I came here on a very cold night, and Yu Noodles totally hit the spot. Such great Chinese comfort food! I usually get the sesame paste noodles with minced pork, but I decided to try other dishes: rainbow soup dumplings * $13 pizza pork soup dumplings * $12 sesame paste noodles with minced pork * $11 fried wing with garlic hot sauce * $11 chicken leg over rice with fried egg + minced pork * $13 black sticky rice with coconut milk and mango * $8 I probably wouldn't get the pizza soup dumplings again. I drive by this place on my way home and thought I would try them out. Once you enter thru the tinted windows I was surprised by the set up of tables, I thought it was a carryout. The drawings on the wall, genius. The place was empty but I placed my carry out order since I had other plans. I was greeted by a nice young lady' who directed me to a kiosk to place my order. I ordered Sichuan beef noodles and it took less than 10 minutes for it to arrive. When I got to my moms I found the typical separation of noodles from the broth but noticed not a lot of beef or bok choy in the broth. We were supposed to get a pizza as well, but they appeared to be out so I received two chicken dumplings. Not a problem just wish they would've told me! I haven't been to Yu Noodles for awhile, but I saw they had the fish with sour pickled cabbage which has hit a few cravings as of recent, so I wanted to try the one here. N8. FLOUNDER W. SOUR PICKLED CABBAGE NOODLE SOUP - 13 It came a quite a few pieces of flounder, which was quite good for the price. The flounder wasn't super soft, either it's not super fresh or overcooked. There was plenty of pickled cabbage to add a bit of acidity. The broth was OK. The flavor was a mix of sour and savory, but I prefer mine on the creamier side, and this broth just wasn't that. Regardless, it does the job. Glad to see more diverse cuisines in Rosslyn other than fast-casual. And for the area, this is reasonably affordable. read more

I got the yibin noodles, which had 2 chili peppers on the menu, but they weren't really spicy at all, and I'm not even good with spice. The sauce was pretty good but was basically one-note flavor. The pan fried pork buns were.... Not good. The filling was decent but instead of pan fried it looked like the dumplings were just held near a pan for a few seconds. Loved this new spot. I haven't been to any of Yu Noodles' other locations, but the menu at the new Rosslyn looked solid--so I had to check it out. The interior is sleek and minimal, with a clean design and a soundtrack of bumping U.S. pop music that gives it a fun, casual vibe. The staff was friendly and helpful, offering a few great suggestions. We started with the wood ear mushrooms ("fungus" on the menu). Served cold, they were surprisingly flavorful...light, spicy, and refreshing. A perfect appetizer before diving into something heavier. I went with the Chongqing noodles, and they were fantastic. The broth reminded me of a mala hot pot base...spicy, numbing, and complex...but paired with excellent noodles. I wish there had been an option to add some protein beyond the fried egg; a little meat would've taken it to the next level. We also tried the spicy pork soup dumplings, which were delicious and juicy. The vinegar-based dipping sauce wasn't really our thing, but the chili oil on the table worked just fine. I'm always in search for authentic Chinese restaurants in VA and am constantly disappointed. Unfortunately, Yu Noodles in a Rosslyn did not satisfy my expectations. The food wasn't terrible but not great either. I stoped by recently to have a solo dinner. I ordered their spicy beef noodle soup and pan fried pork buns. When I've tried spicy beef noodle soup in New York, typically the serving is much more generous and the beef is large chunks of tender beef in a deeply flavorful broth. What I was served at Yu Noodles was not that. What I got was a moderate portion of soup with thin slices of tough beef in a decently flavored broth. The pork buns were just okay, decent seasoning but I wish they were juicer. The one plus side I found was that the prices were decent, so I may come back to try other items on their menu. I just found out there was one in my area. After going I have to say the quality is great and the same as Fairfax. I really enjoy the spicy dumplings and other dishes that really bring back memories from my childhood. Service was ok. I didn't like how they seated me in the middle of the restaurant even though it wasn't but that's just my preference. Lastly parking is limited. It was raining that day so I found street parking right in front but I can see if it was not raining it would be hard to find street parking. I've tried several of their other locations in person but got this for delivery since it's closer to me. Pan fried buns: 3.5/5. These are a favorite from their other locations but the bottoms are just lightly fried and not crispy enough as these should be so they're closer to just regular steamed buns. Yu Noodles offer a unique taste on noodle soup. My girlfriend and I ordered the Beef Noodle Soup and Chongqing noodles and both dishes offered flavors that made us feel like we were in China. The spices especially was a unique taste that reminded me of my vacation to China as a kid. We recommend this restaurant for a quick eats by the Rosslyn metro stop. The noodles were done within 5 minutes of ordering, and the portion size was good. The interior was well designed and felt like a noodle shop. However, a lot of dishes include peanuts. I was really excited to try this branch which is the closest to DC and accessible by metro. The dumplings were soupy and delicious. The noodles are springy and I love the intestine meat which is something that I'm able to mimic at home, hence a must order if I dine out! Service was pretty mediocre as we were never properly greeted when we arrived. Basically gestured us to find any table and sit down. I ordered Chongqing noodles: the soup base tasted ok, ingredients included chili oil and some peanuts; noodles portion was small and underwhelming. My wife said her noodles tasted like it was pre-made then microwaved before serving. Then income a few Asian customers who were extremely loud and unruly. Quite a few customers in the restaurant were turning their heads. However it didn't seemed mattered to the restaurant staff. The atmosphere was turning terrible. I am so happy they opened a Yu Noodles in Rosslyn! Yu Noodles is one of my favorite chinese noodle places in the DMV. They have authentic delicious noodle soups. My go to is always the intestines noodle soup. Extremely flavorful! Their wood ear appetizer is also a go to. Since they just opened, some of the waiters are still getting into the rhythm of things, but otherwise, they are very nice and attentive! This place is great if you want to catch up with friends over a warm bowl of noodles. Hope this location catches on soon because their Fairfax location always has a line! read more
