Here's the thing: I found dresses I liked at pretty much every other store I had visited in the Tampa Bay area. But they weren't "the one" and I knew it. You see, there was this dress I had seen online from bridal designer Madi Lane that I had fallen head-over-heels in love with -- and I knew I couldn't make a final decision without trying this dress on. Just one problem: I couldn't find any stores near me that carried this dress! Even stores that carried Madi Lane didn't have this particular dress in stock. I started calling every Florida dress shop that carried this designer. Some would just flat-out tell me "no, sorry," while two offered to arrange for a loaner dress to be shipped in -- which was nice, but I'd have to pay, of course. The fee would be applied toward the cost of the dress if I chose it. I would've taken them up on this offer, until I spoke to The Collection, who told me they had the dress in stock! So I immediately made an appointment, and since it was far enough away that my friends couldn't join me on this particular weekend, my fiance actually came along for the ride -- but stayed down the street at Panera while I went to try on dresses. Melanie was my stylist, and as soon as she asked what I was looking for, I turned around and pointed to my dress -- which was on the mannequin in the window. "THAT ONE!" She grabbed it off the display along with a few other dresses that fit the style I was looking for, and we headed into the dressing room. Of course, we made the mistake of trying on "my" dress first, because I instantly knew that was it. I didn't want to take it off. Everything else just looked terrible in comparison. Melanie knew it too... but I didn't want to say it was "the one" because none of my friends were there for that "say yes to the dress" moment. You only get one of those, after all. And she understood, so she made a follow-up appointment for me so I could bring my friends back to Winter Park and make a day of it. A few weeks later, that's exactly what we did. We road tripped from Tampa and walked in, where this time Roya took care of us since Melanie was working with another bride. They had my dress all ready for me to try on, and as soon as my friends saw it, they knew it was exactly what I had been looking for. They brought us all out glasses of champagne, and let us take a million photos from every angle you could possibly imagine. I think we were there just as long as a regular dress shopping appointment, haha. Looking back at photos from that day, I have the biggest grin on my face! I've never been one who really cared a whole lot about fashion or high-end clothing, shoes, or anything of the sort -- so I had NO idea a dress could do this to me. Go figure. Once again, I did not want to take that dress off. Probably a good sign that I made the right choice :) That was at the end of July, and they told me the dress would be in by December. So I was pretty surprised to have them call me at the end of September to tell me my dress was ready to be picked up! I wasn't able to get over to Winter Park until about a week and a half later, but the pickup process was super quick and easy. It wasn't until this final visit that I actually realized there's a free parking garage right behind the building. I'd only found it because there was a massive street festival going on that made regular parking pretty much impossible -- but on all my previous visits, we'd managed to find street parking just fine. Although knowing the garage was there would've made it easier, haha.

You're not allowed to take pictures of the dresses, unless you are purchasing it. The surroundings of the store are sketchy with a lot of suspicious people wandering around. The person who runs the business, Esmeralda, is an insensitive lady who lacks of empathy, honesty and customer service skills. She managed to manipulate and convince us to buy a dress several sizes bigger. She assured us she had someone that would take care of the alterations very quickly, that it wouldn't be very expensive and that we could make the adjustments until a time closer to the event. The reality is that I chose this place because I could pay for the dress in several payments during this waiting period. A week after the last payment she messaged me out of the blue with zero manners, simply saying "you must pick up the dress or I'll charge for a storage fee" this was never discussed, and it felt like she was just pushing to sell the dress and get rid of it. After all this, the dress I went pick it up despite the alterations that needed to be made, which she had promised were very easy and would take about a week. She gave us the dress in a torn plastic bag even though she displays them in a much nicer presentation at the store. When I brought up my discomfort with taking home the dress in a bag that you would normally get from the cleaners, she said that I had to pay for the nicer bag. I have purchased many dresses in my life, and I have never had to pay for a garment bag. To avoid further discussion I paid for the bag to take the dress home. This was 8 months before the event. When the day arrived that the alterations had to be made (2 months before the event) , she said without any regret, that the person who would normally do this, had to leave due to an emergency so we had to find someone else on our own. No apologies, no solutions, and zero empathy. I was mesmerized by how she did not care or even tried to provide a solution to a situation she caused due to her misinformation. She was incapable of recognizing the consequences of her actions and her dishonest behavior, instead she put the fault on us. I took the dress to someone else to do the fitting, and this other lady said that it would take a lot of time since the construction of the dress was complex, and a lot of adjustments needed to happen in order for it to look good on my daughter, so we had to pay extra for a rushed service. I paid nearly as much for the adjustment as I did for the dress. It honestly felt like this was something she knew from the beginning, and that she was never planning on providing someone to do the adjustments on the dress. You would expect from a business that sells dresses, a situation like this would never happen. If she says "I have so one who can do the alterations" you would imagine that even in the event that that person falls through, she would have a back up... specially if we purchased a much bigger dress, following her (wrongful) advise. My intention with this review is to prevent families from becoming a victim of a situation like this. Save yourself from a cumbersome and uncomfortable process and don't go to this awful place. There are a lot of other stores to find beautiful dresses for your daughter. Any other will be better and safer, I assure you.

I had done my research ahead of time and even saved specific dresses on Pinterest that I wanted to try. When I showed these to my stylist, I was told they did carry those dresses, but I was still expected to search for them on the floor with my family rather than having assistance pulling options, which felt surprising and frustrating for a bridal appointment. Throughout the appointment, I also didn't feel very comfortable asking for help when it came to adjusting the dress for photos on the pedestal, so my family ended up stepping in to assist instead as most of the time the stylist stood off to the side seeming disinterested and offered no assistance. As the appointment went on, I was able to find a few dresses I liked but wasn't feeling like I had found "the one." I asked my stylist, Heather, for guidance on what else I might try based on the styles I seemed to be leaning toward, but was told there wasn't really anything else to suggest. This was disappointing given the size of their selection. Later, when my mom pulled a couple additional dresses for me to try, I was told I was running low on time and that if I didn't like those dresses, it might not be worth trying them on. At the time, they were selling the last of their gown stock as they moved to focus solely on alterations, so I'm not sure if they still sell them. But the owner and team were incredibly kind and accommodating, and they provided prompt, knowledgeable service for bridal alterations.
