My son was taught everything other schools probably would never have focus on, he was able to dress himself and be fully potty train by the age of 14months. He was always super clean when he came home, they changed his clothes about 3 times a day. My little one continued being super clean on his own because of this. I just had lots of laundry weekly The whole school was super clean, it's a home daycare/preschool. Speaking Chinese at home was required to come to her school so she could continue this with the kids, I'm so glad I found her. My little boy speaks fluent Cantonese and Mandarin because of this. Isa always responded to my calls about the waitlist. I kept in contact with her for a couple of months and she always gave me updates. She called me one day suddenly to tell me one of the current kids was moving which freed up a spot for my son. It was the best news ever and I remember feeling so relieved and full of joy knowing that my son would be in good hands when I returned to work full time. The timing couldn't have been more perfect. She was so flexible and accommodating with my husband's and my work schedule when we requested a weekend tour. She was willing to give us a tour on the weekend even when she was super busy and was so kind. We were impressed with everything we saw and knew right away this was the perfect "home away from home" for our son. My son was under Isa's care since he was 5 months old until 2+ years, along with two other loving caregivers, Ms. Elida and Ms. Diana, who were all the sweetest ladies. We left only because we moved out of state. Otherwise we would've stayed at Isa's until he started pubic school. During that entire time, Isa was so kind, understanding, and incredibly patient with my millions of questions. She was very accommodating to my son's needs, took his medical issues seriously, and made sure he was well taken care of daily. She always kept me posted on his updates via text and let me know as soon as there were any issues so we were always aware of everything. It gave me a peace of mind leaving my son with her full time, knowing she had decades of experience, knowledge, and skills with childcare. I knew he was in good hands. My son always had a smile on his face when I picked him up every day. I always found myself going to her for advice on different things (illness symptoms, baby products, milestones, trying new foods, potty training, etc) because I trusted her and valued her opinion. She was always respectful, polite, professional, and easy to reach. She responded quickly via text, email, or phone call. If she was busy, she would call back as soon as she could and would apologize right away. Her home daycare is charming, beautiful, and well maintained. I always loved seeing all the vibrant flowers and lush plants on her front lawn. Everything was super clean, indoors and outdoors. Her backyard is a child's dream- it is bigger than I expected for a modest home with a large tricycle lane, play houses, and a garage converted into a secondary playroom with a train table, sand table, swings, and tons of other fun toys. I LOVE her backyard. She prepared all the healthy and nutritious meals and snacks herself every day. My son learned so much every day, including some Spanish words which was very impressive. They celebrate birthdays and holidays and send the cutest photos with festive backgrounds and props (my favorite one was the Valentine Party when my son wore heart shaped sunglasses). The daycares around our new community is pretty horrifying (high staff turnovers, staff shortage, communication issues, bad reviews, unsanitary, etc.) and it makes me wish we were back in California just so my son can still be at Isa's every day. I knew Isa's place was a high quality daycare with high standards, but I didn't realize how good it was until we moved to our new neighborhood. It is sad, frustrating, and disappointing to see so many daycares here that just don't have the same level of quality and high standards that Isa has. Even though the daycare cost was like our monthly rent, looking back now I realized it was totally worth it. The rate is competitive in the neighborhood (bordering South Pasadena). The quality of care from experienced and consistent staff who are passionate, dedicated, patient, and love caring for a group of babies and young kids on a daily basis is very impressive. In particular, I cannot say enough good things about Ms. Amanda's Toddler classroom. Our daughter came home weekly with beautifully crafted art projects and we received regular photo updates from the Procare app, which gave us peace of mind when she was so little. She also began potty training around 25 months old when Ms. Amanda noticed that she showed interest, and I attribute her potty training success to the consistent effort and support reinforced by her and the rest of the teachers. Another positive is that our very picky eater has been a big fan of the hot lunch program, which is cooked on-site (thanks Ms. Gene!) I would remove a star as there was quite a bit of staff turnover right as our daughter switched into the Pre-Primary classroom. This was unfortunate as the ever-changing staff made the transition more challenging for our child, and she had a bit of a regression. However, once Ms. Nona was instated as the main teacher, she was patient and worked with our daughter, meeting her at her level until she got over the hump. Though we're sad to leave Little Acorn, we're grateful that this program set our daughter up with such a great foundation. We will miss all the teachers at Little Acorn!
