Haven health at Sandpointe did such an amazing job with my father. I do, however, want to stress a…read morecrucial point that Haven is there to work with you. You should consider yourself a teammate and partner with Haven. I do come from a Hispanic family and often times I see an expectation that whether it be the hospital or rehab rehabilitation that all the responsibility falls on the provider to care for your loved one and that is simply not true. In the American medical system, the patient has to advocate for himself or herself, which means paying attention, asking great questions and following up. I know this because my wife is a nurse and I've gotten to learn so much from her. Understand your loved ones medication's, appointments, requirements, limitations and address them early and often. Admittance : My father was admitted in early March 2025 at age 87 who had a hip replacement from a fall and a possible stroke that left him unable to swallow requiring a PEG tube, and a lot of confusion (likely from dementia). Care: I would personally like to think the following people : - Dr. El Amin - Internist who took care of my dad at Yuma regional hospital - Gaby - nursing assistant - Darryl - Physical Therapy - Ariana - Occupational Therapy - Shauna - nurse - Sandra Social services - Sabdiel - social services - Chris - nurse - Julia - Physical Therapy - Julie - Occupational Therapy - Lulu - nurse - Jimel- Nursing assistant - Patty - Director - Laurie - Nurse - Rosemary - Director of nursing - and more that escapes me Special shout out to physical and occupational therapy. Their job looks like so much fun and part of me wanted to quit my job and work with them. They have so much fun and I couldn't help notice everyone in the therapy room had so much fun. I know I am leaving out people for which I apologize, but really thank you to the whole team. I know my father is super hard to work with. Because of his condition, he's agitated often in pain and struggling with the new normal of being fed through his stomach. I would constantly remind him to use his words and encourage him to do things on his own all in the spirit of getting better. There are a lot of things to pay attention to. I did go every day for the first week for several hours. I took notes, I asked questions and I followed up with my family to come to a conclusion on any next steps. Activities They looked like they had a lot of fun activities and I wish my dad could and would participate. If anything this left me wondering about how I can get my parents involved with activities like the ones they had there at Haven when they return home because the Social part of the elderly is so important. Friends and family interaction and socializing contribute to minimizing dementia especially things like game night, which require troubleshooting and critical thinking. Medications One thing I would highly recommend is downloading and getting access to your loved ones mycare account. I did this back in the hospital and of course before this I was the medical and financial power of attorney and I highly recommend you get yours completed and notarized. In this app, you can see all of the Doctors, nursing, therapy, etc. notes, orders, scans, future hospital appointments, and so forth. One of the things that we had to iterate on with the nurses at Haven was the dosage of medication so that my father could be alert during the day to interact with speech therapy and physical therapy, which is extremely important. it's a balance of managing pain and being alert to participate and take instruction from nursing and therapy. My father is stubborn and I therefore had to remind him constantly that the people there are there to help. They do of course get busy helping a lot of other patients and so therefore you and your family also have to be patient. They will get to you and while your loved one is in pain, Their pain isn't more important than any other patient. They are doing the best they can with the resources available however, once they do get to you, be ready and prepared with your needs, questions and so forth. Be clear and repeat yourself as needed. Not that you cannot ask them back but just be aware they do get busy as they make their rounds. Final thoughts I highly highly recommend this place. Thank you all once again for taking care of my father. My heart goes out to you all. Steven

Yet he has fallen 2 times while left unattended and was sent to the ER. Very disappointed on the care that is given. Looking to have him relocated. He had hip surgery almost 3 weeks ago yet he has only had a couple of hours of therapy. My dad has dementia, and gets anxiety at night because he is so confused. One person in the front told us we could bring my dad's ESA dog in, and when I brought the dog they told me no. I would NOT recommend bring your LO here.

The very first thing when patients are admitted, they do accounting of their belongings and possessions, and that was never done. Joanna is inept as our "Social worker" I made several requests for a wheelchair, and he was discharged without one, of course she blamed it on him being discharged early, but that is a lie, I left Hector, the nurse practitioner 18 messages and not one return phone call, My father was in this facility for 20 days, and I spoke to a therapist on one occasion. My father sat in soiled bed sheets for over 2 hours. When you this facility, you'll be put on hold for 20 minutes, Their recording that they play while on hold constantly refers themselves as "champions of care" and that "your loved ones are treated like family" none of this is accurate. The only nurse that returned my calls was an older gal, named Cindy, She should be a role model for the entire staff. My other social worker, Raul is just as inept as Joanna, Raul's favorite response is "I'm not aware of that" For being a "social worker" He is not aware of too many things, Please remember, social workers are supposed to be advocates for the family members of the patients. I understand that this is a business, But that is exactly how the staff (except for Cindy the nurse) treats this facility and it's patients. If this facility is given as an option, I would seriously reconsider, fortunately I was able to visit my dad frequently, other patients where they don't have family members coming in, are treated very poorly. On a Saturday night around 7 PM I could not get anyone to answer the phone for over 2-1/2 hours, To the point where I contacted the local sheriff department to do a welfare check on my father. That's unacceptable. Unfortunately I cannot give zero stars, So that is why I gave 1 star

Finding the right care was just as hard; we actually went through two different hospice companies before we finally found Compassus. I am so incredibly thankful we did. My mom passed away on May 12th. Before Compassus stepped in, she was in agonizing pain (an 8 to 10 out of 10), and her quality of life was miserable. Dr. Vega came directly to our house to meet her face-to-face. He promised he would bring her pain down to at least a 3--explaining honestly that while he might not be able to eliminate it completely, he would make it bearable. He kept his promise and did what no other doctor at the previous hospice centers could do. In fact, a few days before she stopped talking, my mom told us she was feeling no pain at all. Dr. Vega truly took her pain from a 10 to a 0. Every single staff member at Compassus was respectful, kind, and a genuine joy to speak with. They don't just support you while your loved one is passing; they are still here for us now with grief support groups and follow-up calls to check on our well-being. If you are looking for hospice care for a family member, I highly recommend Compassus. Thank you, Compassus, for making my mom's last days comfortable, and thank you, Dr. Vega, for giving her a peaceful, pain-free end. Our family cannot thank you enough.

Hate leave a bad review. Ford is a great provider, but…read more.. Looks like onvida is pulling a new billing scam. At the ENT clinic we had to sign an agreement that its a hospital service and a physician service and a hospital service will be charged. There will be a charge and a copay for both. I'd like to downgrade the review from two stars to zero stars, what is noted in the first section, doctor Ford is still a good provider. Unfortunately, the front office was an exercise in futility to be generous. We were unable to schedule the follow-up visit and were told to call back in a month. Then we tried to schedule to get hearing AIDS. They gave us a printed sheet of paper to call somebody else, and they started commenting about insurance that isn't ours, and finally realized they weren't even looking at the correct account. They were looking at somebody else's chart entirely. Obviously more annoyed than embarrassed at their incompetence, at that point they just tried to do everything they could to get us out of the office as fast as possible instead of taking care of us. I am not even angry. I'm appalled. How can a health care provider? They just said they were going to double charge and double co pay then say we just don't want your money. Go away. We're too incompetent to take care of you. I think they need to have their hearing checked. They said you may have to pay it out-of-pocket and then I said i'm aware of that. I'll pay it in cash $100 bills if necessary. So why in the hell couldn't they schedule it.

Mercenary: Two charges and two copays for a (not at the hospital) visit to see one provider for one service. Maybe its legal, but its certainly morally ambiguous. Poor Training: Unable to schedule follow up visit at time of current visit. Have to call back in a month. More Poor Training: Tried to schedule a different service and was handed a number to call somebody else for an insurance company we don't even have. Then I realized they were looking at somebody else's account. Instead of apologizing and trying to get things straight they just seemed to want to get us out of the office as fast as possible. Saying they would check with our insurance and call us. It's not covered by the insurance I was willing to pay out of pocket, but they never even let it get to that point. My mom needs hearing aids. I'm willing to pay in cash with $100 bills if need be, but Onvida's ENT clinic on Avenue B just wanted to get rid of us. Generally, Dr Patrick Ford is a great provider there, but he could stand to know a little more about the other directly related services within the clinic. I'd give Dr Ford 4 stars, but Onvida as an organization would get just 1. Given that the cost of Onvida (a community non-profit medical organization) is among the most expensive in the country, my experience today taking my mom to see the doctor was very disappointing. I went with my mom today with every intent of doing whatever was necessary to get her hearing aids going, and left feeling like Onvida doesn't want our business at any price. It was pretty terrible.

Sadly, my mother passed away last June and when we came back to say goodbye and take care of her business, all that remained from the clothes we bought her was a pair of gray shorts. Her new rehabilitation home said that's all that came with her. She constantly said she was cold, but they never adjusted the vents.
