Yuquiyu is nothing but snack stand. Its most prepackage chips, trail mix, and granola bar things. The sign says "grill" but they didn't have any functional grill or grilled foods listed when I was there. What they did have, however, was an offering of fresh squeezed orange juice which was pretty good. But even as far as roadside snack stands are concerned Yuquiyu doesn't amount to much. It can get to be a crowded tourist hangout especially when the adjacent trial is closed by the emergency medical workers when taking those out who have fallen on the trail and broken a leg, a seemingly daily and constant occurrence. read more

There's one inside the Welcome Center (upstairs to the right) and one near the Palo Colorado Trail. Everything is premade frozen. Frigid black metal weaved tables and chairs. Think of this as another overpriced concession stand at an amusement park. Same shit, different smell. Except they only have burgers on Fri/Sat/Sun. Ordered: -Ham and cheese wrap ($5.95) - I think I saw Velveeta in this -Chicken and cheese Taquitos ($7.95) - you get 4, frozen but fried to order, so at least it was hot Total came out to $9/pp after everything I'll upload a teaser pic for now but will upload more in a few days to do this review justice..be sure to check back! Take it for what it is, a snack bar in the middle of the rain forest. A yummy quick stop here is a must. Get some empanadas with their salsa. Their salsa is phenomenal! They bottle it too so get a bottle to take home. Only problem is it needs to be refrigerated so don't buy a bottle then go exploring the rain forest for the next 3 hours or it may not last. Its very sweet, so goes well with empanadas. They don't advertise their salsa is for sale by the bottle but just ask, its so good!!! Not a place you'd seek out but if you're visiting El Yunque, definitely worth a snack before you get back to town and get dinner. read more

This place is has great Puerto Rican food along with some American items. The location is right in the middle of the rain forest in a beautiful setting. The Carne Fritas were excellent. Worth it to stop and have a bite to eat. read more

The cafe in the Welcome Center is on par for a museum restaurant. The food is a bit overpriced and not very fresh, but what do you expect? If you're hungry and need a quick hot dog and soda, then this'll do just fine. If you want anything more I'd recommend holding out and hitting up the kiosks after your visit to the park. BTW - definitely don't order the taquitos, unless you enjoy liquifying your insides from the fillings. Good lord they were hot! read more

I read the previous two reviews before writing mine and am now wondering if they ate at the same place I did. I didn't even notice that there was a cafe at the Welcome Center. We ate at the one about half-way up at the Palo Colorado Trail. We were there on a Thursday and I had a burger which was very good. My son and I split the cheeseburger and we also split a chicken empanada... again very good. My parents had a grilled chicken breast with rice and beans and both were pleased. No problems here. The fried foods (or frituras) are made in the little cabin and the chicken and burger were made outside on a grill. The prices were consistent with a tourist locale... what else can you expect? It is just a snack bar and the name Grill is just that a name not a restaurant which you can go about a mile down the road. If you want fresh lemonade before or after a hike than it's just the place. The help was very nice. They do have chips and bake goods if you forgot to bring a snake, plus they also have fresh fruit too read more

The prices were not cheap, but they are located in a Rainforest. They only accept cash, so keep please that in mind. The kids got Nathans hot dogs, which you can find anywhere. We got their quesadillas, which were ok. However, the part that I loved the most was there pico de gallo sauce. My wife, who normally does not eat spicy food, was eating their pico de gallo sauce. It turned those freshly made quesadillas into a great meal. In fact, I ordered a few bottles, and then we came back on our last day and got a few more. The grill also cooks chicken kabobs and various other meats. Lastly, the people that work there are very friendly and have great personalities. It is cool seeing some New Yorkers move to Puerto Rico and work a family business in the Rainforest. read more

I recently went on a tour and our first stop was el portal in Puerto Rico. We were given about 45 minutes or so to look around and decided I was hungry so I went to this establishment. I ordered and waited over 35 minutes for my food and had to go back to the bus without my food (and my 19 bucks).
