The 2-months leading up to my foot surgery I was trying everything and anything to improve my…read moregeneral wellness and the overall condition of my feet, prior to the surgery. Besides needing surgery to repair tendons and ligaments as well as to clean-up arthritis and remove a couple of bone spurs on my right foot, I was suffering from planters fantasia in my left foot. Sandy listened to all my complaints, I'm also peri-menopausal, she was very sympathetic and came up with a treatment plan; first to get me ready for my surgery then to help with my other symptoms. Sandy suggested a couple of changes in my diet and supplements and went to work on my feet. Over the next few weeks there was a noticeable improvement in my PF as well as less pain in my injured right foot. My overall mood improved with minor suggested lifestyle changes and regular acupuncture treatments. Now 5-weeks post-op my surgeon is very happy with my progress, I am nearly pain free and I am looking forward to returning to Sandy, once I can make it up those stairs again to continue improving my overall wellbeing. Thus I was mostly living my life in a sudafed fog. Within weeks of acupuncture and herbal therapy I noticed a dramatic improvement and after a few months I was no longer reliant on antihistamines. I rarely use them these days. Through the course of getting to know Sandy and working on my allergies I mentioned that I had somewhat chronic pain in my arms from spending too many years at a computer. This started an ongoing series of treatments for that which has helped a lot. Sandy uses a variety of treatments for RSI taken from her own personal experience in her former corporate career. She is very knowledgable and enthusiastic about her treatments while being practical about our modern lifestyles (and my particular bad habits). She is very personable and engaging and picks up on off-hand comments or body language to offer appropriate treatments. I met Shannon a long time ago at a restorative yoga class that she was teaching. After a fully…read morerelaxing hour, she shared that she also did dance classes and body work. I took her card and kept it. and kept it and even through spring cleaning and desk clearing, I kept it. Until finally this weekend I decided that I wanted something restorative and nurturing, so I went to see Shannon. She has a welcoming home studio in a residential part of Berkeley, which I liked because I could feel the vibes of her home. I always prefer this to manicured offices, even though it takes a certain vulnerability and bravery for massage therapists to open up a glimpse into their lives this way. During the initial check in, she was very attentive and listened to how I was feeling very closely. She was encouraging, and also relatable. I asked for a shiatsu massage, which is done fully clothed on two soft sheepskin rugs in the middle of the floor. After some sound therapy and chanting, she very thoughtfully stretched and cradled each limb. It was very cool to see how patiently she worked, how relaxed and rhythmic the pace was, and how she seemed very attuned to what as going on with me. At one point, I was beginning to get cold, and just as I was about to mention it, I felt a blanket being draped over me. She talks about how the music and the eye pillow help one to "drop down" into the space, but a lot of the time I felt like I was flying, as she waved my feet and made full circles with each arm, stretching my back and neck. It was a very special massage, and I am happy that she is still teaching restorative yoga, now in my neighborhood, so I can drop in for this kind of supported, guided resting more often!

The most dramatic was a painful knee that had been difficult off and on for many years. Several months ago it had become quite painful whenever I went down steps (which I do daily). Srinika recommended avoiding certain foods, and also gave me supplements, which were from good sources.
