We visited Yume when there were 4 staff members present and one other table with 2 customers. Server was good at taking our orders. The Sushi was not labeled when it was placed on the table. Glistening in the indirect light of those expansive windows stand the glorious Dancing Salmon Roll! Can sushi be snatched? I think so. The presentation here is on point. We went on a Friday night and it was pretty quiet. We had our choice of the whole restaurant to sit so we chose by the window. There's also outdoor seating, which directly overlooks State St! We got the Dancing Salmon Roll, Puppy Love roll and Spicy Salmon roll. My favorite was the Dancing Salmon roll. Overall they were all pretty spanking good rolls and decent value for what they were. I think our bill ended up being 35 for three decently beefy rolls, the perfect amount for 2 people. TLDR: a pretty good sit down sushi place that won't break your bank! read more

We have ordered here multiple times and have always had a delicious experience. Last night, we tried hibachi along by with our favorite sushi rolls and it was wonderful. I haven't been there physically, but I love how they separate the bag/containers that are hot v. Cold with cardboard and layers of bags. I can't stand lukewarm sushi! There really aren't that many sushi places in Madison and Yume is an excellent option for all of us raw-fish lovers. I have never found the sushi or rolls to smell or taste fishy and things are always fresh and delicious. The teriyaki sand hibachi options are also delicious. I recommend the seaweed salad and anything with crab. The prices are a little high, but competitive with other sushi places in the area. It's a good special delivery meal. read more

I had food delivered to my hotel while in Madison on business. I ordered the sushi veggie platter and, holy cow, it was a ton of food. I was stressed about work and looking for something filling, and Yume definitely did the trick. It's not a place I'd recommend if you're looking for a higher quality sushi experience, but it's good for what it is. There were some veggie rolls that were mystery rolls and one that I wouldn't eat because I couldn't identify it (bean curd, maybe)? Price was reasonable for the amount of food. I'd be willing to try Yume again and perhaps eat at the restaurant next time. read more

Decent sushi at a pretty good price. The rolls fell apart a bit but not as badly as other places in Madison. The sushi rice is ok, but not great. The Udon was excessively oily and the miso hardly had any tofu or seaweed in it, which may please some people but for me was disappointing. The vegetable tempura was also quite oily. I understand that may be a result of ordering delivery, at least in part, so I don't hold that one against them too much. I can't speak to the service since I ordered through EatStreet but it came fairly quickly. I liked it enough that I'd give them another try but I won't be getting udon or tempura. I have mostly got food delivered from here with the exception of one time. I always get the Pork Gyozas and Salmon Fire Roll. This is my usual dinner fix for most nights. Both items are great and delivery is always on time. For the one time I dined in, place is cozy and spacious - good for group dinners. Service was good and quick. read more

I can't believe I found such a wonderful sushi restaurant in Madison . . . just as I am about to leave the city! To be honest, I usually save my pennies to have sushi when I visit Chicago. The only place locally that has consistently been good is a sushi restaurant way over near East Towne Mall. For my first visit to Yume, I was offered a beautifully presented plate of sushi and two maki rolls -- everything precisely cut and very fresh. Excellent prices for the quality of fish served, and the service was also very courteous. And if you love creative maki, you must visit for their special on Sun-Thu: if you order a chef's special roll, you can order a second roll for only $1. I ordered the Hana Roll and spicy salmon roll--both delicious. I will be back as many times as I can afford before I leave Madison. read more

This is my husband's and my go-to sushi spot, both for ourselves and when we have visitors from out of town. The sushi is fresh and delicious, and the menu has tons of options to choose from, including vegetarian rolls. Aside from the sushi, we usually get a ginger salad, clear soup, and seaweed salad, and they're all great every time. My husband frequently gets hibachi dishes and I always have to steal a few bites because the flavors are so good. They also have a nice saki menu. The atmosphere is pretty quiet and cozy, and there are usually lots of couples, though we often go with groups of friends, too. The servers are very friendly and service is always quick. They're almost never full, so if you just drop in (like we usually do), you're likely to be seated right away. read more

I'm excited about the new Yume on State St. They have a wonderful veggie roll option with pickled squash, called the Green Delight roll. I crave for this roll! The food does not match the price. If the price is half down, I can review it four stars. But in this price, I can only give it two stars.

Unfortunately, Yume will forever have to be compared to Wasabi, since it took it's place after Wasabi closed. If you enjoyed Wasabi, Yume will not meet your expectations. While I imagine they get the same grade of seafood for their sushi as any sushi restaurant in Madison, the sushi rice is a mile away from the quality that Wasabi prepared. It is a shame that Wasabi is no longer in business, it was truly the best place to get your sushi fix in Madison. I was hoping Yume would be a sufficient replacement in place of Wasabi but unfortunately it is not even close to meeting the quality of sushi that Wasabi served. read more

don't do it. if you are thinking this place is anything like the former state street sushi establishment Wasabi, think again. It was so disappointing- there is lettuce in the spider rolls(!!), everything is filled w very low grade artificial crab (which means beware, this sushi is NOT gluten free), the fish is not fresh (and i'm pretty sure the tuna is dyed), and the rolls are bulky and don't stay in one piece because they aren't made properly, just to name a few immediate issues. nothing looked anything like the pictures listed. i hate to be the first and a negative review at that, but this place really has no business serving sushi at all. read more

This place seems to have taken over the old space what was, until the end of July 20018, called Wasabi. If you ever ate Wasabi's sushi, Yume will not do. The fish isn't as fresh as it was previously, the rolls are sloppy and contain, in many cases, lettuce as a filler. Yume is supermarket quality on their better days. Just eat someplace else, it's absolutely a waste of money. What a shame, Wasabi was delightful. RIP. read more

Love Yume on State Street. Delicious sushi, and they have the fabulous bento box specials that brought me to the former Takara for many years. My favorite is the shrimp tempura bento box, but ordering off the sushi menu is a delight as well. read more
