Two days after the appointment his PA called to say they were still waiting for a physical paper with the approval even though they had verbal approval. This was a Friday. My wife followed up the following Monday to ask about the approval and to ask about surgery dates. This set off his PA. Instead of arguing my wife hung up. The PA decided to do nothing. Three weeks later we called to follow up to find out that they abandoned my care but did so in a manner that violates law. Two days later I was admitted into the hospital with complete ureter blockage. $80k dollar to have an emergency stent placed. Dr Chavez blames my wife instead of taking responsibility for his staff. Claims we are outliers even though Google reviews also include issue with his staff. It seems we are not the outliers and this is not unique. If you chose to go to Desert Mountain, you better hope his staff is not having a bad day with you call or visit or you might be an outlier too.

I read some of the reviews about this place and it looked pretty grim. I was concerned to have to go here but it was the place my Doctor referred, so I gave them a chance. I had a CT scan done on 09/19/18 in the ER. It showed a tumor in my bladder. I called U.A.S.A. to set up an apt. From the second Yani picked up the phone it went great. She was professional, polite and had a great sense of humor. She set up an establish new patient apt. with a cystoscope right after, because of the urgency on 10/04/18. I went to see Dr. Manger. Him and his assistant ( wish I could remember her name to give her proper due) were fantastic. She made me feel comfortable and explained everything that was going to happen. It did not hurt. It was uncomfortable, but no pain and very little discomfort afterwards. Dr.Manger has the best bed side manner and took all the time I needed to explain everything and what was coming next. Surgery. Surgery was set up for Monday 10/08/18. He met me in pre-op explained everything again and answered all my new questions. He performed the surgery, this one hurt after, no lie, it really hurt but it's starting to get a little bit better as time moves on. I have an apt. 10/24/18 to follow up and see if it is cancer ( come on benign ) and see whats next on the get done list. From the first call, to today, no problems with any one I had to deal with, no problems with the insurance. I have Medicare/Aetna, no one was demanding money. I checked ahead of time and Dr.Manger accepts Medicare as full payment. Everyone was great to me, polite and extremely professional. If I had to pick out something that bugged me, it would be that they set up the follow up apt. without checking with me first to see if that time worked. He was personable and professional and treated my husband's case with respect and knowledge. My husband had his first Urology appointment today. He had been having a combination of symptoms…read morethat have ranged from severe abdominal pain to pressure in the lower back and an overall discomfort and pain continuing for the last six months. He has been to several doctors as well as specialists all 'mentioning' possible stones but none ordering the proper test or following up. Meanwhile, my husband on a daily basis continues to be in minor pain ranging up to severe where his mood, lifestyle, energy has been compromised with minimal effort from current doctors to discover issue/issues and find solutions to treat. Here we are today with Dr. Patel with no uncertainty based on my husbands symptoms and pains orders a CT of his entire abdominal area. This is the only test that is precise enough to see very small stones as well as any obstructions or tumors. He is the first Doctor that I felt confident that would eliminate, diagnose and treat my husband without sending him away with an ambiguous condition. Dr. Patel is bright, deliberate with a warm bed side manner. The office staff goes over and above with a smile! When a CT was ordered we immediately went next door to imaging escorted by one of the amazing front desk ladies. When we let them know we would be out of town and then my hubby travels out of state Dr. Patel accommodated him with a same day review and agreement for next day follow up. The office is clean, professional and efficient. I hope for no one to have to land in a Urologist office but if necessary, Dr. Patel and staff are caring and will take great care of you!!

One in particular cant stop complaining on how long she's been there and waiting to be seen. I get it, we all have things to do and sitting on our asses reading magazines isn't the thing we want to do. What she failed to recognize is that ALL these ladies were busting their buts to get patients in and on time. Guess what, sometimes a 8 minute appointment turns into a 40 minute one and a 40 minute appointment can turn into a 8 minute one. From the front office staff, nurses, MA's to Dr. Bernstein, JoAnna, Peg and Michelle, they were working there buts off. They were not in the back making balloon animals, they were working to take care of their patents. I felt compelled to apologize for this woman's behavior on behalf of the human race. If the worse thing that happens to you is waiting a hour to see a medical professional, your life is pretty freaking good! The ladies at Urology Care ROCK!

My PCP was very casual about getting to the bottom of my initial symptoms concerning my kidney, therefore by the time (6 months) it was treated by Dr. Berry, cancer cells had moved downstream to the bladder. However, Dr. Berry was not casual about anything. He pursued every anomaly quickly and effectively. The fact I'm still kicking at 88, and have enjoyed the last 11 years with no further cancers is a testament to his skills. Many of the reviews talk about bad experiences with back office personnel. I'm not surprised in that back office skills seem to aggravate both doctors and patients in the Tucson area. Speaks more to the business management folks than the doctors.

This is what happens when For-Profit Vultures get involved with Healthcare folks. That is why the hammer of oversight needs to come down hard on healthcare price-gouging and Insurance companies that are basically Brokers getting in between you and your doctor that are in business to deny care instead of providing care. Wake up! We need Socialized medicine with adequate regulation like rest of the developed and developing World, so doctors can practice medicine and NOT worry about Bean-Counter margins or lawsuits.
