Yost & Campbell is the most unreliable and untrustworthy provider I have worked with. They installed our system for almost 30k, and it immediately started having problems. It provides no heating despite being a split unit system that is heating & cooling. They came out multiple times while under warranty and could not identify the cause. Once the warranty expired they came out and immediately found that the system had been leaking coolant, but since it was out of warranty required 2k to fix it. They fixed it and stated the fix came with a 1 year warranty. It stopped working 2 weeks later, and they now require us to pay again to have someone come out and attempt to diagnose the problem. We have done business with Yost and Campbell for a number of years and for the most part have been satisfied. In October of '25 we purchased a new HVAC from them which was installed and provided heat thru the winter while we were out of town. We returned to NY in early May. During late May the temperature rose and we needed AC. The system did not function. We have had servicemen here for 3 days with no success starting it. The response from Y&C has been beyond poor. They do not return phone calls and have made no apparent to RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. POOR SERVICE. POOR RESPONSE. I called Yost and Campbell because they replaced by HVAC under 5 years back and my product was under warranty I got appointment and they immediately sold me their 1 year service which is OK as everybody upsell Wednesday their technician comes and said the HVAC is good, In the furnane Mother Board is not good, He kept saying blower motor is working and he has tested it. Within 1 hrs they send a sales rep who said hey your furnace is 12 year old why don't we replace it and quoted me 9500 for a goodman replacement, Knowing that I have carrier thermostat and dampers he kept saying of carrier will cost you more than 11000$ I told him if my Blower motor is good why should I spend this much, he said ok we will charge you 1600$ to replace motherboard I was given Friday Appointment for mother board. In between another technician told me he can replace motherboard for 1100$ as Carrier part is 815$ + tax and he will charge 300 as it is 10-minute job--- PRICE GOUGING 1. So basically they wanted 800$ labor for 30 minute work. I am writing this review as a final warning to anyone considering Yost & Campbell for their HVAC needs. This is one of the first negative reviews I have ever written on Yelp I hope you take what I am about to say with the utmost sincerity. My experience with this company has been an absolute and complete nightmare, characterized by a truly, truly staggering lack of professionalism, borderline deceit, and a complete disregard for customer service. My troubles began with what was supposed to be a routine service. I was a member of their maintenance program, which I enrolled in with the promise that it would keep my systems in "top condition." Despite their technician giving my A/C unit a "green light" during an inspection just three months ago, the compressor completely failed. Since that day, their behavior has been a study in how to alienate a customer. I have called their office more than ten times, and not once--not a single time--have they returned my call as promised, only once after I offhandedly mentioned I might be prepared to explore other options. This total lack of communication is not just frustrating; it's disrespectful and shows a business that simply does not care. This sterling reputation of 80 years? No idea what that is about. This ain't your mom & pop shop, that's for sure. When they finally decided to engage, their tactics became openly deceptive. They tried to sell me a repair for a crazy price, offering a so-called "discount" that was nothing more than the standard parts warranty--a benefit I was already entitled to. It was a thinly veiled attempt to make me feel like I was getting a special deal when in reality, they were just fulfilling the bare minimum of their obligation. I eventually just gave up and went with them; another HVAC tech would charge to visit, and they had the most intimate knowledge of the deficiency, unfortunately, and I did not want to continue down these quite frankly draining bad-faith negotiations. The final insult came after a long series of empty promises. I was told a technician "might" be able to come on August 21, but of course, no one ever showed up, no communication about that. When I called the supervisor, whom I had been speaking with, what a surprise, she is out of office! Her assistant then sent a blunt email demanding full upfront payment for the repairs, which was a direct contradiction of what I had been told in writing by her supervisor. This moment revealed a shocking level of internal disorganization and a business that operates without integrity. To top it off, the supervisor misspelled my name as "Scampini" on an e-mail with me (even though it is in my e-mail and on their documents), and then did not even correct herself when I pointed it out. Utterly shameless, and I can only assume the intent was to intentionally antagonize me. Ultimately, after enduring all of this, I was forced to pay their named price just to get my unit fixed for the reasons listed above. The entire ordeal has proven that Yost & Campbell is a company that will take your money under false pretenses and then treat you with contempt. My furnace and new ac compressor were both installed by technicians that took pride in their work and weren't just their to collect a quick check and not give you anymore than they have too. Unfortunately in today's world the workers don't want to work and when they do it's not their best and then you have to pay a lot. Every worker in Yost & Campbell took pride in what they were doing all the way up to the electrician. STAY AWAY new corporate ownership with horrific service ! I have been a happy customer for years since they did my oil gas conversion. Always excellent prompt courteous customer service and assistance. I paid for a maintenance plan with them because of the great service . The last 2 years I noticed massive changes with loss of their longtime great staffing and poor follow up . I just found out they have new ownership which is a large corporation which owns multiple HVAC companies which explains the rapid deterioration . Since Spring of last year I had a leaking radiator which they had 2 staff look at over several MONTHS and then take forever to give estimate! I had to call multiple times and speak to multiple folks to get estimate . Then leak occurred on a different part of radiator and NO ONE got back to me to let me know if repair originally quoted needed an update. Reception center folks I spoke with were sassy and unhelpful when I told them I was disappointed and frustrated no one was getting back on this repair. I asked to speak to new owner and nobody contacted me. Last winter when they came to do maintanece on my furnace which they installed and have been maintaining supposedly annually repair guy left note that I had rotting pipes and furnace had issues because it was not well maintained ! Again when I tried to speak to someone to understand how the equipment they are maintaining annually could be in sudden disrepair NO ONE got back to me. Final straw on my minisplit maintenance which you pay $200 plus for guy came and said my main compressors needs cleaning but in order to get it cleaned another appointment and more $ needs to be charged. He said new ownership does not allow them to spend more than half hour on maintenance appointments. I promptly explained that I believed there was a broken pipe leaking hot water and constantly taking on water. The tech disagreed and said it was an air-lock. He bled the system and charged $325 for an hour's work. The unit would not stop running and was still taking on water. Y&C plumber came by, said nothing he could do that night... took pics on an iPad and told me someone would contact me the next day with an estimate, another $150 trip charge. Never heard back from them ever.... Called Giuliano's on a recommendation, they came to look on a Sunday, no charge. They had prior jobs lined up, so i had to wait till Thursday. I would like to update my previous review of Yost and Campbell. Manager Mike did contact me once my review posted and advised me that it had been sent to him. He apologized repeatedly for not calling me and for not coming to provide an estimate. He claims to have not received my voice message (mind you, my call was forwarded to his cell phone by his office, and the outgoing message confirmed that I had reached Mike). He also stated that he was not advised that he was supposed to go to my house to provide an estimate (interestingly enough, when I called the office for the second or third time, I was advised that a note was in the system stating that Mike was going to come to the home "to provide a clean estimate". I asked what that means, and I was told that Mike would provide us with a detailed estimate). Mike did ask me to remove the review, however I declined. I stand by my review and feel that a company which is either a) not communicating with employees, or b) taking no responsibility for missing an appointment is not a company which I could fairly recommend. STAY AWAY! I purchased my new boiler from this company and was pleased with the offer and service, being a new homeowner with 0 experience. 2 months after the installation, I discovered a leak and called the company. They sent 2 technicians who stated the leak was between the main floor and basement and needed to break the ceiling to change and repair the pipe. It took about 2 weeks, and several phone calls to get an estimate. The person in the office said they estimated the job to be about 4 hours, they charge $150 an hour per mechanic, sending 2, and that I needed to pay a deposit of $1500 to schedule the job. If the bill was higher, I'd have to pay the difference and if it was lower, they would reimburse me. I paid the deposit. A different mechanic showed up and found out the leak was from a pipe elbow in the crawl space and not between the walls, as the other said. First, he said that needed to go to the office to get some cardboard to get in the crawl space but I had many moving boxes and gave them to him. Then he said he didn't have the elbow and went to the office to get it, which took him an hour. His assistant was on the phone the whole time, arguing with a girl, so he did not even help. In the end, the job was completed in 30 minutes, but he tried by all means to waste time so they could charge me for 3 hours to change an elbow. I contacted the company to request an invoice to find out what I had paid for and to see if I'd get a refund, since they had estimated the job to be bigger than it was, and they never sent it to me. I called and emailed them several times, and always said would send it but never did. I don't trust this company anymore. 0 customer service and just take advantage of people. read more

This review aims to be objective and factual and reflects my own opinions and experiences with Yost & Campbell Heating, Cooling and Generators. In November 2021, I hired this company to replace my oil-fired steam heat boiler, radiators and central air conditioning system with a combination of Mitsubishi Hyper Heat ductless mini splits and a ducted air handler for upstairs, which came with a 2-year labor warranty. The work began in late March 2022, and problems arose immediately. The company did not adequately clean up after the demolition of the existing system (they did not even have a shop vac to use and had to borrow my broom and dust pan for excessive debris). The entire demolition and installation was supposed to take 10-15 days but stretched into six weeks as the company only sent two workers each day. The work was sloppy and not well organized. The company had to come back to replace an entire refrigerant line running from the attic down the side of my house because the original installers had kinked the line so badly that the system stopped heating in the middle of January. Later on, I had some renovations done to my basement and discovered that the installers had completely severed two support ledgers when installing one of their refrigerant lines. They cut through the main support beams that hold up part of my house which weakens the structure, potentially creates a life-threatening safety hazard, and meant I had to pay my contractor extra to remediate the damage. Finally, the icing on the cake was in March 2024 when I had them install a new ductless mini split onto the existing system to accommodate the newly-renovated basement. The existing system was working well until they added the new unit. When I called for help, they diagnosed a broken branch box that they had themselves damaged during installation but claimed I was out of warranty and insisted on charging me for repairs. With three small children sleeping upstairs and temperatures reaching 82 degrees with high humidity (and hotter in the house and upstairs), I felt compelled to pay for the repair for my family's comfort and safety. Despite months of arguing for them to honor their warranty (and referencing the paperwork to prove it should be covered) and refund my money, I received no resolution. Scheduled an appt for Fri 6/28 from 1-6 to service my Central A/C. Technician never showed or call. Called at 6:10, was informed they would have Tech call me. Rec'd call back from Tech at 7:00, telling me that he can come in about an hour 1/2, informed him to come on Sat 6/29. Tech did come on Sat at about 9:30. Informed him that the A/C worked but was leaking water downstairs, a pipe was disconnected from the A/C unit. I stayed home waiting all day, Tech never returned or called. He spent about 5 mins at my house. Yost & Campbell debited my acct for $107.79. On Monday 7/1, I called my bank & informed them to reverse debit chg since Services were not rendered by Yost & Campbell. Bank submitted a claim for the chg. I called Yost & Campbell on Monday & spoke with James, requested to speak to a Mgr, however, he told me that the Office Mgr Sidney is on a call & he can have him call me back. Explained the complaint to James, & he informed me that he will make sure Office Mgr Sidney call me back. As of today Tuesday, July 2, no one has returned my call & my A/C still isn't working. We lost heat and called Yost for an emergency after hours visit because the temperature was below freezing. Their technician arrived late and told us that the machine was broken. He was able to start it but it emitted too much CO2 to run. We had an unrelated repair done to our roof and asked if it is possible that debris clogged the exhaust, the technician insisted that it was not possible and we need to buy a new one. We spent a few days shopping around and after seeing how expensive heaters are, we called for a second opinion. Asked the new technician the same question about the debris, he took the 10 minutes to pull the exhaust pipe out the wall and there was debris completely blocking the exhaust. They cared more about trying to sell a new boiler than making sure my family had heat in the middle of winter. read more

We paid for service contracts with Yost and Campbell for heat and air for many years and we always had routine annual service done. If there is a problem: THERE IS NO EMERGENCY SERVICE after hours- for heat or air- even though their web site headlines boldly " 24 /7 emergency service." Our furnace had a problem in the winter resulting in flooding -one month after annual service. I called after business hours for emergency service - I never received a return call. I called again during business hours- they had no record of my call. We had our plumber fix it. We scheduled air annual service and asked the technician to do routine maintenance on the water waste line from the handler - as they usually did. He took apart the thermostat for unknown reason and then had difficulty putting it back together. He diagnosed the outdoor unit as having low gas...an hour later, he said he made a mistake. A few weeks later, during 90 degree heat, waste water was leaking from the handler into our house (the handler waste line maintenance was not completed as requested ). I called after hours 11 pm - " you will be called back within an hour." Never got a call back- I called the next morning - no technician available to come for 3 days and I was informed that there is no after hours service. I left a message for a manager to call me ( no manager available at time of my call) . I never received a call back. We hired a DIFFERENT company for both air and heat service contract. We needed an HVAC replacement- furnace, A/C and humidifier. The sales agent made a thorough proposal which, after we changed a few options, was acceptable. The technicians came out and installed everything. We chose Y&C because they were recommended by Con Ed. BIG MISTAKE. We should have known that any energy company that charges an additional 125-150% on top of our energy supply, is not to be trusted. The Aprilaire humidifier has never worked properly. The best we ever got was 33% despite the humidistat setting of 45%. After 2 no-charge trips by technicians to fix it, we hired a local plumber. He reinstalled it per manufacturer specs, but still low humidity. The service manager refused to agree with Aprilaire's technical advisor, so we will be replacing this humidifier soon (with a Skuttle). Review update: just found out that the technicians that came to screw up the AC installation, also broke my hose valve in the backyard. Water won't stop pumping and now I have to incur further repair costs to my living space. This company is the complete opposite of a funny joke. Original review below: Called to have whole central air conditioner system replaced. $5500+ spent When they left, not only did the AC not work, but it actually blew out HOT AIR, EVEN WHEN THE THERMOSTAT WAS SET TO OFF. They told their boss everything was perfect and working. Had to switch off the gas completely to avoid 95+ degree internal temperatures on a SATURDAY NIGHT. Woke up drenched in sweat before realizing what was going on. Are you F***ING KIDDING ME!? An elderly customer could have EASILY DIED from the incompetence. My old oil furnace broke down and Yost & Campbell came and quickly gave me a proposal which was significantly lower than the one I received from the oil company. They found me a furnace and the guys came in a few days. Fortunately it wasn't too cold out but when the heat came on, it was better than before. I recommend getting a bid from them when you have an HVAC issue. read more

Well where do I start .. First i purchase my heating &Cool system about 4 years ago and I paid 9000.00 . Since than they have come to me 7 times because my system wasn't working in the dead winter. MY FAMILY Was in the cold for weeks unitl they came .I had to pay 200.00 every time along with paying other fees . which turned into thousands of dollar . Now my AC doesnt work and I'm in the heat with my children waitING for them to come back to fix the problem . I believe the are scamming people out there money .. Now the part that broke down is under warranty but here the catcher you are responsible for ther cost of the LABOR . WHICH IS 200.00 A HOUR. Avoid this HVAC company.
