I have worked with Young's for 45 years. They have always been excellent in the service whether is was flooring, blinds or carpeting.

We contracted with Young's Carpet One to remove some old hardwood in our kitchen and dining area, linoleum in the hall and guest bathroom, and white carpet in the living room. After removal they were to replace everything with laminate flooring and new baseboards. The contract was signed on 07/03/25 with a substantial deposit remitted. The work was to begin on 08/02/25 but was cancelled (reason unknown) and rescheduled for 08/11/25. That date was cancelled due to issues with the material that was ordered. It was then rescheduled for 08/18/25 however the installer did not complete his prior job so our install was delayed until 08/19/25. The installers arrived the morning of 08/19 (Tuesday), completed the tear down in a couple of days and began installation of the new material. The whole job was completed the following Monday...or so we thought. The floor was beautiful and the way the planks were laid out was how we wanted. Imagine our disappointment when we found out it all had to be removed and reinstalled. As it turned out, the installation was completed WITHOUT any underlayment (padding/moisture barrier). This was brought to the saleslady's attention when we went in to make our final payment. When asked about the underlayment she indicated that she would check with the installer and get back to us. As it turned out the flooring DID require an underlayment and it was not done so the floor had to be removed and reinstalled correctly. This was scheduled for 09/16/25 and completed in two days. While we are disappointed in this major oversight and surprised that it happened given the great reviews Young's Carpet One has, we are satisfied with the final product. We are also glad that both the salesperson and the installation team took ownership of the problem and fixed it. However as we still have more flooring work to do in the future, I do not think I would go back to Young's Carpet One. read more

The team at Young's provided our family with over the top all around service to install our laminate flooring throughout our house. Brittany worked with us from the initial consultation, the entire order to the best way to protect the flooring, and answered all our questions along the way. As we were prepping the floor ourselves, Morgan had stopped by a few times to ensure that the sub-floor was ready. And, Nick did an outstanding job on the installation - really took great care as if it was his own house. As with any project, there were some unforeseen bumps where the entire team made us feel at ease, and with patience, helped us work through this delay. I would highly recommend Brittany and her team. Young's did a fantastic job on our epic, whole-house installation of hardwood and vinyl. We had a 3-week window for installation before we moved in, and Chuck worked hard to fit us into the schedule so it would be done before the moving truck arrived. Because we were still living 400 miles away at the time, he also helped us find a painter for the new baseboards we needed to buy when the originals proved to be too old to reinstall. Unforseen issues with the vinyl product caused that part of the installation to drag on for almost 3 months, but Chuck was there for us the entire time. First the product was backordered, then it arrived defective, and THEN it was discontinued! Chuck worked with the supplier to get us a higher quality, much more expensive replacement at the same price we'd paid for the defective vinyl flooring. I also want to commend our installer, Kyle, for going above and beyond with our project. In addition to flawlessly installing both the hardwood and the vinyl, he was a reliable point-person when issues arose while we were still living out of town--he even relit our pilot light after a propane outage! read more

I say this based on factors such as selection, flexibility, warranties and service. Everyone was helpful and easy to work with in the store (Ashley & Brittney) and the crew that installed the floor (Tony, Steve, Kevin, Jean) was super professional. I had a lot of anxiety selecting the right tile, flooring, and carpet for my home and Brittany patiently helped me through each of my design concerns.. looking back on the experience--without her design expertise and suggestions, I don't think I would've been this happy with the results that I got. They are extremely knowledgeable in their craft and because of that, I am completely in love with the results. UPDATE: After I posted my initial review, I exchanged several emails with Brittany, the owner-manager. She eventually sent me a breakdown of the contract amount, which confirmed that Young's initial quote for installation was misleading and dishonest. Tim quoted me $3.83 per square foot, which I reasonably assumed would be multiplied by the actual square footage of the room, 304 s.f. Instead, Young's contract charged me for installation of 332 s.f., which included excess material they asked me to order to cover "waste." So, Young's would have charged me for installation of 28 s.f. of material that would not actually be installed. They also added $178.50 for "floor prep," which was not necessary and would not have been performed. (I know this because the installer who did install the floor and who charged us honestly for the actual square footage of the floor did not do any prep.) The Young's employee who came out to measure the floor should have seen that no prep was necessary. The charges for unnecessary prep and the installation of flooring which would not actually be installed served only to jack up the installation price. This practice appears to be a violation of California consumer protection laws. FURTHER UPDATE: Brittany's further reply completely misses the point. It doesn't matter if Young's has Michelangelo install the flooring or guarantees it for a million lifetimes. False and misleading pricing and other deceptive practices are unlawful in California. The quality of the goods or services provided is not a defense. If you're considering having Young's install anything, I suggest you demand an itemized bill and check it to see whether it is consistent with the price they quoted initially. Don't let them dupe you as they attempted with me. read more

I live in Grass Valley, but have a rental in Sacramento that I'm remodeling. The guy putting in my carpet for my rentals in the Sacramento area for 20 years was unable to do the work because of the coronavirus. I turned to Youngs Carpet One in Grass Valley and they were able the get the work done for me right away so that I could get the home rented and my cash flow going again. Chuck Lackey was very professional and helped me find the right carpet and pad out of a large selection and get it measured and installed within a week. I cannot say enough about Youngs Carpet One. The staff was extremely professional and friendly. My husband & I moved to Penn Valley a little over a year ago. We wanted new carpeting for our new home. Went to Youngs Carpet One and Chuck Lackey helped us. He has been a godsend to us. He helped us pick a carpet and gave us names for electricians, handyman and plumbers. You name it, he came up with the best. Everyone was so helpful and did a great job. The carpet layers were exceptional. We went back a few weeks ago to purchase a new floor for our kitchen and laundry area. Chuck helped us. We picked a floor then when we went back to the showroom we saw another floor we liked. Chuck brought over both samples to our house so we can see it first hand on the floor. A good thing he did. The first one we picked did not match at all. We knew that as soon as he put both samples on the floor. So we bought the second one we liked. Chuck laid everything out for us as to what would occur when the floor would be put down. There was another tile they had to take up first. So Chuck told us there would be dust, but they would put plastic over to contain the dust. These guys were the best. Dan and Anthony, father and son.
