This is an amazing grocery and co-op and I can't say enough good things about it. First of all,…read moremost of their produce and meats are locally sourced from farmers and growers who follow sustainable best practices...and second of all, their food looks and tastes beyond amazing! The deli and bakery are the best I've encountered, with sophisticated and delicious baked goods (especially cakes!), salads, sandwiches, and prepared foods...all made from scratch and using mostly organic and local ingredients. They also provide catering and will do a beautiful and professional job, going above and beyond with the quality of their food selections and presentation. The store is a fun and cozy place to shop, and they usually have samples...the deli is the highlight of the store with so many yummy treats you won't be able to walk away without at least a few goodies. You can purchase a cup of fresh coffee and there is a soup and salad bar (not sure the hours for the latter, though). The store isn't super easy to find, but there is plenty of parking. (You don't have to be a member BTW to shop here.) I wish there were more groceries like this everywhere!

The cashier Kyle was especially knowledgeable and assisted us in choosing some speciality items. We will for sure return the next time we are in the Iowa City area.

Surprisingly, the inventory on 12/23 was very good. I picked up exactly what I needed. Plenty of friendly staff working, but there just isn't enough room to move around. We were 3-carts wide in the aisles. My fault for having to shop on 12/23, but still. We got in and out quickly. I enjoy the 'specialty' items that Aldi carries for short periods of time. For example, the Green Bean Casserole pizza I picked up. Or unique sauces and jellies. Many unique cheeses. They have so much more than that. They also have their infamous 'aisle of shame.' This is the aisle you go down if you want to blow your grocery budget, or if you have no budget at all. We're talking about the non-food items. Those throw pillows, boots, candles, underwear you didn't know you need. Don't leave Aldi without strolling down this one. I should also mention their extensive wine and beer selection. Not sure it's Trader Joe's level, but good nonetheless. Check them out next time you're in the area. I'm a frequent shopper, so maybe I'll bump into you. Don't forget that quarter for the shopping cart rental. You WILL need a cart.

Upon walking in I was bedazzled by the clean floors, sharp decor and clear signage. This store is huge and for good reason! It's practically the only game in town next to Walmart and a chain starting up in town called Fareway according to a very reliable local source. It boasts full service offerings like Chinese Express, Italian Express and a salad bar! Other than Whole Foods it seems as if true salad bars like this one have gone to the wayside. BIL and I walked the aisles for a while because he was determined for me to see as much value in this store as he had for years. Hy-vee really is the store that has a smile in every aisle as the jingle my BIL insists on singing so aptly states. I'll be back!

Very good produce and bakery and meat counter selections and employees in that areas. Pharmacy area is super and they give really good immunizations there. Most of the cashiers upfront are friendly and nice. Late afternoon and night manager is a grouch and stares at people and is not friendly at all. Lurks and follows shoppers around store and scolls, pretty creepy. He came up to me and said I made someone in the store uncomfortable and to leave and never come back in store. Ok, to use pharmacy outside pickup. Thanks a lot. I don't need to shop somewhere they don't want me. Going to Waterfront store for my grocery shopping.
