The pastries are gorgeous, and, for the calorie and coin counter, some are 'mini' versions of the usual-sized goodies (think: croissants, pain au chocos, and sows' ears--don't know what ya'll call 'em here) at a fraction of the price. The loaves of bread (challah, white, wheat, light rye) seem to come both bagged and unbagged. The bagels are displayed in open baskets out on the floor and appear to be sold singly. Help yourself...to a pair of tongs! I was surprised and happy to see the tongs. Too bad there weren't any judiciously placed near the unbagged loaves. I stood next to a man who picked up around five separate loaves of wheat (and one bagette) in both hands in order to caress their middles and squeeze gently on their crusts. At one point it looked as if he were going to bring a loaf up to his ear. I expect he was hoping to hear the ocean. After all the fingering, he actually bought one! I bought a small, bagged rye loaf for £1.55. After watching the 'Bread Whisperer' do his thing on the wheat loaves, I left the naked bagels untouched. I'll be back, however, for some Hammentaschen and mini sows' ears!

There are loads of options here - different bread, different toppings, hot or cold, small or large. They also have a fresh salad bar, a hot food counter, ice cream, cold drinks, crisps, little area that sells homemade cakes and biscuits and even a little area that has biscuits in tins and olives etc. You can take away or eat in for a little extra. Little tip - if you taking your sandwich away (this may apply to eating in too, but I've never done that) order your sandwich at the counter where they are making them, get a ticket then go and pay.

It came with lots of cream on top satisfied my sweet tooth. I tried my friend's sweet potato and chorizo hash, but it tasted very average. The ingredients used in their food seemed fresh. But, if you don't want to choose, you might as well order two kinds of wraps as the prices of one is very reasonable. I then asked someone for a recommendation and the she told me that I should try the "Moroccan Harissa Chicken" and the "Minted Couscous" on the side. And so I followed her advise, as well as the cooking instructions on the packaging later at home. And let me tell you, I was seriously surprised as how good this tasted. Indeed, the folks at Cook are definitely staying true to their motto: "Our food looks and tastes homemade (maybe even a bit better!)" I'm convinced of this great concept and I'm planning a trip to the Cook store in Muswell Hill as I'm typing this.
