Wow I ordered 2 tamales today for lunch. They were very tasty and just the right size. There was a great selection of tamales, tacos, etc. The owner let me take a picture of him and you can see his menu behind him. Great guy brought my food out to me and was very nice. So, I've been pursuing a fitness goal so I've cut out a lot of different kinds of foods while pursuing my goal like meat, dairy, gluten, and refined sugar. I met Jorgé and I picked his truck because he had baked avocados and other sides that were the closest thing to my preferred range of foods. I told him I was pretty much a vegan and he asked me about four questions to get me exactly what I wanted. Lunch at Yolanda's today. Had a chicken tamale with rice and beans. Tamale had a plentiful amount of chicken, and rice was a nice consistency and not dried out at all. Tasty lunch for about $12. Couldn't finish it all. Service was very patient as I poured over the extensive menu and asked a lot of questions. Lots of seating available at The Yard. I'm sorry I didn't take pics before we dug in! The service made for an incredible experience!! We got savory and sweet tamales. The tamales were good what made them great was the sauces! They add so much complexity to the flavors. The homemade sour cream was delicious. The pazole both looked and smelled amazing and we can't wait to come back and try it. Had the BEST lunch today!! The service at Yolanda's just took it over the top! Fast, friendly, sincere... He commented that it was the perfect day for posole, and when I couldn't decide on a flavor of salsa, he gave me both. He also shared which tamales had just come out of the steamer so that I could make a choice that was fast and got me back to work on time. The pork posole was FULL of big chunks of perfectly cooked pork and hominy, and came with a healthy serving of chips, salsa, onions, cabbage, and lime. The red pork tamale was fresh and soft and big enough to save some for later. The combo also came with a Jarritos. All for less than $15!!! There is a lot of options on their menu. Oh man!!! I am in love!! I got the baked avocado with Spanish rice and black beans!!!! This was a flavorful meal!! And Jorge was amazing! If authentic is what your after look no farther than Yolandia's. The Beef tamales was larger than I expected with a fair portion of meat. ( I think all tamale should have more meat in them) this filled the bill. I also sampled a pork tamale the pork was correctly season moist and flavorful. I ordered pozole with chicken . It comes with chips and chopped salad / salsa dressings . The pozole was PACKED with chicken and other ingredients . This is an entire meal and then some . I order medium spicy , I should have done spicy but I was tasting other food and did not burn out my tongue. It was hot and tasty I will definitely get this again perhaps in the small size and explore other items on the menu. Oh dear goodness the food is DELICIOUS!!! I have eaten at a couple other carts in the yard but nothing compared to Yolanda's! Jorge is super friendly and accommodating. I just knew I wanted to try a baked avocado (I love ). He suggested the pollo verde with corn salsa and it did not disappoint! My 7 year old is super picky and she liked the avocado with cheese (it was overflowing with pollo verde so finding plain avocado with cheese was not an easy task!) Jorge offered to make her one with just avocado and cheese next time (so I didn't have to try and make plain spots.) And trust me, there will be a next time!!! Jorge said they are open Mon-Fri so they can spend time with family on the weekends (that just makes me want to eat there more- amazing food and all about family!) Lots of great places to eat at the Yard Food truck collective but I'd like to highlight "Will Ya Look at That"and Yolanda's Tamales. I'm trying to boost them for two reasons: I had to leave town before being able to make a purchase I promised to make. Second, literally the best tamales I've had from a restaurant. I grew up eating Sonoran style mexican food in southern Arizona and my absolute favorite dish was homemade tamales. Any tamale that I've eaten since leaving Arizona has been mediocre. Some have even been good but not "Yolanda's" good (including a place in my old hometown that 'specializes' in tamales). Here, the masa is the key. They do it right: using an excellent grind of their masa harina. I'm not sure of the shortening used but classic tamales are made with light whipped manteca (lard). Lastly, the purveyor confirmed the final ingredient to fantastic masa: broth from your protein. The end result is a creamy, firm texture with delicious flavor, and then you get to the meat of the matter: a wide selection of chicken bases, beef, pork and more. We tried Yolanda's favorite with tasty beef and braised veggies- my wife's favorite and closest to my hometown's flavor. I enjoyed the green chili chicken immensely. Sorry we didn't make it back to you; I hope your product gets the recognition it truly deserves. The pozole is delicious and served daily. The tamales are full of tender, juicy meat. This please has fresh food and everything was very good. The guy working even helped us carry our food out to the car so we wouldn't have to make two trips. We have been there twice and will definitely go back many more times. read more
