This is an awful place to do business. We bought a ring elsewhere and needed it sized. The ring was for our daughters birthday. It was promised well before the date to accommodate shipping. It was not ready and he was rude. I was devastated. I was told I could go to the jeweler in Fresno where the ring was being sized...REALLY? I looked up the Fresno shop and it was in a neighborhood I would not be safe driving into. I had to wait and it was two weeks late. My daughter was very understanding but I was sure she was hurt. My husband needed a new battery in his watch so right there he had it replaced. The screwdriver slipped in the case back and put a huge scratch into the watch case. What a loser place to do business. First off this place opens at 10:30. I arrived at 10:45 and it still wasn't open. Finally the owner showed up at 11 o'clock. Second I needed a new battery in my watch I took it in this place wanting to support my local business. He looked at it and told me he didn't want to do it because it's an Invicta. I guess this place isn't in need of my money. read more

I wanted to have my old wedding band melted down and made into a new piece of jewelry. They kept it and just set the stone in some standard setting. He would not even speak to me or admit it, but it was very clear. Shady as hell. Go elsewhere. read more

Long story short.. I brought a ring in to be sized for my girlfriend. When it came time to pick up the ring, the man behind the counter that claimed to be the owner of the establishment, grabbed a bag with the ring in it, took the ring out, and gave the ring to my girlfriend to try on and said "that will be $26". As my girlfriend was trying the ring on I noticed that something didn't look right (meanwhile he is standing there with his hand out awaiting some form of payment). So I took the ring off my girlfriends finger and took it over to the window to try to get a better look at the stone. I looked at it for a good 10 seconds before I said, "umm, this isn't the same stone". At witch point he responded "oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that the stone that was originally in there broke while the ring was being soldered".. So then I ask him "at what point were you going to tell me that the stone had been broken and switched?" He says "oh, I don't know why I forgot to put the broken stone in the bag with the ring." As he grabs a plastic tote from a back counter containing nothing but my broken stone. He then gives me the pieces of the broken stone and says "yeah, it just blew apart in the ultrasonic cleaner.." So if you're still reading this you probably noticed that his story just changed. So I say to him, "wait, you just told us that it broke while it was being soldered." That's when he started getting very agitated. My girlfriend felt so uncomfortable that she had to leave the store and wasn't present to watch him physically push me out the door. A week and a half later and I still can't believe what happened.. We brought a ring in for sizing, the owner of the store gave us our ring without mentioning a thing about it being a different stone(a cheap fake at that), once asked about the switch up he made up three different stories of how it broke, wouldn't let me say a word, scared the crap out of my girlfriend, and eventually pushed me out the door.. Dishonest maniac!! Don't ever take your family heirlooms there because you may not be getting your great grandmothers family jewel back. read more

After reading previous comments, I probably would think twice about having him work on my jewelry, but I just needed my watch battery replaced. The man was friendly and helpful. Quickly replaced it and I was on my way in less than 10 minutes. My experience was very positive. read more

I wish I'd read the review posted on 3/30/14 before I'd gone to Yosemite Jewelers. I felt so sick about my dealings that it's taken me four months to be able to bring myself to relive the bad experience. I took two rings, my silver, turquoise ring and a gold, opal ring to Yosemite Jewelers for sizing, plus a replacement of a missing opal. After several weeks I stopped in to see if my rings were ready and discovered that the man who claimed to be the owner, had put both of my rings through his ultrasonic cleaner. The stones in my silver, turquoise ring looked so different and when I expressed this, the owner quickly said they were the same stones. I was stunned by the change in the appearance of the ring. I'd assumed that it was the cleaning solution that had caused the stones to be various shades of turquoise. He assured me the solution wouldn't cause a color change and again stated, that they were the same stones. The eight small stones weren't valuable, so it hadn't even occurred to me that they would be different stones. I wanted to continue to wear this ring because of its sentimental value; my father had bought it for me 54 years ago, when I was 9 years old. My gold opal ring had been sized, however the owner hadn't yet replaced the missing opal. Still, while I was there I wanted to see the ring. It also had a VERY different appearance, because all the antiquing had been removed during its trip through the ultrasonic cleaner. I was feeling sick about having both rings so altered, yet against better judgment I paid for the sizing of the turquoise ring, leaving the opal ring behind. Later while having lunch, I felt the top of the ring and it was extremely sharp; on closer examination I saw that the prongs holding the stones were standing up. I immediately took the ring off so I wouldn't lose the stones. About three hours had passed since my first visit to the jeweler that day, when I stopped in a second time to show him the sharp prongs. He acknowledged the problem, saying that this loosening can happen during the cleaning process, but he had to be asked to fix it, he wasn't volunteering. I waited while the owner reluctantly worked on my ring. (As I write this, I'm very embarrassed that I was still trying at this point to work with this guy; my only excuse is that I was so upset!) While waiting, I saw that my opal ring was still, after 3 hours, precariously setting on top of a LOT of stuff on top of his desk, next to the counter... it was never put away and could easily been lost amongst the piles. On returning home and looking closely at my turquoise ring, I could see that the man had simply smashed the prongs, he obviously isn't a skilled jeweler. I could also see that only one of the stones may be original, the others are various colors and sizes and were probably replacing those that had broken during the cleaning process. Fortunately, I got my opal ring back before further damage may have been done. I was thankful to find a reputable jeweler to replace the missing opal. Notes: 1. After researching, I quickly found numerous websites about cleaning jewelry and learned that you should never put turquoise or opals into an ultrasonic cleaner, they're too porous and can crack or break. 2. When sizing a ring, this jeweler stretches the metal to make it bigger, rather than adding a bridge to create the larger size. His prices don't reflect this short cut. I was unaware of this practice and in the future will ask a jeweler about his/her method of sizing. read more

Worst jewelry store ever! Even though he has his hours posted on the door, you will be surprised to find the shop open at those times. The inside of the shop is dark and uninviting, and there are piles of disorganized junk and paperwork stacked haphazardly behind the counter. I had tried to get a watch battery replaced here some years ago, and the owner was unable to handle this request. I foolishly decided to try him again for a couple of simple repairs. I was told they would be ready on a particular date. When I drove to the shop, it was closed, even though it was supposed to be open. Tried again several days later. Still closed. Tried a third time later that day, finally found him open. He could not find the jewelry I had left, but finally located it and claimed he had "misfiled" it and never sent it out for repair. Then he wanted to start the process all over again. I grabbed the jewelry and ran. I try to support small local businesses but will never use this shop again. read more

Terrible experience. had him work on my daughter's necklace--fixing the chain. He sent the work down to Fresno.... It came back with a different chain and 5 inches longer--also it was fixed so that the pearl did not sit correctly--2 inches shorter on one side.... When we took it back, the guy refused to make it right without charging an additional $30. VERY very poor service. This guy is awful. read more
