I tried to use AMHAC and was totally disappointed. I had literally just agreed to the service contract and some part blew on my boiler. I called the service number and it took days to get a return call. Fortunately, I hadn't paid yet and I chose another company. That company turned out to be awful, so I'm looking for another company, yet again and as I was reviewing Yelp, I saw AMHAC and remembered how annoyed I was. Beware; very disappointing company. They came 3x to try to clean our AC, fix the leak and replace the filter. The guys they sent were so inexperienced! Not only did they failed to fix the leak in our AC, but they didnot know how to open the door to our AC unit and broke our cabinet door! They charged me for the visits and after numerous emails they finally credit me the extra charges! So very disappointing b/c they were recommended by a reputable person b/c this company is good; HOWEVER, they are very expensive and they send very inexperienced workers! I don't like to post negative reviews and only do it if I have been treated poorly. I have them at least 3 chances to make it right! 1, 2 -- OK maybe 1 more chance. But after 3x, strike out. Their manager did not even contact me to try to make it right! VERY disappointing. read more

New condenser installed on 6/9/2020 and noticed AC taking longer to cool and not reaching on room. A phone call was made report the issue . Since the new installation has one year warranty. Expected there would be a better response. The call was reported on 23rd and it took 24 hrs to get a call back from David espino.. David confirmed a technician will be sent to check the issue today on 25th in the afternoon. No one turned up and no update. So imagine a new installation gets this kind of follow up how other service calls would be. read more

Further update to my earlier reviews. Against the odds, given what I reported in my original review, we wound up going with AMHAC. Their bid was competitive and the equipment was what we wanted. Pat was very responsive to our questions throughout the process, and Joe and Eric, who installed the condenser, were friendly and efficient. Our experience with AMHAC and Natalie, who called me right after my original review posted, highlight for us how companies that stand behind their services, and own their mistakes, can turn a negative situation completely around. A five month saga to have mini splits installed and to receive proper billing. Many issues with installation, including installing tubing in front of a door so the door couldn't open more than halfway. They also installed the wrong circuit breaker, which would have prevented the unit from working properly. They didn't insulate at least one of the units properly, so in addition to the thermostats not working until we called them to come fix the issue, we could actually see daylight through a hole in the wall. They didn't program the outside unit so, again, things didn't work properly until they came back out to fix it. They couldn't figure out how to troubleshoot with the manufacturer so made us call the manufacturer for them. They then they repeatedly tried to overcharge us including billing for upgraded hardware they didn't install, refusing to apply ConEd rebates, and several delays in sending bills. They also forgot to register our products with the manufacturer for warranties, then did it incorrectly and almost cost us 2 years of warranty coverage. President of the company didn't care, sales rep didn't care, customer service got nasty with us. Awful service, will never work with again. If they try to refute any of this, there is plenty of documentation including emails with and from the president. To AMHAC, you have responded to other negative reviews by including personal addresses of the reviewers. If you choose to reply to mine, DO NOT include my address as it is irrelevant. read more

Very disappointed. I have used this company for years now, thousands of dollars spent on non-urgent improvements and maintenance. When I discovered a flood under my air handler over the weekend, I called the emergency line 4 times with no call back. I called again several times Monday morning and finally reached someone at 10:30AM. She said they are very busy but will get back to me later. I called again at 2pm and again was told they are very busy but she said she would call me back after she speaks to a scheduler. At 3:15pm, the best they could do was 5pm with extra charges because "after hours" or come the next day. My problem was diagnosed as a clogged condensate drain, which should not get clogged with regular maintenance. My regular maintenance with them was only a few months ago. The real nail in the coffin for me was their audacity to consider charging me extra to come at 5 pm (days after I made my first call to them with no response). Ultimately, I am canceling my service contract with them and will be using a different company for my HVAC needs. read more

Last year we looked at several vendors for a new dual unit replacement AC system and air handler for our home in Scarsdale and went with AMHAC. They were on the upper end of the bids but offered the premium Carrier AC system which was quieter and more efficient for $25K. They came, did the install, nice, courteous, cleaned up well. Within 2 weeks the system was not cooling. They returned, found a coolant leak, refilled the unit and patched the leak with a promise to return and check it. No return visit came but then it was Fall and we did not use the units. Come Spring 2023 and warm weather, we have the units turned on and find there is no coolant in the system. We call. AMHAC team comes and finds another leak, refills the system and says it is covered under warranty. Then they send us a bill for almost $700 to pay for the refrigerant they used to refill the system. We have been calling to argue the charge saying we should not have to pay to refill the system caused by a leak from a faulty install but they are insisting. Needless to say we are going with a different company for our maintenance service. Unbelievable. read more

DO NOT use this company for any AC repairs. They are Predators. . Especially if you are elderly or don't otherwise understand home repairs. Called them when AC stopped blowing cold - they came and said it was probably a small leak in line - I don't even think they went in the attic- the techs were in a rush to leave. Well they then put sealant through the line and said you should be good. Charged $800 DOLLARS !!! Lo and behold that lasted not even the night. Called them back and they came and said oh wow there's a huge hole on the line ! Another $500 DOLLARS !! Why didn't you find that huge hole the first time !!?? And they said they need to come back again at another $500 DOLLARS To fill the line and finalize repairs. You've got to be kidding me almost $2000 for a leak in the line !! DO NOT not use these people they are predators and will rob you blind. CALL SOMEONE ELSE !! read more

This is a follow up review from two days ago. There has been a new development with AMHAC. After the many issues with them, as I described in my original review, an employee named William called me this morning. He told me that they were going to order the part/parts needed for the generator. He quoted a price and said it would arrive in three days. I took this as a sign that they were finally getting their act together. I asked him to call me when the part comes in and we'd set up an appointment for installation. That's how we left off. About twenty minutes later William called me back and told me that Natalie the manager/owner had him call me to let me know that if I don't take down the negative review that he wouldn't order the part. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I asked him to repeat it and he did. He was very matter of fact about it. I told him I will NOT take the review down, and he said "then we will not order the part for the generator." I told him to have Natalie call me herself. Of course, she didn't. She got someone else yet again to do her dirty work. Roger, who claimed to be the service manager called instead. I told him off, and he said he wanted to cut ties, and made it look like nothing was AMHAC's fault. Their attempt to blackmail/threaten me didn't work!!! This is a warning to anyone considering hiring these people. Please don't!! They should NOT be in business!!! I really wish I could have given zero stars!!! To Weinberg F. Met with Pat the project engineer for a quote on a new hvac complete system,heating and central air conditioning units,he gave me a great quote so I gave them the job.I was amazed to see 6 workers and 4 trucks pull up on the day of installation,right on time, with all the new equipment.Each worker had there own specialty and went to work right away removing the old units and installing the new.They have there own sheetmetal shop locally and sent info over phone to fabricate the ductwork needed,they also have a runner that goes to pickup anything that is needed that they dont have in the trucks,this is one heck of professional crew that work together to get the job done! In 8 hours the whole system was completed, tested and cleaned up,all garbage was removed and you would never have known they were here.I highly recommend using AMHAC,for any hvac work that needs to be done!!! read more

Our 1st floor AC was not turning on so we called AMHAC for a non-emergency visit. I had Jorge as our technician and he was great! He was courteous (put on booties when entering my home) and explained what the issue was after climbing through our attic crawl space to get to the air handlers. Being home with my two kids, I really felt he was honest and friendly. I didn't know we needed to get the A/C system blown out at the end of the summer, and that was the cause of it not working this spring. Thanks to Jorge, now I can better maintain the system. 4 stars instead of 5 because although I'm not sure how similar pricing is across HVAC companies, I thought it was pricey for less than a 1 hour visit. read more

I have done business with AMHAC for over 30 years, servicing and/or replacing heat, air conditioning and hot water heating units in my home. I have alway found them to be responsive and capable of getting any repairs done in a timely manner. Their customer service people are so courteous, sometimes calling multiple times a day to keep me informed of the repair schedule or to follow up after any repair has been completed to make sure everything is satisfactory and working properly. Their repair technicians are prompt and knowledgeable and in every instance got me back up and working as fast as possible. Even if parts are needed, they try to do a work around to keep units running while parts are being shipped. This family owned local business gets a high recommendation from me. read more

Contrary to some of the reviews on Yelp, I had nothing short of an extraordinaire experience. I did my homework, and shopped around fetching 3 quotes in total. AMHAC delivered me the best bang for the buck, and did everything they promised to do and more. Pat the engineer visited the job site almost everyday to ensure the installation was going smoothly...excellent quality control! When we encountered some problems, they came up with alternative solutions without charging me any extra. I could not have been more pleased. Unlike other work crews, they really know how to tidy up after a days work, and any mess created disappeared before each day was done. My home now cools, and heats properly unlike before. These guys certainly know their stuff, and even if they are a bit expensive like some others claim on here, you certainly pay for what you get, and that's quality, and experience knowing the job will be done right the first time. Had an emergency when ConEd shut off our gas without warning. It turned out we had multiple gas leaks and called AMHAC. They came immediately and did an incredible job finding and repairing all of the leaks. Special shout outs to Desmond, Elvis and Demetrius for being courteous and efficient. Today was our scheduled spring checkup visit for the two heating/air conditioning units in our house. As promised, Luis, the AMHAC technician, called me to let me know he was 15 minutes away. Although we were scheduled in the 1:00 to 5:00 pm slot, he arrived early at 12:30 which was a pleasant surprise. He was courteous, polite and was protected with a mask and gloves to adhere to safe protocols for the corona virus. Luis was very professional with his work, which is what we have become used to with any visit from a representative of AMHAC. We are long time customers and value the excellent service we receive both from technicians' visits and from Lauren and the customer service staff, who are always very friendly and helpful. We were pleased with the results, so we chose them again for a retrofit of whole-house humidifiers into our existing multi-zone system. Tony confirmed the appointment by phone and arrived on time. he was able to review the situation with my heating system and pinpoint the issues, which were resolved quickly and - fortunately - at a reasonable cost. Tony was professional and I appreciated that he came equipped with all tools and parts necessary to complete the job. He also laid out some suggestions for the A/C System and the overall heating and hot water systems in my house. He was patient and answered all of my questions. It's a rip off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In late February, our tenant complained the master bedroom heating system stopped working properly, so we hired AMHAC fix the problem and paid $595.55 which includes $250/hour on diagnostic service, $31 on refrigerant R22, $22 on filter, and $243.75 on labor for 1.3 hours work. However, after AMHAC's visit, on 3/3/15, my tenant complained again that the heating is still blowing hot and cold air, so we had the technician come back to take a look for the second time. We received a second bill of $476.22 which includes $111 for thermistor, $375 for 2 hours labor. However, the next day, my tenant let me know the heating system is still blowing the cold and hot air and she couldn't get anyone to speak to her after she called the company many times. Finally, AMHAC sent the technician their 3rd time and figured the refrigerant was leaking and we need to buy a new chassis, and they give us a quote of the chassis for $7,000 plus labor which is unknown hours. My tenant and us were very upset and disappointed at AMHAC's incompetent service, we don't believe they have delivered the service, so I tried to dispute the second invoice of $476.22. At the same time, I hired another contractor to take a look of the heating system, and he could figure out it was leaking after 15 -20 minutes investigation on the machine. Also I contacted the factory of the same model, the factory sent me to their NYC dealer to purchase the chassis, the actual cost of the chassis is only $3500 after tax which is 50% of the price AMHAC quoted for us. Today the service department of AMHAC called and I spoke with a lady whose name is Natalie, she insisted we couldn't dispute the bill and she will incur finance charge and send the bill to the collection agency if we don't pay immediately. Also she said if we continue using their service to do the replacement work, they will consider giving us discount on the second bill. I said I have already bought the chassis for $3500, then she immediately changed the tone by saying they only install the machine purchased by them. I guess they have to make the 100% mark up on buying the machine. We couldn't believe AMHAC not only didn't deliver the service but also being unfair on insisting us to pay the bill we don't believe we owe. read more

Rip off!!!!!..... Please do your research and read customer experiences! My husband unfortunately did not and AMHAC sent a repair man to investigate our HVAC unit which would not turn on. After two and a half hours taking the unit apart, the repair man concluded he could not repair it without a new switch board. He charged my husband $220 for the visit and said he'd follow up with estimates to either order a new switchboard or replace the unit altogether. A day later AMHAC call back and inform my husband they do not repair or replace our particular unit. Are you joking!!!! They couldn't figure that out before pulling the entire unit apart? Why is their name All Makes Heating and Air if they don't actually repair All Makes but don't know until they take them apart. I just had the furnace maintenance done. The AMHAC folks were timely, professional and courteous. After going out to three vendors, we chose Amhac to for the conversion from oil to gas and to replace our entire heating, hot water and AC mechanicals. They had a very competitive price, did a great job and handled everything with ConEd (who was a nightmare and totally unresponsive). They were professional, explained everything that was going on, cleaned up every time they came to the house. When we had few minor issues with the system post installation, they were timely in coming to house and correcting the item or making changes. We even had a bad condenser (not Amhac's fault) that was discovered a year later, Carrier was being difficult on honoring their warrantee and Amhac stepped in, got us a brand new AC unit and fought the company on there own. I couldn't be happier and highly recommend there services. read more

It's the coldest day of the year, plus the beginning of a holiday week. The came...the guy fixed my heating unit. My installing company wasn't answering my calls because they said they were way out in Long Island where there wasn't good service where they were working. I'll choose to accept that excuse, but am grateful to Amhac for coming and fixing the problem. The guy was polite, too...I didn't get hois name and I tipped him really cheaply...was broke today... feel pretty badly about that...such a nice guy and this was the coldest day in many years... a bad day for this to happen, but he said it was because the filter was clogged up and the unit was straining due to the freeze. I'm trying to make up for not really tipping this guy when he really saved me today...Yay! No frozen pipes! read more

These guys had a very nice marketing story and that's about it. They kept charging fees every step of the way and wanted us to sign up for their "Gold plan". This was ridiculous given we have a house that is less than 2 years old with brand new, state of the art machinery. They installed some new parts because they thought that would make things better. Except, those "new" parts broke down in less than a year! And they charged us more money to come and fix this. Even though we were under their plan and the parts were still under the warranty period. Very disappointed with this company and if possible, I will avoid them in the future. read more
