Bayee Village has been producing reliable, tasty Chinese food in Wimbledon for decades and there is a sister restaurant in Putney. The decor is great, from the 2 stone lions guarding the entrance to the large fish tank and Chinese lanterns inside. You are also always assured of a warm welcome and better service than in many Chinatown restaurants. The food is a mixture of Peking (north) and Szechuan (southwest) cuisine. The house speciality is seafood and if your budget can stretch, you won't be disappointed with the lobster and spring onion on a bed of crispy noodles, steamed whole sea bass with ginger and spring onion, kung po king prawns with sweet chilli sauce and garlic and soft shell crab with fresh chilli pepper and garlic salt. The other non seafood dishes are also good. A good solid local Chinese restaurant.

It was fresh, full of flavours and it even felt as though i was eating healthy food! I had a gorgeous aubergine dish that was gorgeous and their crispy duck was really tasty as well as their cashew nut dishes. We had some really nice wine here as well. The decor is quite strange, with a classic piano and aquarium in the restaurant but i guess it gave us something to look at while we waited...and we were waiting for quite a while...maybe this is a good sign as it made me think everything was being cooked freshly from scratch, otherwise they were just being really slow. The service of the waiters was a little on the slow side but luckily we weren't in a rush. The prices were all pretty reasonable as well. I will return if i'm in the area.

Absolutely delicious Silk Tofu with crab meat- flavorful, perfect with the bread bowl. Jiu Niang (glutinous rice with rice wine)- really fragrant. Perfect ending to a meal Ambiance was nice, with classy decors. Perfect place to celebrate lunar new year with friends and family.

We sent an email to pre-order a duck and asked for a high chair for a toddler and we would bring an infant. Two minutes later, we received a phone call to say the restaurant was full and we were no longer allowed to come. Surely the restaurant will maintain this false alibi, but as a test we asked friends to book the same-sized table online and also on the phone. Both tables were booked and on the phone the same exact person confirmed immediate availability. It is a real shame as the food is quite good. We have done Chinese New Year here and birthdays here before. However, the front of house staff do absolutely no justice to the chefs. In Chinese culture we have round tables because families eat together. This restaurant, however, discriminates against babies and young children, and to have done this on mother's day is an absolute disgrace. Shame on you.
