Impeccable service and COVID precautions! Friendliest service i've ever gotten from a asian massage parlor. The manager is very patient on the phone. Place is somewhat hidden. Small staircase next to cvs, located on the second floor. Upon entering, he'll spay you down with disinfectant. You can small how clean the whole place is. They eveb disinfect their hands before massage which I really appreciate. And even provided me with a new mask. After massage was given a bottle of water. I asked for a male massuer and the massage was strong. Price is $42 but there's a minimum required tip for $15. I would say, it is still very reasonable at $55. Do. Not. Come. Here. My husband and I have been coming here for years. Michelle, who everyone mentions, was the best. When she owned it, the masseuses were the best and so it was great value. She was pregnant so we thought that someone was temporarily sitting in for her, but we realize now, over the last year, there has been a change in management and it has gone significantly downhill. The last time we came in, I had a female masseuse, and suddenly there was a switcheroo and a make came in (he now runs the front desk) and started very aggressively rubbing my back (not pressure but speed.) Then, he started stretching my shoulders behind my arm and put so much pressure on stretching it, he actually injured my shoulder. My husband was furious and we didn't go back for a long time. Until, yesterday. My husband called ahead of time, asking again for 2 women. The guy on the phone confirmed, two women, no problem. We get there, order a 90 min massage, and that's when it went awry. The two women started talking about us, or bodies, etc etc, in Chinese, without even knowing i understand Chinese (I'm half.) And, I'm not talking pleasantries or "I wonder how long they've been married" or "what do you think they do for work." I mean, "god she's so tall, this is going to be so annoying to massage her. I'm gonna be so tired. I'll just use one hand." There was more, as I'm sure you can imagine, and I'm sure you can ALSO imagine what someone would say about you if they didn't think you understood. After a while (and mind you, I was steaming mad at this point), they stop gossiping and I'm somewhat able to relax...until...I'm very aggressively massaged. It only feels like someone is trying to pull ligaments out of my neck with their pinching technique and then the masseuse leans down and says "feel okay?" SURPRISE SURPRISE. The front desk man took over. Once my husband heard this, he said "do you want to stop?" When we left, I spoke to the group in Chinese and told them I heard everything that they said. My husband told them that he couldn't believe they switched when he confirmed 2 females on the phone. He tried to offer us a buy 1 get 1 free card and we declined and walked out. The front desk guy texted him later to apologized and offered a free 30 min massage because he's sorry his English isn't good and he didn't "understand." All lies. He repeated. He gave. He switched. Don't come here. I'm 100% certain no one is qualified/has the proper papers to actually be a masseuse, unlike when Michelle was running it. read more

First cupping in the books! I was recommended to Song Body Zhen Spa by many people at my gym. They have done cupping/ massages and deep tissue massages. So I just had to go to see what it was all about! The first time I went I did an hour foot reflexology and it was fantastic. The lady who worked on me was super sweet too. While I was paying, I knew I wanted to come back and made a back massage + cupping appointment. Their space is dark, quiet, super relaxing with soothing music and small. They have single rooms and one room for two. Clean too! Being it was my first time doing cupping, I was a bit nervous. The lady was so friendly and showed me photos of her cupping and explained it more to me and what the dark circles mean. I really liked that before working on me, he asked if this was my first time and let me know there is nothing to worry about. They both made me feel really comfortable. We used to be regulars here and thought it was a great find. There must have been a change in management because the staff has changed with a dramatic decline in service. The factors that have led us to the conclusion will will not come back are: 1) Masseuse being "swapped out" midway through the massage -- We had requested female masseuses the last time we went because of a negative previous experience with the only male (who appears to be the manager), which was honored at the beginning but somehow the male got swapped in with my wife midway through the massage. 2) Rude masseuses who speak about clients because they don't think we can understand them. Under the previous management, the staff might get called away to the front desk to answer the phone midway through the massage, but it was offset by being the staff being polite and respecting clients. Under the new management there is no longer anything redeeming at best and the staff are offensive at worse. Do yourself a favor and find another business. read more

I really don't like rating massage places because it's very tough. There is never consistency and ones experience is dependent on the masseuse not the place. My girlfriend and I went in and got a couples massage. Hers was awesome. Mines was terrible. This lady had no concept of chill. She only had 1 option and it was pain. Painful is good when you know what your doing. But this lady was a mess. I'm talking her full body wait on her elbow directly on my spine. I had to whip around and give her a death stare because of the language barrier. She continued and just kept doing the same thing but in different areas. At 1 point she was working on my legs I had to pull my leg away from her. This crazy lady grabs my leg and holds on tighter so she could keep pressing hard. I was about 2 seconds from handing her my best Ryu (tek tek tan tāe) kick! I think she got it and ended the session. I get up and my girl has a smile ear to ear. I knew her massage was great. That's kind of how it is though. It's the luck of the draw. So for me it's a 2 star review. For her it's a 5 star review. But it's my page so 2 stars it is. Groupon review for a full body massage Came by on a Sunday early afternoon to use 1 of 2 oriental full body massages. FYI the place is small so you don't have the privacy of your own, enclosed room. There are different rooms divided up but only have curtains as the "door" so you can easily hear other customers talking outside. Pros: - Masseuse, Lucy, was very strong and seemed knowledgeable about pressure points. She did arms, legs, full/lower back, and butt. - This was a FULL and very intense hour massage. They make sure you're getting your full hour and don't try to skim you out on time. Cons: - Location was difficult to find (yelpers, look for this small door next to the CVS) - I wish they would preface what kind of massage, and what areas, they would be doing. An overview would be nice, and when moving to different areas of the body, just a brief "hey, I'll be moving to the legs" would be good. Also, asking how much pressure or any sensitivities goes a long way. Guys, tip generously if your experience was good. The masseuses work really hard and deserve to be compensated. I found this place on Yelp and decided to call and book an appointment for my girlfriend and I because of all of their good reviews. At first it was a little bit difficult to find, but once we got there we were greeted immediately and taken into the room for our massages. But after my wonderful first experience, I can see the service is worth even the full low price. $38 for an hour body massage. The even do foot reflexology, $28 for an hour. I made note to try it on my next visit. My masseuse used strong even pressure, and good technique. I found the entrance via the address on the door, but didn't see any signage from the street, which I may have missed. Upon entering the glass door, I ascended up the staircase to the second floor until I found their suite door number which had a sign for the business afixed to it. Each massage room has a curtained doorway, with walls on 3 sides - traditional of these no-frills massage places. Simple decor, low light. The receptionist was sweet and amiable. After the massage, I was given a bottle of water as well to rehydrate. I appreciate the 10-punch card for my future visits where you can get the 11th for free. I wandered into another suite accidentally. I paid 45$ for a one hour oriental massage through a Groupon deal. The masseuse was very good however, it was painful at times around my upper back but everything else was great. Some staff are really great at what they do but some just doesn't know what they're doing. *I really got offended by the fact that they keep chatting while giving us massages and their staffs were in-and-out of the room while we're lying in the table naked also not bothering to close the curtains, our body is exposed to whoever comes in or walk by. *They don't have an assistant, most of the time the masseuse/masseur would be gone whenever there's a new customer or if a customer will pay or they have to answer a phone. I've been to this place a few times and every time I leave feeling completely relaxed. I usually go for the hot stone cupping massage or the full body work with 30-minutes foot rub and even though I always get a different masseuse they are all consistently good and very sweet. My favorite so far is Lisa, she really knows what she's doing! It's very easy to get an appointment even if it's for the same day and usually you don't have to wait once you arrive. The only reason why I'm not giving 5 starts is because the place is small and you can hear people walking in and out and the front desk person talking on the phone. However, they really make an effort to keep conversations short and low. An easy fix is listening to relaxing music with your headphones. The place is a no frills establishment which is justified given the prices of the massages. We took them up on the couples 60 min bodyworks massage for 65 bucks. You really can't beat that! We were escorted to the room in the back. It was actually pretty small for a massage for 2 I was wondering how two massage therapists were going to navigate in the room. Nonetheless, The massage started and all was going well. Now just a heads up they don't use any kind of fancy oils. It's baby oil. So if you're allergic please pick another place! I was really looking forward to this massage and saw great reviews but I was pretty disappointed. Most of the massage wasn't hard enough. It was basically like just getting my skin rubbed down with oil. They do include a mink scalp massage which was nice! It felt a great. They don't use oil for this part so your hair isn't a greasy mess after. The place is clean and after the massage is over, hey give you a full sized bottle of water. I would be prepared to pay cash or you I will be charged 5% tax. Overall, I left feeling underwhelmed and not like I just received a massage at all. Lily has the hands of a goddess. I have been to 13 countries, and make it a point to get a massage in every country and she has been the best thus far ! While her English was limited I showed her an X-ray of my scoliosis and problem areas and she left me feeling like a brand new person. (And I get massages quite frequently) She targeted the areas that needed extra work with the right amount of pressure. The oil and hot stone massage just topped it off. While the walls are thin and the doors are substituted with curtains, hearing other patrons coming in and out can take away from the relaxing atmosphere, I suggest you bring headphones and listen to your own music to tune everything out. The massage started off very good. Michelle who began my masseuse was very good at communicating with me about pressure and what areas I wanted her to focus on (i.e - lower back, neck, etc). The massage itself was very good and she asked a lot of questions in the beginning to make sure she knew what kind of massage you wanted. The cons: Very noisy. It's in an office building so there is a lot of ambient noise. Additionally, my room was near the door and it was quite loud every time it opened. I also must of been near the bathroom bc I was able to hear it flush a few times. Lastly, there were 2 customers sitting in the waiting room (which is actually just a bench right outside my room) and playing videos on their phones which were quite loud and I had to ask the masseuse to go outside and ask them to lower the volume. During the massage Michelle stepped out multiple time (at least 6) to answer the phone or get the door as new customers arrived. So this was a little annoying. Then during the last 20 minutes Michelle stepped out and another masseuse finished my massage. Michelle told her to focus on my lower back and give me an extra 10 mins. None of which she did and despite me saying I wanted more pressure the massage was too soft and felt like someone was simply rubbing me down with oil. When my massage was complete and Michelle asked how everything was I mentioned it was a bit short (the massage was exactly 1 hr including all the times she stepped out). She did apologize and said that they were down a front desk person today and asked if I wanted an extra 10 mins but at this point I was already dressed. She gave me a card and told me if I come back she will add an extra 10 mins to my next massage. She also provided me with a water bottle as I was leaving which was nice. Overall it wasn't the best massage experience but Michelle was so great and apologetic that I think I will give them a second chance as long as Michelle is my masseuse for the FULL hour. read more

Consistency is important for me: I go to massage parlors to relax or get knots worked out, not to be a pinata. They are located on the second floor, on top of the CVS. No need to knock on the door when you find the venue but do lower your voice once you are inside since the place is small and has no noise isolation measures. Decor and the tables are very basic yet very clean. Making an appointment is highly recommended. Songs Body Zen offers a couple of good deals on repeating visits that are worth inquiring about. I have purchased 6 sessions (of 1 hr) for the price of 5, which for me is an excellent offer. Specially when my husband has an innate ability to fall asleep within 5 minutes of hitting the bed, leaving me zero chance to ask him to rub my shoulders or legs. I really like the manager (owner?), she is classy and runs the business well. Never pushy and welcomes general feedback. She is also a masseuse and I would say that she is probably one of the best ones. Regarding tips: Please do tip at least 20% on the full price if you are satisfied with service. None of the inappropriate touching I describe below had ever happened before this recent experience with Alan.  While massaging my back Alan climbed on top of table, straddled my back with his knees, and put both knees in the middle of my back, repeatedly sliding down the sides which ended with his butt and genital area on my back.  While massaging my hands he sat down on a stool and placed my hand in his lap during which I felt his genitals and inner thigh. While massaging my upper arms he touched my breasts from the side multiple times. While massaging my butt he pulled my panties down and repeatedly touched the inside of my butt crack.  Toward the end of the back massage, with a towel over my back and butt, he repeatedly pushed upward with his fists on the area of my anus.  He repeatedly touched my labia while massaging my thighs. While I was on my back he massaged my breasts. Then he began running his hands down my belly, touching my pubic area. read more

I usually go to Golden Hands on 30th Ave. I lift weights regularly and had injured my back earlier in the week. It started to spasm so I went to Golden Hands but found they had closed for construction. It was 9pm on a Saturday and I was distraught because I was in pain and it's my go-to place. It's cheap and more importantly, right at the end of my block. I wasn't sure where else to go. Luckily Yelp came to the rescue. I did a quick search and found this place. I called and luckily they were still open. I told the woman who answered the phone that I had injured my back and was in desperate need of a massage. I arrived 10 minutes later and the woman at the desk said they would help me feel better. The woman who did my massage was great (didn't catch her name, but she was older than the other two young ladies). After brief difficulty communicating that I needed a pillow for under my ankles, she got right to business. I told her where I was hurting and she found the knots right away. An hour later, I felt so much better. When I was checking out, the woman at the front desk (I'm assuming she's the owner) remembered my name and asked if I was feeling better. I told her I usually go to Golden Hands, but they closed and I found good reviews of her place on Yelp. She was very kind and thanked me for coming. She gave me a coupon for a discount each time I come in. My 60 minute massage was $38, which is ridiculously cheap. I tipped over 30% because they were so friendly, my massage was super effective, the space was clean, and they work hard. I highly recommend Song's and plan to come back regularly! Wow! Wonderful massage, service and amicable people. Laura is a wonderful person and now she has Samaya as her help who is quite good also for making reservations and the services I want. I have been going there for three or so years and never been disappointed. I have tried diff masseuses at diff times there and have liked almost all of them. I make appointments and never been turned down. I explain to them what I want before starting the massage and they follow it, diligently. Note: I was seen last minute no problem today. While the owners are kind, and the value is great theoretically you're only saving about 5-6 dollars compared to the string of other massage parlors in Manhattan and Steinway (38 for an 1 hr, 45 for 90 minutes), I find that this place is very inconsistent. Almost everyone barely speaks any English and as an Asian American I try to be sympathetic. I was halfway through my punchcard but I don't see myself returning upon this last experience. Often times the workers don't understand you to the point that even if you say harder you feel no change. I just left in the middle of my massage today because I didn't see the point of laying there feeling no different, frustrated, and wasting my money. I had suggested after multiple requests for pressure change that the owners translate all client needs prior to the massage even beginning. Before throwing in the towel today, I also had another similar experience to my last masseuse prior, she forgot to do 30 min foot even when I had reminded her. If saving a few dollars is extremely important, I suggest trying other spots in Astoria where it's masseuses are consistent and your needs are understood. read more
