I made sure to still tip as if it was a more expensive massage, since it is still an hour of manual work for them. (I paid and tipped in cash, I believe my friend used either Zelle or Venmo). This used to be my go-to spot, but honestly it's not the same anymore. They don't seem to have experienced masseuses now. I had to ask for a different masseuse because instead of actually massaging, the first one was just shaking me. Unfortunately, the second one wasn't much better--she kept digging her elbow into me. Enjoyed my visit here! Scheduled a couples massage (deep tissue) for 90 min plus 20 min foot rub. The staff - they were accommodating. We were about 20 minutes late, they accommodated without making us feel bad. It was my fault because we ended up at the wrong spa, so it took us awhile to walk here. Also, I also asked for (1) female staff once we saw we were assigned two male staff, and they were accommodating, polite and professional. The wait for the (1) female staff was very short (under 5 minutes). The massage - Frank was very professional and polite and throughout the 90 minutes, he was sure to check if everything was ok. Frank had the perfect pressure for deep tissue - it was so needed! I am certainly sore today (as expected and needed)! My boyfriend had Jenny as his masseuse and he was very pleased with the pressure! The premises - everything was clean and light. The massage rooms were along a main hallway, so at times the staff was loud in their footsteps, preparing for other guests and talking to each other. My masseuse Frank had to "shhhh" them. In addition, you can hear other guests at the main check-in, but the massage was so good I just tuned it out. Perhaps the staff can turn the volume slightly higher for the spa music or remind other staff and guests to keep their footsteps and volume down. Easy check-out - paid by cash. Reasonably priced! The massage was very pleasant and as we finished up, I noticed they didn't do the cupping. My masseuse did not speak English well but upon calling the manager, they were able to do the cupping. It's part of their advertised special, so I'm not sure where the confusion is. After the massage, they gave us a juice box. I had a similar experience here as another reviewer, only I am a woman and it was a woman masseuse who violated me. We had been here a couple times before and had good experiences, but the last time was the absolute last. The female masseuse kept trying to massage and grope my breasts including on and over the nipples (even pulled the towel off one time!) and I multiple times was like wtf are you doing and the last time yelled at her which it then stopped. It was shocking and I felt paralyzed of what to do in the situation (it was towards the end of the massage). I have gotten tons of massages all over NYC at similar type of establishments and NEVER has anything like this ever happened to me before. To the manager replying doubting the other reviewer's experience, you are not at all putting yourself in a woman's position. The client is mostly naked and very vulnerable on the table, and it is a humiliating experience. And of course to say something with the person right there and in front of others at the front desk is horrifying. Like the other reviewer, we just chose to never come back. They likely tipped to avoid confrontation because they were just violated and wanted to get out of there. Basically gaslighting the reviewer is horrible, and reading your response prompted me to share my own awful experience. Shame on you. read more

Made an appointment mid day. Arrived early for my 90 minute message. I find one hour isn't enough and given the price it was worth it. Lucy did a good job. I could have used less fist pounding though, like they do in nail salons when you get your ten second massage. I don't find that helpful. There was a lot of that all over and I felt it was less technique and more filling time. Other than that I'll return and try someone else. They do talk to each other while your getting your massage. But, you get what you pay for and maybe if you get the right masseuse it's all worth it. There's background music and water sounds which is nice. Enjoy! read more

They exactly wrote down the same experience as me. Worst massage I've ever had. I was around this area, had a 30mins foot reflex + 30mins back massage and hot stone. They didn't do cupping. Barely speaks English, which was hard to communicate. My body concern is shoulder and neck, I don't have back pain at all, but now I have serious back pain bc of bad massage. They just put a lot of power and pressure on my body with full of body weight and push into elbows on my back. I've still having body pain on my back after few days, and writing this review to warn everyone. My spine and backbone has been hurting so bad. They are def don't know what's they are doing. Don't know about human body, you might hurt your body. Seriously I have to go to physical therapy and acupuncture to fix my back. I really worry about this back body pain. That pain getting worse and I feel very uncomfortable. Just don't go. Protect your money, time and yourself. read more

I really wanted to like it because its near my home and looked clean. However, it turned out to be one of the worst massages I have received. First of all, I think he was sick because he wouldn't blow his nose and was sniffling during the whole session. Second, he had no idea what he was doing. He was either brand new with no training or had to fill in for someone because he was completely all over the place. For half an hour he was just pressing on me through the towel. During the actual massage, he was pressing on sensitive areas like my spine that hurt or tickled. He also didn't have a method, one second he would be massaging my right calf, then all the sudden my shoulders. It was very sporadic and random. There was also a moment where it just felt like he was spreading oil on my body. I also got no massage on my feet nor the hot stones. He also completely lost track of time, when he heard the massage next to me wrapping up (the pat down) he rushed to wipe the oil off me, threw the towel on top of me, and started patting me too. I'm sure there are better masseuse there, and I just got a bad one. (He's a young slender guy that might have glasses). But when I went to pay and told the front desk person that it wasn't good, he just shrugged it off and didn't care. Horrible customer service. read more

I would honestly say it is a hit or miss spot. You would think they know me by now since I do come often but their customer service isn't that well. Some co-workers and myself found this place last year. We work at the US Open tennis every and our feet are usually always sore due to all the standing and walking. Is the past we would go get pedicures for the massage. But last year we walked by this place and it looked clean inside. They had a sign outside saying 30min foot massage for $25. So we said let's do it. And it was amazing. We told every working with us. Two days later there's a line and wait list. Lol everyone was going there. So This we had to come back and the service was still amazing! And the place is still super clean. Now they have 30min foot with 30min back for $45!! I did that and it basically turned into a full body massage and because I paid with card it was $49. But that's still a great price. You can even add cupping or hot stone for free! This review is long overdue!! I have gotten massages for decades, but never more than 4-5 a year. I discovered Young Health nearly a year ago. Since then, I have been averaging 2 massages per week. All with Gavin! I will not speak as to the others, since I won't go to anyone else. Their prices are terrific. Kevin at the front desk will bend over backwards to accommodate. I have always loved Astoria, and am thrilled that Young Health is in the neighborhood! They have helped me to get through the most difficult year of my life. I have read the other reviews and let me say a few things.... the $25 special is for neck/foot and it clearly says that on the board out front. And yes, cupping is included, but you must request it. Much of the noise is beyond the control of the spa. Steinway is SUPER busy during the day. And the talking? Yes, it can be distracting. I have a noise sensitivity. If you do as well, carry some earplugs with you. (It's infinitely quieter in the evening) The biggest thing to understand is that most of them (other than the front desk) speak limited English. It's simple communication. Walk through the door and be very specific about what you want. Most days I want super deep tissue and they know that. But if there is a day that I don't want it, I let them know to go softer or point out places that are particularly bothersome that day. Regardless of who does your massage... if you like them, find out their name and call in advance to book. If they are great like Gavin, they may not be available if you pop in!! If you do go and like it.... be sure to do the $50 membership. It gives you 20% off of the non-discounted prices on each visit. (the $25 neck/foot isn't included) If you go with the punch card, you get a free massage after 10 visits. Last night I did 2 hours. Right there I saved over $20. After my massage yesterday, I experienced physical pain in my lower and upper back, neck, along with my calves. I had an appointment for an hour body massage at 2:30 pm, I got there early, and was taken in right away. During my massage, I told the masseuse three times to provide lighter pressure and at least twice, I told her that the pressure was too hard. I'm not sure if there was a language barrier, although that's not an excuse. She did not speak to me before or during the massage. Either the masseuse did not understand or she did not care, she continued to provide heavy pressure. I don't know what "techniques" were used as I primarily felt her elbow digging into my shoulders and back. I'm still experiencing physical pain today and had to check if there were any bruises on my back. My only regret: I should have stopped the massage, got dressed, and left. I should not have felt obligated to tip after they asked for a tip. It was an uncomfortable situation -- the front desk did not ask how my massage went, simply asked me to pay, and the masseuse stood there, watching me. I avoided a confrontation, but wish I was brave enough to complain then. I would not go back. read more

I honestly have to leave a bad review. I've been to this in the past and today was my worse experience. They sat me in the front chairs to do foot massage first which I felt was so backwards. then sent me to the room rushed me to undress , rushed my whole massage didn't even tell me to turn around and just did my back for no longer than 15 mins. I paid for a whole one hour massage they used hot stones for no longer than 30 seconds. the masseuse basically rushed my whole massage told me he was done before he even did the cupping and when I mentioned it he rushed the whole cupping process as well. I was eager to try this place since I usually head to the city and get my foot massages at Shun Fa. I saw this place and since I live in the area I thought I'd try it out. They advertise a 45 minute foot rub for $25. My normal place is an hour for $25, but I still thought to try it out. I walked in on a Monday and it was quiet. The guy behind the counter was friendly and got a gentleman to do my foot massage. They don't tell you this, but they start with a 10 minute shoulder massage. That's fine with me but they should advertise it like that because clearly that takes away from the foot massage, which is what I was looking for since my feet have been killing me. The guy who did my massage was decent but I had to ask for him to apply more pressure since it was extremely light massage strokes. I am used to foot reflexology and this place definitely is not the place where you receive that. I hate to say because the people seem nice but this isn't a serious massage place if you need reflexology. Even after I asked for deeper pressure, it was light. There was no rhyme or reason to the moves done on my feet. It felt like someone rubbing lotion up and down, that's it. It got none of my aches out and my foot is simply just hydrated with the same pain in my feet and ankles. I was really hoping this would be my new go to foot massage place but I will not be back. Perhaps their back massages are better, but do not waste your time with the foot massage and be aware of the dulled down time due to their process (shoulders and 30 minutes feet). **Update The owner claims the shoulder rub is advertised on their sign outside, however it is not. I came here for a 60 minute back massage after reading other reviews on Yelp to give it a try. I've been experiencing pain on the right side of my upper back/shoulder blade/neck area and wanted to book a great massage to help relieve this. I walked in and they brought me to the room right away. It was my first time here so I was surprised when I didn't have to fill anything out and I wasn't asked if there are areas of the body that are tense/experiencing pain etc. The woman who came into my room didn't ask me so I told her I was in pain and wanted her to focus on that area. She laughed and continued to just push on my body/back which wasn't helping anything. I was in so much pain I started crying on the table. She went to get a guy from the front who asked if I was ok and I told him no I wasn't, I'm in pain which was why I was here. He just said ok and left. The massage was terrible. I asked her 4 or 5 times if she could focus on that area, either she didn't understand or she laughed and chose to ignore me. Too much pounding which doesn't feel good and does nothing. When she went to put a hot towel on my upper back at the end, it was so hot it burned me. This was an awful experience and I won't be returning. read more

I've been going to Young Health for the last few months and it's become my go-to place for relaxation. I've worked with a number of masseuses for either a foot massage or full body work. All of them work so hard and deserve a generous tip. The location itself is nice and clean and the staff do a great job maintaining it. The only downside is that you can hear everything and it isn't the most quiet place for a massage, but if you're okay with some mild, intermittent background noise then this shouldn't be much of a problem. read more

This place is AWFUL!!! my partner - female went to get a massage from them and the man who was massaging her put her hands and feet on his crotch multiple times. she was very distraught when she came home and told me. i called them to complain and the man who answered didn't believe us, instead said "but she didn't complain when she was here" what was she supposed to do? she felt uncomfortable and violated. the man also walked her out to the front and was there the entire time she paid. i think this is extremely concerning and also disgusting we were met with the terrible behavior on the phone as well. i would NEVER go here if i were you! they should be closed down for the way they don't care. read more

i am telling you folks you can find almost everything in astoria from food , drinks, clubs, shopping , sports , etc and places that pamper your feet , neck. back with amazing results. my cuz told me about young health spa on steinway with a 45 discount deal with 30 minutes devoted to your feet and 30 minutes devoted to your back and neck. place is spacious and clean with state of the art equipment from the comfortable chairs to the message laying tables. i went with the 45 dollar deal and i will be honest, as i fell asleep in total bliss as the soft spoken lady was gentle but firm on my feet and back. the place has a calming relaxing feel which may explain why i took a much needed nap. i am coming back next month as i tend to be on my feet most of the working day and my posture is not the best when sitting or standing. i would recommend young health spa without a doubt , your feet and neck will thank you. read more
