We've been with this practice for a couple of years and the last time we were due to run out of serum, we were given a form to sign and authorize insurance to renew. Despite this, they still didn't create new serum setting us back on our schedule- less than ideal when one of your kids is on a biological med to manage his asthma. Today we went to go get our shots and were advised that our serum had expired since our last injection several weeks ago but no one had advised us or had us sign the required authorization form. Even more disappointing is that we've had several conversations within the last month with Dr. Carr as well as office staff regarding our pending relocation and the process for transferring our existing serum to the new practice. Unless you want to add managing your allergy serum expirations to your already busy schedule, I suggest finding another provider until this office management improves

And we ended up just staying in the room until 10:30am (nobody came in) and he decided to leave without seeing the dr. What a wasting time! They texted and emailed us a multiple times that we can't be late or should give them 24 hours notice to avoid $75 cancellation fee. What's the point of having an appointment? They could have just booked less people than they are supposed to. Because they seem like they don't care about other people valuable time.

I could understand $100+ balances, something excessive, but I've been in 3 times prior complaining about this phantom additional $20 charge, to no avail. Every time they demand I pay, and every time I refuse. They then look in their system and see, yes, I have already paid this $20 school form fee on Xx date. Then I pay my copay and they say they will get someone in billing to look at the charge. Today my wife took my son in and they forced her to pay this $47 balance before they would give my son his biweekly allergy shots. Shameful behavior IMO, over $27 (since $20 we'd already paid and they confirmed this, just their system not reflecting it for w/e reason). It's impossible to get anyone to actually answer the phone, and for billing the only option is to leave a message. We've been going here several years and the service is going more and more downhill. Long wait times past your appointment time were always a thing that annoyed me, now this billing nonsense as well as conditioning my son's care based on paying a less than $50 balance is just greedy and unacceptable.

She is located in one of the multitude of Hoag Medical buildings within a couplex in Newport. The nurses here are very nice, caring and congenial. Allergy tests were performed (the method where they put an array of tests on your back) which helped narrow down the allergies. Dr. Gupta then reviewed the allergies, explained in detail how and why allergies occur and what line of testing and treatment she would like to follow plus took time to answer all my questions. She then had me do a blood test and make a return visit to review everything. She really pinpointed what was causing my allergic reactions. Dr. Gupta instills confidence in her knowledge and abilities. She is very professional, helpful, caring and courteous; a beautiful person both inside and out.

Referrals were submitted appropriately with the exception of one of them.However, when it came to maintaining an established and effective treatment plan, I encountered resistance. Despite the medication being previously approved by insurance and clinically effective, I was told I no longer qualified based on current lab values. This overlooks the fact that the improved labs are a direct result of the treatment itself. Discontinuing or blocking access under these circumstances disrupts continuity of care. Additionally, there were concerning communications indicating uncertainty about how the treatment was approved in the first place, which was inappropriate and not patient-centered. I also experienced delays due to authorization errors that required correction. Once identified, the necessary updates were not completed within the expected timeframe, further delaying care. I understand providers are managing heavy workloads and administrative burdens. However, prior authorizations and continuity of care are part of the treatment process. Patients should not have to repeatedly advocate for access to a therapy that is already working. I would strongly encourage clearer communication, accurate handling of authorizations, and a more consistent commitment to maintaining effective treatment plans.
