Any 3 Rolls Lunch Special Tuna Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll Spicy Salmon Roll

Visited the restaurant for a work team lunch on Wednesday. Wasn't very busy inside so it was easy to seat all of us. We all got their any 3 rolls lunch special and all the food came at once. Friendly service and very attentive staff. Plenty of parking but the restaurant is a modest size. Great food!

Understated, unassuming, and undeniably delicious! I had lunch by myself and got to sit at the bar. As usual, my food arrived quickly, despite being busy. I had the sushi sashimi combo with a salad. The salad was yummy, a typical side salad that one could expect from a Japanese sushi restaurant. In terms of the sushi, it consisted of perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned rice, very fresh fish, and generous portions. As always, service was kind and attentive. Overall, the perfect spot for a yummy lunch!

The best sushi on the east side of Madison. Consistent and always delicious. Always start with an order of gyoza. My favorite roll is the dynamite roll. Super filling for two people after the app! Always friendly and prompt service as well.

A great sushi place that offers hibachi! Someone recommended that I try Takumi if I love sushi and I'm sure glad I did. My partner and I came here on a Tuesday night for dinner. The place was pretty packed. I opted for a special roll, the Foxy Lady roll, and a simple salmon avocado roll. Both were delicious! Ample amounts of filling in both which I really appreciate! I thought the rice was a tad bit mushy/too much on the roll, but that's probably my personal taste. Regardless, I still cleaned the plate. My partner got the chicken Katsu and said it was probably the best he's tried in Madison. We also got a side order of hibachi rice that was delicious as well. It's been a while since I had hibachi anything so seeing it on the menu was a nice surprise for me. It seems like you can reserve both regular tables and hibachi tables. Good to keep in mind for larger parties. The staff were super attentive and friendly the entire night. Covid protocol was followed and there was plenty of parking. Overall, a great Japanese spot for any occasion.

I was surprised at how busy this place was on a weekday night. There seemed to be a lot of regulars dining that the staff knew by name. The prices were pretty reasonable. The food was good. The service was friendly. Sit at the sushi bar & you get dinner and a show.

In my opinion, this is the best sushi place in town. My reviews are always based on flavor, freshness, and quality of food. This place is 5 stars. The freshness is insane and the portions are good too. Suggested Sushi Order: Vegetable Tempura Roll Tamago Nigiri Salmon Sashimi Fatty Tuna Sashimi

I almost don't want to write this review, because I selfishly want to keep this restaurant ALL to myself, but.... Hands down, Takumi is my favorite sushi place in all of Madison - and we have plenty to choose from. These sushi chefs create some of the most beautiful, fresh, delicious rolls i've ever had - it is truly art. I've never had a roll here that didn't blow me away. And, for the non-sushi eaters - their hibachi is really solid, too. On top of that, the service is great - they're very accommodating, kind, and helpful. I love this place SO, so much. You will, too. 12/10 would recommend.

Not a lot of sushi places make hand rolls so points for that! They're toro was delicious! And recommend the shimizu-no-mai sake, very smooth finish.

I took my husband to Takumi for Father's Day and the food/show did not disappoint. My husband was craving habachi since we frequented Benihana's in LA. This restaurant does not have the size or atmosphere of Benihana but it is a quaint little restaurant with two hibachi tables near the back. The show wasn't quite as fanciful, but the waiter did a good job. My daughter was terrified of the fire, so we may wait a little while before coming back with her.

    Poke Bowl - shrimp

I found Takumi in my search for local poke bowls, and found an amazing spot here in East Madison! The woman working behind the counter was enormously friendly, welcoming and helpful with all of my questions about ingredients and sauces. She was very meticulous in preparing the four bowls ordered. I ordered a shrimp poke bowl and all of the ingredients (pineapple, corn, cucumber, carrot and crispy onions) were very fresh and beautifully arranged. The poke sauce is well balanced with the right amount of soy, sesame, garlic and ginger without overpowering the freshness of the rest of the bowl. The restaurant is very quaint, clean and inviting, as well. I would HIGHLY recommend visiting Takumi for poke bowls in ALL of Madison!

There's not a lot of sushi option when it comes to the East side of Madison for some reason, but am so thankful Takumi is an option and it is a great option. They are always on point with there sushi and are priced very reasonably. During lunch time, M-Sat you can have sushi at an even more affordable price either 2 or 3 rolls included soup or salad for only $9.50 or $12.25 respectively and bento boxes for under $10 Their hibachi is a ton of fun. Their staff make it really entertaining. And for your BD they come out banging a drum, rocking to Happy BD. They let everyone know you're celebrating. I have celebrated many occasions here.

Was driving through and this spot was right off of the main route. Delicious sushi. I wish I could remember which rolls we got. But they were very good. Order was slightly delayed for pick up but otherwise it was a great experience.

    Busy, but cozy dining room.

The neighborhood is nice and Sake Sushi is located in a small plaza, however I almost missed it since it is located on the side of the plaza and was not visible from the street. Inside I found an interesting mix of decor, it seems like a traditional Asian restaurant with white linen tableclothes and also some very modern touches including neon strip lighting along the ceiling and a variety of light fixtures. Overall a bit of a mishmash that would be better if they picked one style and stayed with it. I got there in the late afternoon so the place was empty at first, I was seated and given the menu which allows you to fill out what you want. The menu is fairly similar to other AYCE sushi places I have been at. Of note is that at dinner you can order up to 15 pieces of sashimi without an extra charge. I ordered a nice selection of sashimi, some sushi, a couple of different maki rolls, the salmon skin salad and the seafood soup. Interestingly the sashimi and sushi came out first, then the maki rolls, then the soup and salad. The sashimi was very good, fresh with nice sized pieces; the nigiri sushi had a nice portion of seafood to rice. I was a bit disappointed with the seafood soup, just a bit under seasoned and too much bean sprouts. The salmon skin salad was excellent with nicely roasted smoked salmon skin mixed with a bit of eel sauce, delicious, crunchy and one of my favorites that you don't see everywhere. I also enjoyed the scallops sashimi, large fresh raw scallops with a nice delicate flavor and texture. The maki rolls were good as well, nicely sized with plenty of filling. I did really enjoy the Super Lobster Roll with shrimp tempura, cucumbers, avocado then topped with lobster salad; the lobster salad was a nice treat, although I think it was made with lagostino lobsters it was still tasty. I also liked their version of spider roll, the soft shell crab was crispy and flavorful. I enjoyed my meal at Sake Sushi, dinner was $30 for all you can eat. The sushi and sashimi were very good, of course not quite the same quality as the best sushi bars but pretty close. Service was good and there are plenty of choices, including noodle dishes, fried rice, hibachi and tempura. The decor is a bit of a miss, but nothing that will keep you from enjoying your meal. Well worth a try if you are hungry and feel like some sushi and Japanese food.

The hubby and I were hungry after our workout tonight and I sure am happy that we peaked our head inside Nori after initially being drawn to the restaurant by our noses. She called the sushi "chef" (that's a stretch in this case!) several times to answer questions. I asked if there were any spicy rolls, and he suggested a few, but they all contained imitation crab, which I find unappetizing. I finally settled on a Spicy Salmon Roll and a Soft Shell Crab Roll. I also ordered a Miso Soup. The Miso Soup arrived first, and it was a very watered-down version of Miso Soup with no umami. I stopped and pushed it aside after a couple of spoonfuls. The rolls arrived, and I was about to ask for wasabi and pickled ginger when I noticed these little pre-packaged plastic bags of wasabi and pickled ginger. I should have left then . . . a big mistake to stay. I started on the Spicy Salmon Roll. One bite and I knew I wouldn't enjoy it. I've never tasted such a mediocre take on sushi rolls. I ate two pieces because I was hungry, but it was all I could stomach. I looked at the Soft Shell Crab Roll and noticed that it contained imitation crab. I called the young woman over, and of course, she went and got the "chef". I told him that I didn't recall seeing imitation crab in the description of the roll on the menu. He said he'd make me a fresh batch without the imitation crab. The replacement roll came, and there were little red bits of something sprinkled on top of each slice. I called the young woman over and asked her what it was. She insisted that it was tobiko. Honey, I'm from California, and I know tobiko when I see it. This ain't tobiko. I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Again, another big mistake. I took a bite and quickly spat it out because my chest suddenly felt constricted. I started coughing, and tears began streaming down my face. My mouth felt like there had been a chemical explosion, and I had trouble breathing. I called the girl over again and, with a raspy voice, asked her what was in the roll. Of course, she called the "chef", and instead of answering my question, he told me he would refund me for the roll. My curiosity got the better of me. I was pretty certain it was the little red bits of "tobiko" that caused the reaction I had, so I scraped them off the next roll and removed the piece of soft shell crab, ate it, and it was fine. I braved myself and took a bite of the roll with the "tobiko", and had the same reaction as before. That was it. I'd had enough of this wannabe sushi joint. I gathered my things, told the young woman this was the worst food I've ever had, and left. That was such a frightening experience. The pain in my chest subsided after an hour or so, but my voice remained raspy for the rest of the day. I will never go back and wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. How this place garnered 4.4 stars is beyond me. Giving it 1 star is being overly generous!
