I took my small Patterdale and Frenchie to Shirley. First we did a play day to see how they would do, they did great. They were happy and not stressed. When we did the full board they were excited to be there when we dropped them off, and their stay was stress free for us. I really like Your Best Friends Inn because it has that home feeling and each pet gets attention and love as if they belong to them. I also like that my babies are not treated as just a business, they sent me pictures, had me bring items from home with our smell and is familiar to them for my babies comfort. We have been leaving our 70lb poodle mix with Shirley for almost 2 years. When we're away for more than a weekend we also leave our bird and rabbit with her which is super convenient. We've tried a few other places in the area but they just didn't feel right. With Shirley our dog is happy and I know he actually enjoys his stays with her. When we mention her name he gets excited and runs to the car. After long stays with her he still smells decent and his bedding is sometimes even washed! The kennel area is always clean and in good shape. She takes them out to potty instead of letting them mess their kennel and provides AC or heating when needed. I love that she makes sure the dogs aren't barking all night as that makes my dog nervous and stressed. I feel good knowing I can leave him for an extended stay without stressing him out. He gets lots of play time in the well secured yard and he enjoys the summers when she puts the sprinklers and pools out for them to play. We went to Vegas and I needed a place to board my yr. old Border Collie and my elderly Pomeranian. This facility is really clean and organized. There are 4 different play yards that are used much like recess at schools. The dogs have several scheduled play times throughout the day, so they are not spending all day in a cage. My dog Molly loves running around playing with the other dogs. My older dog needed to be given medication which they took care to be sure it was given. I would recommend this kennel to anyone who needs to board their pets. Shirley and her staff are very loving and competent care givers. I requested the day care for my two dogs today. My black lab is a good boy but he has so much energy and plays a lot. My little long hair Chihuahua mix is very sweet. Tonight is my dogs first night here. I've never left my dogs with anyone without meeting them first. So I was a little nervous when I arrived. But I was greeted with genuine smiles and caring nurturing ladies. She was so thorough with check in and took me back to see their sleeping quarters when I asked to see it. It smelled like dogs and bleach. Perfect! It looked so clean. The floors were clean the rooms were organized and not cluttered. She let me kiss and hug my doggies but didn't allow me to linger. I appreciated that. It's so hard to leave them! Better just get it over with. I arrived back home and within a few minutes I was texted a picture of them playing in an enclosed patio area. I'm so happy I found this woman. So far I'm very pleased with this kennel. Mar 10,2019 I've left my dogs here 3 times now and still love it. They are so flexible too. I called to extend a day and then I didn't end up needing it after all so I picked them up anyway and she was so nice about it, just took it off the bill. Even though I got some stress barks when I picked up I don't think it's on her it's that my dog hates me to leave him. It was easy to make a reservation for my 8 month old Standard poodle, Midnight. Was greeted when I pulled up and the check in process was very simple and streamlined. I took my dog here after doing some online research. Their prices were decent and there were so many dogs there that made me feel like it would be a fine place to leave my dog. I have to admit, i was never really happy about placing my dog in a crate for the majority of the stay but when i went to pick her up the following day, my dog was outside caged in with other small dogs. One day I decided I've feel more comfortable finding a dog sitter to leave my dog with so they could provide my dog with one on one attention. Since I found my dog sitter, i realized how much more comfortable i feel leaving her in a home where she's not in a crate the majority of the day. I'd prefer to not leave her in a boarding facility of this kind, although it works for some, it just didn't for me. read more

We found Shirley and her Best Friends Inn after relocating to Three Rivers. This is the best home away from home for any pet. Shirley and her Staff treat our little Dog (Child) Tootsie like one of their own. When we ask Tootsie if she wants to go and have a play day at the doggie motel she gets so excited and follows us around until we get into the truck to take her. Tootsie is a long hair Chihuahua that is a one woman dog, until she meet Shirley, now Tootsie has two Mamas. Best Friends Inn is more than just a boarding facilities, we are able to a vacation and not worry about the care our Tootsie is receiving. Not only do they have play time put also get to swim when the weather is right. When we pick up Tootsie she is just as happy as when we dropped her off, even after being gone two weeks. I am incredibly impressed with the customer service I was provided and the care my two Doberman Pinchers were provided. Shirley is diligent, observant, and compassionate with animals and this clearly showed when I picked up my girls. Mishka and Sasha literally were smiling and giving lots of love to Shirley. For the last 8 months my husband and I have been taking our Vizsla to, "Your Best Friends Inn" for day care. From the play areas to the climate controlled indoor rest and boarding room, the place is immaculate & the atmosphere is peaceful & happy. There are pools and misters to keep the dogs cool in the summer when they are playing outdoors. Safety for the dogs is important. There are double gated entrances to all play areas. Proof of current vaccinations and Bordetella vaccine must be provided for all dogs. I have seen kittens, cats & hamsters boarded here too. Our dog enjoys her daily romps in the spacious fenced play areas with other dogs learning to be social. She gets to run with dogs similar in size and energy levels. When we pick our Vizsla up in the evening, she is happy and tired from a day of play. Also, the owner and her staff work with us using the commands we use for our dog so training is continued during the day. read more

Horrible experience. Thank goodness our dogs were only there one night; from making negative remarks about the energy level of our dogs, being spoken to with disrespect and condescendingly, to offensive remarks about us and our dogs, to a serious control issue, to shifting blame to customers... I could go on and on and on. We are traveling from Florida with my family and four dogs between us: three Golden Retrievers and a German Shepherd. We were incredibly frustrated and bothered upon pulling in (the owner wouldn't even let us park in certain places- because "the dogs might learn how to run away")???? The fact that she's worried about the dogs in her care running away is concerning enough; never mind the fact that dogs are smart enough to find a gate, WITHOUT being physically shown by a human. We are normally very patient and understanding people, but every conversation with her was condescending, offensive, and out of line while we were there during drop off and pick up. The owner has a major control issue, yet absolutely no control over her entire yard of dogs that bark incessantly. Regardless, she continued to shift blame on US--the customers!--the entire time we were there during drop off and pick up, that it's our dogs that were the problem, and were chaotic. Despite the fact that the only thing under control were us and our dogs. She was also highly incompetent and condescending the entire time over our dogs' vaccination records (again, we have had absolutely no issues with previous boarding until arriving here). Without making this a novel, one example was waiting until we got there to go over our dogs' records (which we already sent via email), and scrutinizing us that one of them was due, and going so far as to argue with us despite the fact that it was a three year shot, so even though he got it in September 2013, he was not due until September 2016 (not at drop off: sept. 2014). She also ignored our wishes to give our dogs the blanket they've been traveling with for some familiarity. And even told us at pick-up she didn't give it to them! When we asked if they could bathe our dogs before we picked them up (and we would pay) we were looked at like aliens and shot down immediately. This is not uncommon for boarding places, and after finding out the next day she DOES let them get wet just further exacerbated our frustration with yet another thing. She also refused to let one of us use the restroom when we got there. Again... this is supposed to be a place of business, but we were refused a rest room, talked down-upon and treated very unprofessionally. The owner and her employee also made negative remarks about the energy level of our dogs, and that "they made ____ fall on her back while she was walking them". Again, while I'm not sure it was our business to hear about the incompetency of her employees, it just further confirmed the incredibly unprofessional manner upon which everything is handled. read more

I recommend this place only in the event that no one else is available. It's a very weird set up and first impression. From driving up a dirt road, to parking in front of a gate where you are greeted by someone who takes your info at a table located on the front porch. They take your dog from you and at the gate is the farthest you'll step foot on that property. I've been there three times and have no clue as to what the facility looks like inside nor where my dog boards. The only reason I've gone back is because when I travel its always last minute, and they've always had openings. I'm still weirded out though about where my dog goes after they take him literally off my hands. read more

We were traveling on vacation and needed to put our 5 month pup Gonzo in a kennel. after searching all Visalia, I came across Your Best Friends Inn. Shirley returned my call right away and give me a list of things needed for Gonzo's stay. Upon arrival, I was given a tour of the kennels and play area, I felt super comfortable with leaving Gonzo with Shirley and her help. The next day I called to check in on Gonzo and Shirley assured me that he was doing great and had a great night and was making new friends. I was able to enjoy my vacation knowing Gonzo was being taken care of. I needed to extend Gonzo stay and Shirley was very nice and let me know it wasn't an issue. When we picked Gonzo up, he was happy to see me but also learned some manners with his stay. Since he is a puppy still, Shirley also gave me some training tips. when we got gonzo home, he was a NEW PUP, no jumping on us, no biting/nipping at our hands and went into his playpen without a fuss. WHOA - MY dogs will Never go back. Our usual boarder was full, it was a holiday weekend & we had plane tickets. Never been there before. The owner never told us they would be in small crates or we wouldn't have left them. We asked to see the place they would be staying in and reluctantly she showed my husband the crates. Went to pick them up, assistant said they spilled water on their bedding. Owner said they peed on their bedding - probably because they were not taken out of the crate. We both had a very uneasy feeling with the owner. If your gut is saying something - Listen! Our dogs have never been so happy to see us! BEWARE! read more

Ok as to the post written by M.J., I was there dropping my little girl off and had just pulled in behind them. They were very rude people and Shirley was very courteous to them being as their dogs were completely untrained and were so bad that they had even took their own owner to her knees and her husband had to step in and take her own two dogs from her. I think YELP should be completely ashamed for not verifying the truthfulness of that post, and furthermore I believe it should be removed completely. These dogs in question were jumping around dragging their owners around and so out of control. Then with people behind them wanting to drop off these people insisted on making us wait so they could feed their dogs when Shirley had offered to take them inside and feed them for them, but she the owner refused and Shirley was polite and apologized to me for the wait even though it was no fault of hers. And yes in the summer Shirley supplies pools for our pets to play in and you are shown the pool. She gives you a very nice tour of her facilities so it was no surprise to these people. I love Shirleys place and so does my little girl. It is like her being at home where as the other kennels I looked into just seemed like they were at the pound. Your Best Friends Inn is "WONDERFUL"! Our family has been using Your Best Friends Inn for over 7 years. We started with our elderly family cat that had special needs during the end of his life with us. Not only did Shirley take extra care with "Bob" when we notified her of his passing she had taken a picture of him during his last visit there and sent our family a very heartfelt sympathy card. Since then we have taken both our family dogs to Your Best Friends Inn. Both Misty and Nicholas are always well received and are happy when we pick them up. We can usually find them in the play yard waiting for our arrival. Your Best Friends Inn has a wonderful large outside play yard with trees for shade and grass for rolling around in. There is also a play yard for the smaller dogs too. I always know when we take our four legged family members to Shirley's they will be well taken care of and will have fun. Shirley also makes sure everyone has their updated vaccinations and the things they need to make their stay the very best. Our dogs are always put in their sleeping quarters so that they can SEE each other. If you have yet to try Your Best Friends Inn, you should go ahead and give it a go. You will not be disappointed.
