This review is for the newly-opened Westfield branch of YouMeSushi, which is a tiny little outlet on the first floor, on the East side of the Atrium adjacent to (and somewhat dwarfed by) Pret A Manger.
The branch of YouMeSushi in Marylebone has developed quite a reputation - at least with me and my friends - of making really decent, fresh and yummy-tasting sushi for a reasonable price. Their sushi boxes take the standard form of plastic bases with clear plastic lids, plastic fake grass enclosing just enough wasabi to mix into the small plastic pot of soy. However they do it so well, the ginger tastes great and the sushi is presented absolutely beautifully.
The new branch has literally the tiniest seating area, say 10-12 seats, but they also have a counter where the food is quite visible to passers-by, therefore I hope they do very well. The food preparation area is so tiny I wonder how they can make anything there.
Although it's almost overlooking the Atrium, it is mercifully a rather quiet place to sit for an hour or so compared with every other square foot in Westfield, and so I can see myself going back there regularly.
And of course, they make far better food than the conveyor belt rubbish they pump out at Yo just opposite.
And who wouldn't want to support a small, expanding business?

A note about delivery woes
Having discovered YouMeSushi in Marylebone by driving past it when it first opened, I was so excited to see they had a delivery service, and I called my first order through only to be telephoned back minutes later saying they could not deliver. I was most disappointed given how much I liked this place. The next time I called up, they did deliver to me as a 'trial', however they said it was just outside the border of their delivery zone - and that was the last time they ever delivered. (Since then I have driven there myself to eat-in on Sunday nights.)
Imagine my excitement, then, when I heard of a branch opening just around the corner from where I live in London W12.
Sadly, however, the staff at this branch explain they don't deliver!
So back online, it seems they have a new website. I put my postcode in to see if they deliver, and a big friendly message comes back saying "YES WE CAN"! I then proceed to attempt to order ... and ... error. "The postcode you have provided does not fall within the delivery zone of the shop."
Really, I usually dislike deliveries. But in me, YouMeSushi has a captive audience who just wants to order from them! Why is it so difficult! read more
