You can buy his Painkillers by the gallon to take to the beach and share with friends or to be the hit of the next party!!

Jim is the secret on St John that needs to get out. I go to Coco Jim's everytime I am on island and sometimes twice. He makes this smoked chicken that is tasty with great seasoning. He compliments the chicken with a southern coleslaw and potato salad. As if that is not enough, he makes a spicy Minestrone soup. And to top it off and wash down the great food, his Painkiller is a "Killa!" He now sells the Painkiller by the gallon. Take it to the beach or your next party......Jim is a one man show that you should not miss, great service! And he knows his college football. Go see Jim on Centerline Road on St John.....

Jim is a lovely man! Stopped for a famous painkiller (yum!) and he gave us homemade minestrone soup too. Duke and Bunny made quick friends. Definitely worth a stop!

The best smoked meats on the island. Owner Coco Jim prepares and serves the food himself. Super authentic experience in a picturesque tropical roadside restaurant. This is a must-do bucket list experience in one of the world's most beautiful places.

We showed up out of the blue in the early afternoon. Like 130pm. Coco Jim greeted us with a big smile and asked us what we wanted to drink. We had to go with the famous pain killer, given he sells them by the gallon. They were strong and big! Handed us a bowl of complimentary house chili and told us to go sit in the shade while he made the drinks. The chili was so good. We had come back from a long hike and it was packed with ingredients, it was gently spicy, and had an amazing flavor. He came over to offer to take a picture of the two of us and he chatted with us about the habits of hermit crabs and sharks. He was great and so was the food. I would definitely go back!

Smoked Tomahawk, smothered in spices and butter! So good

Coco Jim's - the hidden gem of St. John! What an incredible place with an even better view experience! We stumbled upon Jim's place driving back from coral bay and are so happy to have found it. You'll see his signs advertising the best painkillers on the island and boy is that true! Night #1 we tried Jim's chicken noodle soup, smoked chicken plate and conch salad. All out of this world. The smoked chicken was some of the best we've had and the conch salad was so fresh and unique. Night #2 we came back the next night for the steak and lobster feast! It fed 4 adults with leftovers! A wonderfully smoked 3.5lb tomahawk steak, a huge lobster tail, homemade sides, and a starter of chili! The drinks were also so good. Both the painkillers and the wild jackass were very worthy of the "best on the island" claim. This was one of our favorite meals during our week vacation. Coco Jim's cafe is a hidden gem and a must experience for anyone coming to St. John. I know this cafe is a must go-to on our travel guide for trips to come. You won't be disappointed with Jim's hospitality and fantastic cooking!

    Service arena

Customer service 101. This place is amazing from the food to the atmosphere to the service provided to you by Coco. The chili is something you've never had but you'll want the rest of your life. The smoked chicken is so flavorful and the sides (potato salad and slaw) are unreal. If you are in St John's this is a must stop. Be careful with the painkillers.

Coco Jim's is a hidden gem! The hospitality and food are top notch! Coco Jim was one of the most welcoming and friendly people we met while on St. John! The lobster roll was incredible and the chili was a favorite amongst our group.

    Delicious Chili.

Delicious food. Had chili, smoked chicken, potato salad and coleslaw. All very amazing!

Jim is the best! The food is amazing, but the steak was the best I've ever had! It is the Total island feel as we pull in off the road for this great experience! Great lobster, steak, grilled chicken. And the Painkillers are the best!!

Great roadside stop after a long beach day. Get that afternoon Painkiller and don't miss Jim's barbeque chicken. Cooked on a classic drum smoker, this chicken has a perfect spicy rub and wood smoke flavor. Also, I'm not a huge fan of potato salad, but I finished with a clean platter. Stay for the peacock parade and Jim's friendly demenor!

We love this place!!! Jim is the best!!! He makes you feel like family. The Painkiller is the best anywhere! If you like em strong, this is the place to go. Oh and Jim makes sure to give you a sample of some food whether you planned on eating or not. We feel like we made a friend and hopefully he feels the same.

Three of us were shopping mid-morning and asked each vendor for a good place for breakfast. All recommended a well-known place. Unfortunately, we'd eaten there previously on this trip and wanted something different and better. The nice lady at Xxxxx recommended Calypso. She was sooo excited describing their delicious crepes. Well we found our way to Diamond Dire t and run to Calypso. I had a veggie omelette with whole wheat toast. The veggies were fresh and the omelette quite tasty. My brother (a carnivore) had some scrambled eggs with bacon on the side. When the plate arrived, the aroma of the perfectly cooked bacon brought an approving smile to everyone's face. My nephew had an "Indian" omelette (with ham and veggies). Quite delicious. He also had a freshly made fruit smoothy. I sampled 2 of the coffees, and liked them both. I settled for the strong one with a shot of Bailey's Irish Cream. Scrumptious!! The hostess and the chef were so sweet, attentive and friendly. Made us feel like "regulars". I will definitely be returning to Calypso on my next trip to St. Thomas! "D & M" at Calypso: Thank you for a "delicious and nutritious" breakfast. But more so for a real, personal, warm experience.

We didn't get the same positive vibes as other fellow Yelpers. Sorry to say…read more To start, it's a confusing layout in a historical building. You walk through a jewelry store to get to a small restaurant that combines Virgin Islands Ice Cream shop with Calypso Cafe. Most of the seats were taken, and all we saw was a line to place your order at the front. My husband waited in line while I found a table that hadn't been cleaned yet. It was very busy there. He ordered us 2 brownies and 2 bottles of water for $16. The lady at the counter gave herself a tip by taking $3 of the change and giving him back $1. He was going to give her all the change ($4) back, but after that incident he was floored. To add insult to injury, she didn't give us what we paid for. She proceeded to help the next person in line for an ice cream shake order. We waited and waited and no one acknowledged us after trying to flag someone down. We finally got the attention of a different lady who was helping people who were seated in the back. I think her name is Cameron. She didn't fully understand our frustration, and we had to explain that we didn't get the items that we had already paid for. She made it all right, and even offered to warm up the brownies. We just didn't feel like waiting longer for it. I'm giving benefit of the doubt here since maybe we just didn't understand the ordering system. Maybe there's a service charge that we didn't know about. How could we? We didn't even get a receipt. Perhaps there's another line for Calypso Cafe? I don't know. Honestly, the lady at the counter should have informed Cameron before proceeding on to the next customer. It only takes 2 seconds. I mean, really! Will we go back? Absolutely not! We'll go somewhere else the next time we're in Charlotte Amalie. It wasn't worth the long wait for 2 bakery items and water.
