Ventured to Florence from Columbia to go to the local tea shop and made plans to stop here as well. This place was a big punch with so many things to scoop up. Fortunately for me I made it a point to not go crazy with my South Carolina swag as my bags to get back home are already bursting at the seams. If you're looking for some cute locally sourced kitchen towels, all the flavored butters your heart could ask for or a great gift from South Carolina this is the place to be. While on a road trip I saw a sign for this place and decided to check it out. This is a mom and pops farmer market type of stole with all local products. They have a lot of different chocolate covered nuts and fruits like blueberries and cherries. A few sugar free options. Local chips (some weird one like okra) , pies , jams ,etc. I loved that they have a section we're you can try a few different products (covered blueberries were delicious). Now everything is extremely expensive. $20-30 for a container of chocolate covered nuts or fruits was a bit much. But you are helping support the local market. I have family in Florence and always visit Young's when I'm there. It's easy to spend $100.00 here. The pecan selection is extensive. I bought four packages and they were all good. Bought chocolate fudge and pecan praline fudge. Didn't care for them. The blueberry preserves I bought are awesome! Haven't opened the strawberry preserves yet, but expect the same. They have tons of canned items... Preserves, pickled just about everything you can think of. I recommend a visit for sure. read more

This store offers a variety of items. From toys, books, jams, snacks, ice-cream, desserts, sandwiches and baked goods. I'm assuming they are known for their pecans since it was boxed, packaged in different flavors. Plus there is a humongous letters that spell out pecans on top of their roof. What drew me in was the FREE SAMPLE sign. I entered near closing time (about 30 minutes) and was able to sample a few things before they began to clean up. I bought a box of pecans, books, small South Carolina trinkets, boiled peanuts and a pecan pie. Sadly, I wasn't able to sample the pecan pie before I bought it. It was too sweet for me, the crust was soft, and the pecans were not crunchy. My mother on the other hand really enjoyed it. This store also has a website that you can order from. However, it doesn't offer over half of the things that they sell at the store. They have a private parking lot right in front of the store. The store has a handful of tables where you can enjoy your snacks or food that you purchased. I thoughts that the products were reasonably priced, considering there are different hotels across the street. Everything was well organized. Purchased a chocolate pecan pie at Young's on November 24. Cut out the first piece today Nov. 26. Much too sweet. Only taste is sugar and the pie has a granulated sugar texture. No chocolate or pecan flavors. But, there is a weird burned or scorched undertaste that is very offensive. Couldn't finish that first slice and dumped the rest. Best Buy is The 2 lb. white tub is the cheapest per ounce of the chocolate covered pecans. Worse purchase is the Benne Wafers. The taste is awful. No sample given. Nasty tasting wafer, no favor. I got a buy one get one free. Now I have two bags to throw away. Don't waste your money or calories on this one. Interesting place to stop on a road trip just to look around. This exit is where we always stop for gas whether heading south or north. One day I wandered over to this store and I have stopped in almost every time since. You can grab a sandwich, soup or dessert which includes both fresh baked goods as well as hand dipped ice cream. They also have great gifts in this store. I have purchased, pickles, bloody mary mix and of course pralines and pecan logs but they also have non-food gifts. Today I purchased a pecan pie for Thanksgiving dinner. Been buying from Young's for at least twenty years. But I stopped by the Florence SC store on July 14, 2023 and snacked on the pecan samples before buying a Pecan Pie to take to my mother. We cut the Pie for lunch on July 15, 2023 awaiting a delicious bite of Young's Pecan Pie. To my dismay I had been sold a dried out Pecan Pie that wasn't worth eating. We use to get these when I was a little girl and went to Georgia to visit relatives. They have other cutesy souvenir sorts of things. After sampling the cheese straws, I had to get those, too. This is great place to go for a short pit stop directly off of I95 in South Carolina. There is plenty of parking and a huge amount of free samples from chocolate covered pecans to pecan bars. Reminiscent of a road-side farm stand, but it is not. Many of the products that were being sold were actually being "repackaged/resold" by Young Plantations. We spent over $40 for just a few items, and I agree with Kim, that you can go other places and do better. It was a trip down memory lane, and we won't be back. (If you ever drive on 65 South, in Clanton, Alabama, Heaton's Pecan Farm is the real deal. They only sell a very few items... pecans and local peaches, along with ice-cream and candies made with the pecans. They are still an original farm-stand model...OH, and if you do get there, their pecan mini-tarts are the bomb!) read more

I like taking visiting family to this store because it has all sorts of neat knick knacks and baubles there. They also offer a lot of baked goods, pecan candies and various canned and pickled items. All in all though, it's very expensive. There are other places offering local products that cost less but since this is conveniently located near the highway, I guess they feel okay with charging more money. They have samples of their products so at least you can try it out before buying it. It's hard to go wrong with chocolate covered pecans though. Young has great products so I went there today (June 1st) to buy a gift for a friend. Bought a $50 gift tin that was on sale. Got it home and thank goodness my wife took it out of the box before giving to friend. The lid of the tin says in big letters "HAPPY HOLIDAYS". At least 6 months old! Very tacky, cheap trick. I heard about this place from a friend so I decided to buy a couple of gift packages for my parents. They shipped my items to the wrong address - mine, not my parents. I have been vising Young Plantations for several years now. It is always my go to place to find delicious pecan treats, fresh baked breads and YUMMY Pecan Pies! Their employees are always friendly and more than willing to help. This store is the perfect stop for any gift, whether birthday, get well, congratulations, holiday, etc. It's a one stop shop! I can pick up my favorite sour dough bread and a great gift while I'm there. Of course, I can't leave without sampling their delicious treats at the sample bar (those Chocolate covered pecans are my favorite!). So, I make sure not to leave without a box of those and the Butter Roasted and Salted Pecans. (I don't think my husband would let me back in the house if I can home without them!).
