I called last minute to find Passover desserts and the owner was so delightful on the phone. She had a cheese cake and a chocolate torte. She was able to hold them for me until later that day. This is a wonderful little bakery in Westboro! I stopped by after hearing about it from a friend who recommended this bakery for their brownies. What I left with instead was a half dozen cupcakes, coconut pound cake, and an apricot almond bar (I forgot the brownies as I was clearly very distracted and overwhelmed by all these choices). Needless to say, everything I got was so good! The cupcakes had a surprising amount of flavor to them that really pack a good punch and leave you wanting more. The coconut pound cake was the best I've had in a while and the bar was a beautiful balance of citrus, shortbread, and nutty. I'm fortunate that the woman at the counter who was helping me was patient enough to allow me time to decide on everything and also give me her top picks as well! Do be warned, that it is a small space, but it's cute and well organized so that it's not overwhelming. If you're in town, I definitely recommend stopping by! I was really impressed by the way the cake I ordered presented. It was exactly how I described it on the phone a few days before. They were able to create a rainbow cake, and the cost was reasonable (internet cakes are well over $70 per cake). The reason I cannot score this a 4 or 5 was the texture and flavor of the colored layers. Sure, the colors were bright, and the icing was vegan-friendly throughout. But, it was too sweet. The cake was somewhat dry, but had a good feeling in my mouth. My daughter said, "yours is better", referring to my Dunkin Hines Dark Chocolate Fudge cake I have made her in the past (a little unfair to rate chocolate against vanilla - chocolate wins every time in this house.) I did speak to the owner when I went to pick up the cake, and she seemed very nice. She said she hires the best bakers around. This was just a minor miss in my book. I will offer this constructive feedback: invest in cardboard boxes that fit your layer cakes. While your attendant scrambled to find a box big enough, she had to finagle the box so that the lid stayed at an angle, and she covered the whole thing in plastic wrap (light rain). We always order our special occasion cakes from Yummy Mummy and leave the decorating up to the baker and each time we unbox such a delightful discovery! The design is always classy, elegant, and beautiful. For non-vegans there are two excellent nostalgic treats: Popovers and Coconut Pound Cake. I really love brownies and chocolate. These brownies are just too chocolately. And the flavor difference between the different flavors is mostly overpowered by the overwhelming rich chocolate. I love gooey brownies. These are gooey on the inside but really just too chocolatey. I don't think I've ever said that before in my life in any bakery. I could only imagine eating these cut up into small pieces and put into an ice cream sundae. I received these as a birthday present and really wished I hadn't--I got 6 in the box and really could only eat a bite or two. Really want to throw them away. Basically inedible except potentially with a lot of ice cream. I can't comment on their other baked good products. But, want to save someone from getting this type of nasty surprise for their birthday. I've been to the store as well and it's a cute little shop. i stopped here on a whim after realizing it was literally across the roadway from Rocco's Doughnuts, where i had already picked up our order. i've been on a local bakery kick, and decided it was clearly kismet that i also visit Yummy Mummy the same day. the shop atmosphere is cheerful and super cute. their COVID procedures are excellent. you can order online in advance and have it brought out to you, or order inside. there's enough room to social distance, and employees are all wearing masks and behind guards. i will say- these treats are among some of the most decadent i've ever gotten. you can easily split one bar/cookie/item between 2 or 3 people and be totally satisfied. or keep it all to yourself. i got a sampling of: lemon bar, 7 layer bar, pecan bar, pumpkin muffin, a couple of cookies, and a peanut butter cookie dough bar. oh my goodness- absolute heaven. everything tasted fresh and rich and luxurious. obviously i enjoyed all the treats, but, especially if i wanted to shop local and bring something impressive to drop off (or mail!) to friends or family, i would totally recommend Yummy Mummy. there were a lot of brownies prepackaged. they seem to be a signature item, along with their coconut cake. while i didn't get any of either on my first visit, i definitely will the next time i'm there. everything was SO.
