I've been a huge fan of this company. They give you the ability to meet the people you need to connect with as an actor to make it in this business. I've seen actors I recognize from TV (General Hospital, Curb Your Enthusiasm) come to do workshops, meet with casting directors and get the information on how to make it in this business. It's valuable information that it would take years to get on your own! You walk away knowing how casting directors see you, what roles you would be right for and how to have those perfect headshots that fit you! I went to an event and one of the casting directors told me I'd be perfect for Disney and gave me the number to call her friend over at Disney and got me an appointment. This I wasn't expecting and was an added bonus. Studio Productions, is professional, helpful, with a friendly staff. It's conveniently located with spacious studios. In all honesty, no one compares. Now you can be part of webisodes, get professional tape, headshots if you ask for any additional services they always have someone to refer you too! They've done all the work so you don't have too. They have speed rating events with agents, they have a party like atmosphere that make you feel you are in a red carpet type event. Through this company, I've met producers, have had meetings with producers and it's taken me further to network meetings. I know this might be unusual, and the results vary, but if I never went to this company the doors wouldn't have opened up for me to take this rare opportunity. It may not happen for everyone, but it will happen for someone. A someone who shows up. I just love that fact that people get opportunities here. It's all about who you know and Studio Productions is who I know. It's worth it to at least check it out as an actor, reality TV personality, or someone who wants to know more about the business or possibility thinking about becoming a casting director. There are many CD's and producers who actually contact this company to shoot projects, film celebrities and contacts them for talent usually reality TV, but I know this because I've been one of those people referred. I have utilized many actor's studios in Los Angeles over the years and have found Studio Productions to be one of the most positive, supportive environments that I have been in. Over the last 6 months, almost every audition/part I have gotten has been the result of the CD workshops at SP. I also got my agent as a result of a workshop. Like reviewer Shannon said, you have to have the goods for ANY workshop to be useful. Don't throw your money away on CD or Agent workshops until you really understand yourself and your strengths as an actor. And, hey, if you are having a disconnect and not feeling as though the workshops are yielding results, be willing to talk to Jenny, the awesome consultant and coordinator at the studio. As much of a genius as I think I am, I really do need someone telling me that I need to go back and do some more work in a particular area from time to time. I have to say these negative reviews make no sense to me based on my experience and the experience of other actor colleagues that have gone to Studio Productions. The cost of their workshops is very competitive (if not less expensive than other places) and I personally appreciate receiving reminders of workshops more than once. There have been MANY times when I heard about a workshop at the beginning of the week and it didn't register with me. It was only when I received the reminder that I remembered to sign up. And if I didn't want to do the workshop, I deleted the email and went on about my business. I highly recommend this place if you are ready to be in front of casting directors, agents and managers. I have had a lot of success from attending the workshops at Studio Productions. I've been called in to audition for The Young & the Restless, The Newsroom on HBO, as well as independent projects. Just recently I scored my theatrical agent from doing the speed dating showcase! And I've taken multiple meetings from managers. For those that think this place is a scam you probably didn't have all the right tools before attending. Have a great headshot (the best it can be), professional resume, a put together appearance, and an awesome scene! Personally, I've had nothing but good experiences here. The staff has always been accommodating and generous...even willing to print out a resume for me when I forgot one. I got an agent through one of their workshops and have been going back to land a commercial agent and manager. They bring in great agents, managers, CDs, you name it! I had a workshop cancelled once, but I was called right away and told I could join the one that had a few more agents the next day. No drama...no headaches. I see a lot of repeat visitors as far as actors who keep coming back for CD workshops, etc. I see a lot of actors going to Studio Productions who tell me they have had success with the workshops. I do a lot of workshops so obviously I made my way here. I'm so confused by the negative comments. Its a casting director workshop, they are all conducted the same way pretty much. Any negative feelings shouldn't be about this place but about workshops in general from what are bitter unemployed actors I'm assuming. As an actor myself, I found this place and the employees very helpful and even got called in for an audition after reading with a CD! Highly recommend. read more

Complete and total waste of time and money. Took quite a few workshops here and they were a waste of time and money. One associate quipped that she gave my scene partner and I a scene that was wrong for us....but that was the last scene she had....and said and I quote 'Oh well....we'll pick the right one next time!'.....really I should waste more money at this place????? if you don't have credits....don't bother paying to meet any of the agents and managers....specific advice from a number of agents/managers that I paid to meet at this place "Your talented but don't have any credits.....keep doing workshops until a CD puts you in something"....really....certainly this is something that could have prevented me from attending this workshop in the first place.....can I get my money back for the session I just paid for??? And once you get on their mailing list....you don't come off and they send tons of emails.... Also...their cancellation policy is a sham....classes are rarely ever filled and get charged a cancellation fee regardless of whether they fill your spot or not. read more

I've been using studio productions (formerly the network studio) for years and have always had a great experience. Jenny and the staff are super friendly, and they are really great about letting you know which workshops are best suited to your current career needs. They will honestly tell you which CD's are more likely to call actors in to read and which ones won't -- either way, I find the more workshops I take the better I get to know cd's and agents, and building your network is what it's all about. If I have any negative feedback, it's just that the studio is a bit cramped especially during the larger events, but it makes it kinda fun and forces you into conversations with people! I love these guys. It is pretty simple, they have casting directors or associates or agents come in and conduct a workshop. You get to choose from their calendar who you are interested in. You come in. Depending on how that person conducts that class you either do a prepared scene or a cold read. How it goes from there is really up to you and how well you do. I've met wonderful people. I've obtained great representation. I've auditioned and booked work from the workshops. The people who work there are fantastic. What else can I say. This is the real deal. read more

I took a few workshops here. If you intend on going to practice your acting skills for fun, then this place is fine. However, I have an issue with paying casting directors to see the performance of a scene that is not being viewed "on camera." The emails that are always overly-enthusiastic and borderline misleading have been filling up my inbox and are VERY obnoxious! They will even call and text you about random workshops. I know several people who have dropped a lot of money here to meet with a panel of agents and/or managers and nothing ever came of it. To be fair, they do give the disclaimer that there are no guarantees. Personally, I think that all casting director workshops are a huge scam. To say that they are not a "paid for audition" is ridiculous! Nobody would ever pay money to go to these if they didn't think there was a chance that they would be cast in something. Also, giving the casting director your headshot and resume implies that you are "applying for a job" in and of itself. Again, if you just want to practice and get (maybe useful) feedback, then pay the money. I personally think that saving that money to pay for an actual acting class (on camera) would be better. Studio productions has the MOST pushy sales tactics I've ever seen! Also, they have no way of screening the talent level of an actor before they sign up for a workshop. You have the chance of getting paired up with someone who has little or no experience. This place is definitely just after money. read more
