Graduation celebration party of 11. Tinker has officially stolen my heart (and my appetite)! Every…read moresingle thing that hit our table was a flavor explosion, but I have to give a standing ovation to the pollo a la plancha juicy, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to absolute perfection. It's the kind of dish you take one bite of and immediately plot your next visit. And the side dishes...oh my goodness. Usually you have a "favorite" side and a "meh" side, but here, every single one was a star in its own right. Creamy, vibrant, tangy, savory, each had its own personality and every bite made me do a little happy dance. Honestly, it's rare to find a place where the sides are just as memorable as the main course, but Tinker nails it. The atmosphere was warm, the service was wonderful, and by the end of the meal everyone basically grinning like a kid at their birthday party. The Tres Leche cake was insanely good! If you haven't been yet, go. And if you have you already know you're overdue for another plate! It was really that good!

I've driven by many times and through the smoked glass it looked like chairs or something else was stored behind it and I though it had closed. The service was very good, prompt but not over attentive! The selection of Beers was outstanding! I had a starter of what was billed as Chupe De Pollo, (chicken chowder), it had very thick broth and was chocked full of chicken. Chicken breast was used and although there was a lot it was very dry and the broth was more like a heavy veloute. It also did not have much flavor. I won't be ordering that a again. My wife and I had Empanadas, mine was shredded beef and hers shredded chicken. I could have used a bit more sauce for dipping. The shell was quite crisp but not greasy. But all and all it was good. Our friend had the vegetarian arepas and let me taste some, it was quite good. She finished the whole dish! We also shared the loaded fries which came out hot with an interesting sauce drizzled over it. We didn't have the bacon on it as our friend is vegetarian. That would have made it even better for me. All in all it was a fun experience and we'll be going back.

I went to college in San Diego so I know when tacos and burritos are good. Let me tell you, this place ranks among the best tacos/burritos/fries I've ever had. I'll definitely come back here when I graduate next year.

During our previous visit, my wife and I tried their California Burrito, with carnitas for my wife and carne asada for me. Both burritos were bursting with flavors and were served in generous portions...we couldn't finish all of it. This time, we ordered the Bowl with Carne Asada for me and Carnitas for my wife. My mom tried their California Burrito 3 fish tacos. We were also served a flavorful dip that is not yet on the menu that the owner plans on adding soon...it'll be called Mama's Dip. It was so good, we can't stop eating it with chips. My wife actually just ate that with chips and took home the bowl. I too liked that dip very much that I too packed my bowl to go! The owner shared that they started the business 12 years ago and moved to the Newberry location 6 years ago. There's a reason they've been recognized for their food. Everything was prepared well, flavorful and freshly made. We learned they make everything in house from fresh ingredients...nothing frozen nor canned. Such care and attention to detail elevates the dining experience and raises the bar for fast casual Mexican restaurants. Clean space with friendly service and vibes. We will surely be back!

Sure, there is some (in my opinion) overpriced fried chicken, and a sports bar, but for just grabbing a bite to eat I wasn't up for that. However, down the road a little bit I found the Grove Shack food truck! There is some outdoor seating, and decent weather protection in case of a bit of rain or need of some shade, so I figured I would give it a shot. I just went with a burger and fries, which also comes with coleslaw. The burger was good, with solid ingredients. The fries I believe were from SysCo or PFG, but these days it is hard to find a place that isn't using fries from them, and they are decent fries, so I am alright with that. The only real disappointment I had was from the coleslaw, as it was a bit on the wimpy side. All in all a decent bite to eat, the prices were reasonable, and I enjoyed the experience.

But now I have finally had the opportunity, and it was definitely worth it! Typically parked next to the old Hollander's Hydraulics building, this taco stand has been operating in the parking lot for the past month, and appears to be doing quite well. They now have their own porta-potty, mostly for themselves but I would assume guests would be able to use it as well if needed. Access from both sides of the road is easy enough as well as there is a cross-over of 441 right at the entrance to the parking lot. Their menu has all the regular things you would expect with a variety of meats... tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tortas, and tostadas. I went with an order of tacos and a burrito. Now, I have found that tacos have become a bit over-hyped, and therefore expensive for what you get. This was the case as well... while the tacos are good, I just found them to be a bit pricey for what you get. You definitely get a better bang for the buck when it comes to the burrito, and I was quite happy with it. When it comes to ambiance, well... it is a taco truck on the side of the road. There is plenty of parking, but nowhere to sit, so this is purely a grab and go kind of place for the time being. Perhaps as they become more established in the location they will have a chance to put out some picnic tables or something so people can sit outside and eat their meals. I will be returning when the timing is right, as it is on the way home for me!
