I didn't know what the big deal was. Now I know! I ordered three types (2ea) of Conchas. They were the most flavorful moist Conchas I ever had. The powdered flavored coatings remained adhered to each Conchas with every bite. The coating of Conchas I previously tried from other bakeries fell off as soon as I picked them up. I also ordered her dessert empanadas. They were very tasty as well. This self-taught baker knows what she's doing and can teach the other bakers a thing or two. She has such a wide assortment of baked goods to choose from on her menu. She even takes orders to bake cakes for special occasions. Her cakes looks amazing! In fact I just ordered one, The Emma, which is her version of a German Chocolate Cake. I can't wait to see my wife's reaction after I present her with the cake. It's a surprise! It will be her birthday Tuesday and German Chocolate is her favorite!

There was a family emergency that made it so all plans had to be cancelled and it was already a difficult time due to the emergency. I wanted to get a nice cake from a local bakery to help make up for the cancelled plans, so it can still feel like a birthday. I had tried several other places, but was unsuccessful. I went in to the store (about 10 minutes after closing, which I had no idea until later), explained the situation to the very kind and empathetic worker, and she found a vanilla cake in the back that was exactly perfect. I understand that this was short notice because I did need the cake for 09/11/2023 but she guaranteed it would be available and I sent the payment for $125.00. The morning of my sister was able to go to amber's place of residence to pick up the cake, Amber asked my sister if she was happy with the cake and of course my sister said yes because it was a gift from me to her daughter. My sister sent me pictures of the cake and I was not happy with what it looked like. Amber does have a strict policy which I completely understand (I signed the contract). I reached out to Amber and sent her pictures of the cake to show her that it was damaged without any error on our part (cake was picked up). She proceeded to let me know that she became ill on Thursday 09/07/2023 (when I ordered the cake) and she was unable to make/decorate the cake so she had her "assistant who is still learning" make it. She offered a partial refund of $25 and a discount on a future order or my sister could bring back the cake to her place of residence and I could receive a "full refund" minus the 50% retainer. I opted for the $25 refund because my sister lives 30 minutes away and was having a dinner party for my niece. I understood the terms of the contract but was upset that I didn't have an option prior to receiving the cake. If she would have sent me a message prior I would have definitely understood. A part of me feels she took advantage knowing I was in CA and the person picking up the cake was near her. My sister ending up taking the cake to Fry's so they can write "Virgo szn"on top of the cake and fix the frosting on the side of the cake.
