The hardest thing for me not many can guide you or inform you the people to take you to temporary housing and then permanent housing. Majority of people are not aware of the process it is not instant and takes time for myself and my brother it's almost a year and finding out people discriminate on the homeless whether it's a racist issue or stereo types it is sad we need kindness forward to try to make a little impact of a smile and saying good morning no one is better than other but the true kindness of the heart is priceless. Happy Holidays and always appreciate and thank God you are above being close to poverty you never know if that happens to you but be grateful.

He beat me, raped me, stole everything I owned and accused me of being worthless. I ran away from him, only to encounter several of his type on the streets. The workers at this shelter have been angels to me. I love them all, especially the manager, Kay, who is constantly busy and never says she is too busy to listen, my PC, Marilyn, who is setting the example of who I want to be more like, and Gloria, because she's a quintessential female badass. There are many great counselors here, who are helping me build up my self-worth, piece by piece. If they were among the King's horses and men, Humpty Dumpty WOULD be back together again. There are few male staff members, but they are all class and restore my faith that not all men should be considered sub-human. Our maintenance worker, Ricky, is here everyday and works very hard to make the place nice for us and always treats us with the highest respect and professionalism. I would give this place five stars, but the food is awful and would be much better if kitchen staff could prepare it, instead if rewarming crappy food a caterer brings. Also, there is a policy of laissez-faire, related to women stealing from each other, even though there are ample cameras to identify the thieves and subjecting them to termination. My abuser stole everything I ever got he could sell for a dime, so when these women do it, who I could physically stand up to for myself, it is a huge trigger for me, and I'm lucky the staff here has managed to diffuse my anger and redirect it thus far.

They offer services without discrimination, aiming to meet immediate needs and address root causes of poverty in communities nationwide. This is one of the reasons why I donate to this location...it makes me feel good knowing I am helping out my community. The inside of the store is quite large with racks of clothes separated by sizes and gender. It is very neat & clean. They also sell used furniture, accessories, books and more. Donations are excepted daily during regular business hours. Plenty of parking in the lot. **Donation Drop offs - located in the back ~ and that's all I have to say about that...

You are treated as an asset in a team-oriented environment because YSC truly believes that by collaboration, more can get accomplished. They take staff as well as Youth's opinion and ideas to heart and it's simply only a reflection of their "for youth by youth" mission. YSC's initiatives towards social justice are unique. They're determined to put the Pacoima community and most importantly, its Youth on the map! Their services are comprehensive and available to any and all youth who seek to be proactive. YSC is essentially a haven where Youth can let go of inhibitions and use them as something positive and powerful. YSC's innovative approach sets them apart from any other organization. This is an organization I will continuously support even from the East Coast. I hold my former youth participants close to my heart.

I'd like to see more of these throughout the Valley. Great kids, great administration and love the fact that it's run by the youth for the youth. Can't wait until there's a Youth Speak Collective at every high school in the Valley. BRAVO!

With so many people effected by the pandemic, the state of the world, general health, the fires, the economy and wellness as well as the job market I've known/know many people who benefit from organizations like LAFH - who seem to be the most thorough, compassionate and active in Los Angeles. I've been lucky enough to help with on site gardening #greenthumb, homeless connect days, donation kits and even fundraising. I've connected with several staff, employees, security, affiliates and those seeking services and toured the facilities at their home base/main location in North Hollywood on Lankershim Blvd. I learn something new every week, and look for ways to be involved as well as encourage others to be involved. Visit their website under take action to become involved as a volunteer or connect to services if you need them or know someone who needs them. The employee pool at LAFH is extremely lacking in competence as well as having no interest whatsoever in helping those whom they have been hired to help. They appear very young & inexperienced with no concept of the urgency for the individuals that they are there to help. My own experience to base this perception on has been with the Media Relations (Rachel Kassenbrock) & the Community Outreach (Marco Santana) persons. That said - this entity is still a necessary evil & well worth every effort trying to get help from them.
