There is apparently a new owner and many improvements are going on now and will certainly be finished by mid August. The boys were able to practice batting, catching, fielding and pitching. The pricing is extremely fair and generous. They are currently finishing the floor of a basketball court adjacent to the baseball area. I am sure it will be very busy as people get ready for baseball season. So, take advantage now before the crowds show up. We plan to.

MITC is the perfect indoor tennis club for this small corner of SW NH. It is fairly bare bones --…read moreit is administered by a volunteer board and depends on members to be self-sufficient in navigating the club. That being said, this keeps the membership fees very reasonable. Court times are reserved online, and it is rare to be completely shut out of your preferred playing times on a regular basis. An added plus is that members do not need to pay for court reservations, unlike several clubs in the area. There are opportunities to play, no matter what your level. There are groups that are purely fun, recreational tennis, including plenty of social nights for fun play. For the more competitive players, there are USTA teams at many levels which often welcome new members. MITC has also ramped up their kids programs in the last year -- there are more offerings for junior tennis, open to the whole community. There is also quality instruction offered by tennis pros -- both in group settings and private lessons. They work with all ages and on your schedule. While there is not an in-house shop for gear, there are regular visits by equipment pros who can help with stringing racquets and finding the best gear for you. I've been a member for 5+ years. My entire family has taken advantage of everything MITC offers, and we're absolutely pleased with our experience there. Lighted basket ball court that they flood & turn into an outdoor ice skating rink in the winter complete with "warming" center with a snack bar, bathrooms, etc. Extremely basic playground, a few toddler swings, a few big kid swings, a slide, etc, but it is fenced in (there are openings in the fence though, & they're open, not gated), with a bubbler, a picnic table, & a big tree that provides a nice shady spot no matter what the time of the day is or where the sun is. It's kept up really well, they do a nice job keeping the grass & shrubs trimmed. Conveniently located less than 1 mile from all of the schools in Jaffrey & from Jaffrey's town center & main street. Parking on the street & across the street. The grade school uses the area on field days for the higher grades. Cons: No gates on the openings to the playground. Small, so if there are more than a few people there you're kind of "on top" of each other. I've seen it get super crowded on game days. It's Jaffrey, so if you are there at the same time as some "townies" & they're chatty you might get stuck having to make small-talk with people you'd rather not get stuck having to chat with. The parking on the street & across the street can get super crowded on game days & big trucks & XL SUV's frequently park on the street leaving their vehicles sticking out into the street... Overall: I think having the ice skating rink in the winter really "makes" this area. During warmer winters when the lakes don't freeze over for very long it is nice to have somewhere to go to ice skate.

They play a full season, ending with a championship. Good comradery, great work out, great community, well organized, playing different levels, different locations and on set nights. A number of season I've played in two of their division on different nights and sometimes different locations. A blast, but also a great work out.

They also offer beginner/instructional leagues, novice (intermediate) leagues and "Prime Time" (experienced) leagues. The Hockey Academy is generally a bit more expensive than other leagues around Boston. However their ice time is a bit more predictable. For example, I play in a league that is in Newton on either Wed or Thursday night at either 8, 9 or 10. That's pretty consistent compared to another league I play in where games are anywhere from Sunday to Thursday, between 8 and 11 pm and rotate between Newton, Arlington and Wilmington.
