this. It's not like putting ketchup on a steak -- now that's unthinkable. (I'm sure some of you are totally disagreeing with me right now. ) But I digress... A very nice experience. The food came out quickly. The food and drink were great. The staff was very helpful. Highly recommended. What a gem! Visited for the first time this weekend and cannot wait to come back. It had an amazingly cozy vibe. The staff and patrons were friendly. It is a bit small with limited tables on the first floor, but does have extra seating and socializing spots on the first and second floors with big comfy chairs and electric fireplaces. There is a large beer selection. All of the food we saw come out looked SO GOOD, so I can't wait to come back to experience more of the food and drink menu. read more

I was in no hurry to get back. Got a text from my curling teammate on Thursday night that got me back in a hurry. "More than 500 beers (bottles and cans) curated from Europe. Always rotating. They only had 2 of their own beers on tap, and another 10 or so European beers on tap. They will never serve IPAs, never have sports on tv, and never serve American bar food." 500 might be a stretch, but I would definitely say three digits. Very skewed towards Belgians, but lots of beers from Europe that I have never seen before. The food menu seems very German heavy. Lots of bratwurst. I got a vegan brat. It was solid. Little bit on the spendy side, but rare unique beers will cost you. Calling all beer geeks! Get your butts to Yoerg! read more

Met here with some friends for good drinks and good food. They have an amazing extensive beer list and wine list. We enjoyed a fight of 4 different beers that you pick yourself. We also enjoyed a pate appetizer and a jambon and bread app. Both we delicious and very German. Dinner for most of us was a selection of their sausages made locally by Usingers. Do you like beer? Really good European beer? Beer you won't find anywhere else? If so, head over to Yoerg's. Inside the decor is a step above a neighborhood bar, but still cozy. Grab a seat at the bar if you can so you can talk to the owner, who is often behind it. Yoerg's was the first beer commercially manufactured in Minnesota, but the original St Paul brewery went out of business 50+ years ago. The current owner obtained the name, recipe, and lots of memorabilia. He then started brewing the original recipe- a steam type beer and searched out the perfect location after a false start on the West Side. Though many mourned the closure of the Strip Club it freed up this outstanding location for Yoerg's. At any time, there are likely 3-4 beers brewed by or for Yoerg's including the name sake. But the rest of the beer and wine menu are out of this world, well at least out of this continent. With an emphasis on harder to find, German, Belgian and other European imports, there is always something new to try. The Saison I had yesterday was phenomenal as was the lambic. Yoerg's also has a limited food menu, that includes Usinger Sausage, regarded by many as the best in the upper Midwest. They are trying to have vegan sausage on hand for the small few who request it, but were out the day I was there. (You can all do me a favor and ask for them when you are there). The soft pretzel and mustard pairs well with the beer, and the charcuterie plate and pizzas are options for the vegetarian. Stop on in- it will become a favorite for you. read more

What a gem of a place! If you are into beer, wine, mead, simple German food, this place is for you. The ambiance is fantastic as you feel like you are walking into an old time pub. The service was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and helpful in picking out beers. So much to choose from. No way you can get the full experience in one visit. Some may balk at the prices, but anyone who knows the quality of these imported beers, wines, and meads, will understand. The food is simple and reasonably priced. We were headed to another brewery when we passed this spot, saw that it was Minnesota's first brewery, and had to stop! The interior was warm and cozy, and felt like we were transported to a European pub. A fireplace and a spiral staircase up to lofted seating give this spot some serious character. We cozied up to the bar and were greeted by a lovely bartender and the owner of the brewery. They filled us in on their European specialities, which include almost entirely imports, monastery beers, and brews you can't find anywhere else in the city. What makes this place stand out is that they have the specific glass and coaster for all of their imports, so you get to enjoy the brew in it's specific branded glass. How cool?!? We weren't planning on stopping here, so we just grabbed two tasters of beers they made in house and were blown away. For a space that focuses on imports, they sure can make their own as well! :) Can't wait to come back here and try out the yummy food they have available as well! read more

Honestly, I've only ever had their beers, which easily has warranted 4 stars. One day, I swear I'll eat there. But for now, what an absolute monster of a selection! Imagine you walked into your local liquor store or Total Wine, and were like, I'll try these 10. Well here, you wouldn't even have had made it off the first page. I'm blown away at their selection. They don't have many that they brew themselves. But dear lord do they have enough to burry you in others. It's been three years since they opened and I was super worried they were too new to make it through the Vid. But here we are, almost two years later, and they're still cooking. We tried things we had never heard of, all while getting a beautiful history of Minnesota brewing from the bar tender. Honestly, we loved it before and we love it even more now. The building is super cool, clean, and more represents a speakeasy than any sort of bar or brewery. Love the place. I have two knocks on it, the first being that parking here is...not great. The other part is that when you see 750ml listed on the menu, you better believe you're not taking it home. My fiancé ordered one expecting to take it home, maybe there was a miscommunication, but, she ended up drinking it there. Thankfully, she loved it enough to make it worth it. I chose the perfect time to visit @yoergbeermn for the first time as they were hosting Orval Day with Orval vintages from 2016 up to 2021. This brewery not only has their own beer, but has one of (if not the best) Belgian beer offerings around. With a bottle selection that will make you want to start waving a Belgian flag and singing in Flemish, if you are a Belgian beer lover you need to stop in here. By the time I stopped in they had sadly already gone through all of the old vintages of Orval, but I went ahead and grabbed the 2021 vintage and their house beer to enjoy in a couch on the second floor. Orval 2021: Served in the proper glassware of an Orval Chalice, I drank the 2021 vintage of Orval to celebrate Orval Day. I hadn't had Orval in a long while so it brought back some great memories. It was full bodied and complex, with a bitterness from the hop cones used in the brewing process and a fruitiness from the fermentation process. Orval is unique in that they actually do a version of dry hopping which gives it loads of character unique to its Trappist Ale. The only thing that would have made this beer better was a plate of cheeses to accompany it. Yoerg House Beer: This lager was extremely clean, crisp, and refreshing. For the darker color (amber), it was still very light. The steam beer style of brewing they followed for the recipe, the same method that was used when the beer was first brewed over 150 years ago, provides a unique flavor. Mild hop, toasty malt, and light body make it one to drink all year round. read more

Finally stopped in today. Parking was pretty easy considering it's street parking. Small digs, but comfy and thankfully not loud. I liked the variety of seating options. I didn't look over the menu that closely despite them being known for carrying some pretty stellar beers!! That will be future visits agenda. Today I opted for a flight of the four Yoerg brewed beers. Despite being skeptical my beertender explained the wet hop process & how the beer wouldn't be the bitter associated w IPA's. It wasn't necessarily my style but I finished the taster... well done Yoerg... well done!! The other three beers were just as tasty. The gal beertender was friendly & helpful too. Oh boy do I love it here!! Every time I'm in town we make sure to make multiple stops! The wine and beer selection they have is unlike anywhere else in the twin cities, they have Georgian wine that is very hard to find and they sell it at a very reasonable price. They have pages and pages of beers and wines (by the glass or bottle) to choose from all very well curated. The servers know details about everything too so whatever you are searching for they always give good recommendations for. The restaurant itself is nice and spacious with a second room to the side and an upstairs, would be a great place to host an event. Overall this is truly one of if not my very favorite spot. read more

They have pages (literally) of beers, wines and ciders. The food was also reasonably priced and tasted amazing. Just under $10 for the wurst and pretzel plate. They have a side area through the merchandise area that is cozy with great ambiance. This would be a great date spot or to catch up with a group of friends. Service was great and the servers were attentive and very friendly. The food came out quickly and was made well. First time here and worth checking out as the ambience is very unique. We tried a couple of the sausage/bratwurst and giant soft pretzel. Pretzel was great and found out it's made with QC Pizzas dough. They also offer QC Pizza at this bar and a lot of people ordered it. Thinking I may to try it the next time around. The jalapeño cheddar Brat was good, but the bun was very tough. Other than that very pleased with the flavor of the meats. There beer and drink list is extensive! We went with the beer that they brew as it's a cool place that is minnesotas first and oldest brewery. We got to sit upstairs in the cozy chairs and it felt classy! We also came at a busy time so expect slow service, albeit just fine and friendly service. No complaints here. We had to go downstairs for every refill, fine. Our food was delivered, but had to get our own plate, fine. What I love about this place is the intimate cozy atmosphere that is chock full of historic (real) brewery memorabilia that the owner has been at great pains to seek out over the years. He has a story about how he acquired almost every piece. And should the conversation at your table flag, he has two wall-mounted TV screens running historic footage from the old brewery era. Once I sat and watched Betty Boop cartoons the whole time I was there. When you order food it is delivered hot quite promptly. There's a smaller and even more intimate mezzanine floor above. As an aside, I usually visit this place with friends after we've been out exploring caves in St Paul. It's a welcome treat afterwards to sit on the sofas, have a few beers, and trade war stories! read more

We went as a group of siblings and our nephew. Spent about $200 on food and beer. We brought a cake for our nephew birthday. They tried to charge us nine dollars for serving the cake. We even brought our own paper plates and forks. I understand charging a fee if we were sitting around drinking water... But we were obviously spending solid money. The owner said it was standard business practice. I think it was a bad decision on his part to charge us. He did relent and remove the charge. I probably won't be back. There are several of us in our party who probably won't be back. I do admit that the beers were amazing and a very unusual selection. Food is very average at best. Not really any options for vegetarians or gluten free folks. Nice enough waitress, but she was very disorganized and several times we had to repeat a request for beer or glasses or other items when they never showed up after first request. Stopped here on one of the lovely March days where the hint of warmer weather could be believed was actually coming, noted by the propped open door of Yoerg's. This brewery has a lot of history and it was fun to stop by here and enjoy a couple of beers which turned into food too, with the second round. It's located on a corner in a neighborhood and they've done a lot to make it a very quaint place. There is a second level to it too, with an iron spiral staircase. The staff were bringing out their pizzas left and right and I couldn't resist the pretzel which came with the pork/veal sausage and a tasty mustard. They have beers and wines from other places but I ordered one of the few Yoerg beers (the bock) they had available at the time. I look forward to returning and hopefully with friends! read more
