My previous experiences with this hospital were not very good at all, quite the opposite and in the negative. This experience was much better, was able to hop around and find a wheelchair no problem. The staff were super friendly and worked with a sense of urgency, when it all was said and done, the visit took about 3 hours, the only thing that I have negative to say was that the doctor at the time read my xray wrong and I got a phone call the next day telling me very bad news. The hospital was very clean and bright. Lots of parking on site Transit options are the 123 and 80 buses, and the 15 with a bit of a walk from the mall.

The staff and services here are excellent. This is not a hospital as such as there are no inpatient…read moreservices and no emergency department. An urgent care centre (UCC) provides care for non emergency injuries and personal health issues. Sprains, cuts, rashes, broken fingers etc for example, as well as blocked catheters, urinary retention and post surgical complications if needed. Emergency care is provided at another site, as is inpatient care. This site provides investigative and pre operative work up, as well as rehabilitation on an outpatient basis. An army of knowledgeable volunteers and clerical staff ensure you are seen in good time. The UCC practices triage, so less urgent cases may wait a long time for treatment. These cases could probably get seen at a walk in clinic or at their own doctors. Properly utilized this can be a one stop shop. Before I retired as an RN I referred patients here appropriately and they received good care. My wife had her follow up care here after her knee replacement, and I have cardiac investigations done here. The one down side? The cost of parking, although options are available to reduce the cost for frequent attenders.

I found this travel clinic online, and their consultation fee was the cheapest one, not to mention it was close to my work. The best part about this place is that it's right on the subway line (Sheppard Line) and it's close to North York General Hospital - about a 2 minute walk from the South exit, on the west side (which would be directly across the hospital). I made an appointment, though they have walk-in clinic days. Consultation was $35 (if you go with another person) - or $40 if you are going alone. Dr. Edwards looked at our itinerary and walked us through all the shots and medication we would have to take for all the areas we are going to be going to. She was very thorough and time-efficient, though not the most personable. In the end we had to take two shots, Yellow fever and Hep A. They total cost was $193 ($90 for yellow fever), they also charged a $8 administration fee. We walked in around 3:30 and left at 4:40ish (you have to wait 30 minutes after you get the yellow fever shot). Overall, a pretty painless experience.

My mother was a patient at Runnymede Healthcare Centre this past summer. While she was excited to…read morehave her rehabilitation at this state-of-the-art facility, she encountered less than standard care with her personal hygiene needs. She developed a bedsore, became ill and was transferred back to hospital. While the excellent care provided in Hospital healed her infection, and started to heal her bedsore, she decided to enter into palliative care. She was able to transition to her home to spend her last days amongst those she loved. Our advice is for the family to be questioning, present as much as possible and insist on being given the specific medical information about their loved one's health. The nursing staff for the most part is excellent, as are the O.T./PT.'s. Clearly there was a lapse in patient observations being documented, communicated and acted upon.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the good idea to photograph the panel where the staff changed their names every day and I feel embarrassed about that. I only remember the names of the physiotherapists, Shalini and Arjun, with whom I felt a special connection and to whom I greatly appreciate their help. But in fact, I got excellent treatment from all the staff at the center, including nurses, support workers, cleaning and kitchen staff. The doctor who took care of my health came to see me and answered questions every time I asked to see her. And the administration lady was also present to assist me. I have nothing but words of gratitude for the entire team at this incredible health center. For obvious reasons, I would not like to have to be hospitalized again, but as a Latin lady, I can only tell you that I will always carry you in my heart.

Seriously, they never ever pick up the phone, and there is no voice mail. But hey it is 2026 and that's how the world works. Or doesn't. We have gone from longing for the days when physicians actually looked up from their screens and examined you, to remembering when their receptionists picked up their phone. I am sure they are all engaged in some meaningful activity...it just doesn't include patients. The doctor I see is sometimes good, sometimes inconsiderate, always distracted. Never follows up on concerns but he does refill the meds you may or may not need. Ontario health care is a car wreck... Pharmacists here are actually quite good and thorough. Usually.

It's a beautiful building that's well maintained without the usual strong odors (bodily nor industrial), maybe because there wasn't too many patients nor visitors around. On the main floor next to the west terrace you can find the Max Tannenbaum Sculpture Garden which has 20 vibrantly colored sculptures that depict the human body in graceful yet powerful poses (see my many pictures). There are a couple terraces on the 5th floor as well, one of which has a beautiful view of the Don River. They also have a rooftop garden where you can sit and relax. From this vantage point you can view East Chinatown, Lake Ontario and even the towering buildings of Downtown. It was so quiet that all I could hear was a chorus of chirping crickets, relaxing indeed!. TIPS: -Don't forget to check out the Old Don Jail next door which has been converted and now houses the administrative offices of the hospital. Needless to say I went back through my phone log and not ONCE did their number show up or ANY 905 number for that matter. They basically lied to my face & grinned the entire time like they thought it was funny. I ended up speaking with 3 other clinics as I needed help this day & every clinic I spoke with said New Direction constantly has problems & isnt a good clinic. If your looking for a nice, honestly friendly clinic to deal with, in my opinion, go elsewhere. They are rude and by the looks/sound of it they dont care about the ppl coming to get help .. it's a pay cheque to them

The few times I couldn't get to see him, I saw the clinics other doctor, who was equally friendly and thorough. The clinic is never too crowded, like some methadone clinics are, and it has the feel and atmosphere of a medical facility, rather than the junkie-central vibe you sometimes see in methadone clinics.
